AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Surface Area Of The Bottom Of A Pond
May 31, 2012I have a surface built for the bottom of a pond. The way to get the surface area (not the volume) of the bottom of this pond?
View 2 RepliesI have a surface built for the bottom of a pond. The way to get the surface area (not the volume) of the bottom of this pond?
View 2 RepliesAfter crating my squared pond (or waste landfill for that matter) I runned a cross section from an alignment running across the the entire pond. The cross section did not show the bottom of the pond. I noticed that I forgot to do an infill to the bottom of the pond so I did it. But, still the bottom of the pond its not showing up in the cross section, just the side slopes. Do I have to delete the alignment across the pond and recreate it? That is probably the only thing I have not done. BTW, I have an access road coming down the side of the pond with a corridor created already and is not showing up neither on the cross section.
PD: I am running Civil 3D 2012!
I have a existing surface. I want to create a proposal surface so I can know the volume between boths. This proposal surface is represent for a disposal area that can be filled up to a elevation. I have a bottom of P-surface as a feature line at EL 1608, and I want top of P-surface to EL 1613.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there an easy way to create a tin surface from 3d polylines that are generated by actual measurements of a river/ditch or imported from Hec-Ras (River Analysis -extension)?
The problem seems to be that the triangles should be long and narrow (like the ditch bottom in the example) instead of normal triangles the triangulation method normally generates. (The triangles in the example are generated by 3dwin -program).
When using Hec-Ras one way to go around this problem is to interpolate sections (XS:s) with very short distance. Hec-Ras does the interpolation very well, but I would like to have a better solution without tricks with other programs. Also in the long rivers the result is a very large file.
I can see the area of a TIN surface no worries (under Surface Properties/Statistics/Extended), but want I want to get is surface area of a TIN volume surface where no "extended" option seems to be available to view the area information with this type of surface.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get C3D to report the surface area for a bounded area with no success. I am aware of the Bounded Volume feature, which BTW appears to be retired in the 2014 release (AECCCFDBADDBOUNDEDVOLUME fails to produce any results). Obviously there have been some major changes.
What I want to do is retrieve a report for a defined section of a surface, regardless, of what type of surface it is. I see this as simple as deriving the 3D areas of the trinangles within a bounds of a TIN.
For a surface: I would like to a boundary above a inlet point that is 3" deep.
I would like something like catchment area but the ability to specify a depth distance. Or specify a depth in the water shed analysis in the surface properties.
The only way I know to do what I want is user defined contours for each elevation. Is there a better way to do get a specific shed area for a depth?
I have a large ex surface that I have divided into basins and such. I know need to evaluate the slopes in these areas. To do the whole surface at once seems to not be possible. Is there a way in c3d to view analysis information for a section of surface for instance in a polyline or fence?

From what I've read of similar posts a few people have had the same question but have been instructed how to do it with volumes as opposed to area. Also how to insert a table of cut and fill area analogous to the one you can inset from the volumes dashboard.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a series of sheets, each with two viewports to show two plan views of a long road alignment. I arranged them to read bottom to top, as it goes up stationing, as we do with cross section sheets, but have been told by an outside reviewer that the sheets are confusing and should read top down.
How would you arrange them?
I can create pond quick profile, but it can not be saved.
if I press the section view command ,it tells me no alignment .you know ,I only create pond without any alignment .I only created pond by grading .so I don't know how to create pond section.
I have a manure storage pond that I am trying to figure out the total storage volume for. It has 2.5:1 Side slopes and a 10 foot wide ramp at 10:1 entering the pond to the floor bottom. I am trying to figure out what the volume of this pond is. What is the fastest and most efficient way to get this volume? I do not want it compared to any other surface such as existing ground.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a surface and i have the outer border of a pond i want to create (see attachments). What makes it difficult for me is that different areas of the pond have different slopes. The area marked as "A" has a slope of 1:5, the are has a slope of 1:2 and the rest of the pond has a slope of 1:1.
My problem: I do not know how to grade the borderline so i end up having a surface with different slopes as my pond.
I have 2 feature lines, one is at elevation 132 (TOB), and the other at 123 (TOE). I inserted elevation points at an increment of every 3 ft., which should make a smooth arc of contours around the pond.If the issue was resolved by this method, please click on "Accept As Solution".
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to add an entry point to a retention pond that was created by grading tools. I will to entry point to be shaped like a trapezoid. I also want to grade a entry point to the slope of pond to control water erosion.
I have been trying to add the entry point for days.
I am designing a retention pond in an existing surface. I set the base of the pond and execute the grading at the desired slope and it generates the pond just fine, with the exception of rounded corners. I need the corners to be square, mitered corners instead of the round.
I'm using Civil 3D 2013.
I created a Pond Grading object with the associated surface. How can I cut and plot Section Views of the Pond Grading object just as I could do(using "Create Multiple Section Vtews" command) with Corridor object of a Linear project?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a small site where i've essentially designed a storage pond. I've cut 3.0m off the original ground at a 2:1 slope and built a berm at a 2:1 fill slope to a designed elevation. I've managed to balance the site to zero. The contour drawing I have shows elevations - which is great - however the client has asked to see the contours showing a Fill or Cut label from the original ground.

I have a site, on which I've created both a berm and a retention pond to contain runoff. I now need to see if this is retaing enough water at a certain surface elevation.
The existing site is one surface and the berm/pond are another surface.
Is there a way to do this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow to changes the settings for the "Square Area" in mapcheck's closure summary. When I right-click the dwg name in the Settings tab of Toolspace and choose Edit Drawing Settings, then Ambient Settings, I see the Area settings, but in the closure summary, there is also "Square Area". Why are these both there? It WOULD be nice to show sq. ft. as well as acres, but I can't find anywhere to edit it.

I often have to do storm pond surfaces that (for the purposes of planning) are flat on the bottom. These surfaces are created from a combination of survey data and grading groups and the tin of these surfaces is perfectably acceptable. However, when contours are shown, the flat bottom is shown with contours jig-jagging all over the place.
The attached image shows a comparison of the same pond. The top was created with survey data and grading groups; the bottom was created using contour data only. The generated surface on the top shows the bottom contour going in different directions and has parts where the an expected contour is missing.
How to correct/manipulate the surface to show a proper flat surface?
