i have some simple profiles and just want to show the pvi's in plan view on the alignment.
i made a reference label and it works great. now i am trying to figure out if there is a quick way to locate the pvi station on plan view other than doing something like create a point using sta. and offset as parameters hand typing in the info.
I was given a horizontal centerline of a 5 mile bike path. We have to stake all the even stationing every 50 feet and all the VPC's and VPT's with vertical elevation. I have created the horizontal profile and also the vertical profile including all the vertical curve information. Is there an easy way to incorporate the elevation information back into the plan view so I can create points that carry x,y & z points that I can transfer out of autocad as a .txt file so we can upload it on our gps equipment?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWorking in Civil 3D 2014 SP1 I have a Design Profile that I have created by setting the Existing Profile to 'Static' and Creating a Copy of the Existing Profile... This leaves me with a Design Profile that follows the Existing Surface. The problem begins when I delete a section of PVI's and introduce new 'Design PVI's'... I have found that at apparently random times my Design PVI's have been lost and replaced with the original copied PVI's that follow the Existing Surface. This has occurred more than once and I can't find any reason as to why this may be occurring...?
Currently using Civil 3D 2013 & 2014 SP1
I am trying to clear out all pvis in a profile, code is:
while (profUse.PVIs.Count > 0) { profUse.PVIs.RemoveAt(profUse.PVIs.Count - 1);}
seems like its the right approach, you cannot set the pvis collection to a new collection.
It catches every time though, does not matter how many pvis in the profile.
Seems I need some education on what you are alowed to do with pvi collections.

I'm working with plan production sheets and having some trouble. My vertical exaggeration makes me want to split the profile, but when I do it, they get glued together. My left vertical grid numeration stays on the middle of the grid and I get a lot of information overlapped. What I need is to put some gap between these, or split'em. Other issue is that the axis offset of my Profile Style isn't being applied, as well as other configs.

I tried moving a Profile View and even though I selected everything at once and selected a base point and destination point, the Profile View Station and Elevation labels moved with a different offset than the Profile View itself. ?

I'm familiar with creating a polyline, turning it into a feature line, weeding vertices, etc. That works all right but is lnog-winded and really doesn't work well when dealing with lots of curves.
So I had to jump into the middle of a project. The Viewframes were already created but when I go to the plan and profile sheets for the viewframes the profile is not showing and I'm not sure how to choose the correct profile and display it in the corresponding plan and profile sheet.

The plan and profile sheets are produced but the profile gets chopped off and I can't figure out how to get around it short of manually creating the sheets (which is a bit counter intuitive given Civil 3D's capabilities)

I have generated a right to left profile. I use General-create the view frames and they show right to left --good
I use General-create sheets to create the layouts in my current drawing . Rather than being from left to right, it flips my plan view upside down and aligns it on the left side. Is their a viewport setting I don't know about?
I am trying to use the plan production feature and I've got it working pretty well except when it creates the profile view, it cuts off the data band and also makes the viewport at the very top edge of the profile, so in the viewport I can't see the data band or the top edge of the profile view.
What setting am I missing to make it show the data band?

When creating plan and profile sheets is it possible to create the plan view with the alignment moved down to show more of project above the alignment? The default setting puts the alignment at the center of the plan view window.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a low pressure sewer system that runs along a road side but is not always parallel to the road. I'm using hte centerline of the road for my alignment. What I need to do is have a profile of the existing ground above the centerline of the pressure pipes show in the plan/profile sheets. I do not need a profile of the roadway.
I'm currently using feature lines to accomplish this and that works fine in the main drawing, however, the profiles I create there don't transfer to the plan/profile sheets when I create them. The only way I have found so far to get thoe profiles to show in the plan/profile sheets is to create the feature lines in the plan/profile drawing and project those lines to my profile view. This is a fairly large system so I will have numerous plan/profile sheets. Creating the feature lines and profiles in the individual sheets is fairly time consuming.
I'm currently using Civil 3D 2012. I realize that with the addition of pressure pipe networks in 2013 might very well give me the tools I need but I'm at a point in this project, and our office, where switching to 2013 isn't really an option yet. However, if that is my answer then I will have to consider that.
When I am doing my plan and profiles I have come across a couple of instances where when I am ready to plot or just switching over to the layout tab that the bottom bands of my profile have shrunk. Is thereanything that i can do to stop this or to easily restore them back to normal size? Could this be a Civil 3D 2010 issue or more likely an issue with the template that we had built for our company.

The image correctly appears in the sheet, and even in the "preview" window while exporting to DWF. However, the DWF file does not show the image. Is this a hidden export setting or a view setting in Design Review?

I have yet to produce a profile. I created a polyline and turned it into an alignment.
Looking at alignment Sample(3), I see that it is not superimposed over your surface. The polylines are, but the alignment is not. That will disallow creation of a surface profile.
Is the sample5 an alignment that sits on the surface? how come there is still no profile?
Attached are survey points that created the surface of a road embankment portion that caved-in. The road is very near a reservoir shoreline.
1. How can a surface profile be produce? I/'ve use line to change it into an alignement and then create a proile , then a profile view. But the the surface profile is missing.
2.the points having higher elevation are the top edge( road level) of the cave-n . A few few shots were take before the shorline elevations.
3. What the best way to come up with the rock volume to fill the cave-in given this surveying points., Also the shoreline elevation will be lowered some more while work is being done since the fill is not allowed to fall in the reservoir.
I am trying to create a label for fire hydrants in plan view that shows the flange elevation. I want the elevation to be 0.4' above the adjacent road profile. I added a reference text component to my label style that shows the profile elevation. Where would I find the expression for the profile elevation reference text?
