Aug 3, 2012If in Paper Space, entering into the viewport to zoom to a specific scale (factor), what is the easiest way to make sure I am using the correct scale factor?
ie a calculation? for example say I wanted a scale of 1:20 or 1:100?

Apr 8, 2013Trying to zoom extents to 1/5.33XP which is a 3/16 scale (64/12=5.33). So evertime I try to zoom extents to 5.33 it will do nothing.

This is the first time I'm working in metric scale, but if this is the issue, my measurement system variable is set to 1 and my units are set to metric.

Jun 26, 2009am in the process of setting up a standard file for all designers to use our local office. This file will have most of the styles created for profiles, alignments, surfaces, profile views, etc... as mostly specified by the customer and industry standards.
I am having trouble maintaining the correct annotation scale in the viewport in paperspace and when plotting.
The attached word document has 3 figures. Fig 1 shows the correct viewport scale and correct annotation scale. Fig 2 shows how the annotation scale abruptly changes during the plotting process. This abrupt annotation scale change sometimes happens during the regen process or when I switch from layout to model space and back to layout.The annotation scale goes from 1:1 to 1:40 just as in the viewport. This change in annotation scale is not supposed to happen because I want to preserve a certain plotting height for my text versus a viewport scale by using various annotation scales.
I have researched the procedures for annotation scale and have not found any info related to this "abrupt change in annotation scale".
Curiously , this abrupt change in annotation scale does not happen if the text does not belong to any styles within Civil 3D. Stand alone text stays at the correct annotation scale and is not affected in the same way.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Making Annotative Scale Different From Viewport Scale
Nov 8, 2013I have a drawing with several layouts, and in one particular layout only, I want the text to be smaller than the annotation scale would dictate (the viewport is 1"=300', but I want the text to display at 1"=50' annotation scale).
I tried selecting the viewport and changing the "annotation scale" property to 1"=50', then the "standard scale" property to 1"=300'.
Strangely, this seems to work for a bunch of MText objects I have in the drawing, but it won't work for an alignment station label group or for a particular linetype...for some reason, those two things insist on having their annotation scale equal to the viewport scale.
I tried messing around with the alignment station label group's style but couldn't figure anything out. As far as the line/linetype, I'm completely at a loss why that one wouldn't change.
Photoshop :: CS5 / Image Appears Only At 25% And 100% Magnification?
May 16, 2013Been running PS CS5 successfully for a couple of years, then all of a sudden I can't work at magnifications other than 25% and Actual Pixels. The image disappears and I only see the checkerboard. There was a Windows update I ran on April 10 that included an update to the graphics card, which I thought might have been the culprit, so I uninstalled it. That didn't fix the problem, so I updated it again. I couldn't see anything else in those updates that should affect Photoshop.
Here is what I've tried so far:
I updated my graphics driver (NVidia GeForce),
Trashed Adobe Photoshop CS5 Prefs.psp (which crashed PS completely when I reopened it...luckily I kept the old prefs file on my desktop and dragged it back in),
Made sure Photoshop was up-to-date.
Photoshop CS5 (v.12.0.4 32 bit)
Windows 7 Home Premium (v.6.1 Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
AMD Phenom II X4 840 Processor 3.20 GHz
Photoshop :: Banding At Magnification Lower Than 64 Percent
Mar 24, 2013When I'm viewing photo at zoom lower than 64% banding kicks in. At zoom higher than 63% everything smoothed out. It's giving me a hard time when I'm trying to retouch big files at lower magnification because actually I cant know until I zoom in do I'm removing something what exist or actually not!
I know it's an issue regards do displaying preview of 16bit image as 8bit image. I was checking this in many ways and it appears only in 16bit mode. I'm quite a quality maniac so I always retouch in 16bit mode and ProPhoto color space to give myself a bit more room to play with post production.
Please take a look at snaps made using windows snipping tool. All images are in ProPhoto color space but I also have tried this in RGB and it looks quite the same.

Photoshop :: Monitor Resolution And CS6 Magnification Level
Oct 10, 2013I'm going to be purchasing a new PC computer system in the near future; which will be loaded with 64-bit Windows 8 or 8.1. I'm presently using CS5 & CS6, both 64-bit versions, on existing computers that have Windows 7.My work is photography and I do a LOT of masking. In order to see what I'm doing while creating masks, I typically use CS5/6 image magnifications of 300% & 400% with a monitor that has 1680x1050 resolution. On another monitor with 1920x1080 resolution, I have to increase my working space magnification to 400% & 500% to get the same "view size" of my work. That's because the "view size" decreases as the monitor resolution increases. My main problem is that CS5/6 will not produce "smooth" images at a magnification over 500%; as the image is pixelated to a degree that I can't accurately cut a mask. Therefore I need to do my work at magnifications of 500% or less, but I need a "view size" large enough so that I can comfortably see what I'm doing.
For my new system, I'm considering monitors with 2560 horiz resolution. In order to maintain my on-screen "view size" of the 1680 & 1920 monitors, a 2560 monitor would probably force me to use CS magnifications in excess of 500%.
What can I do such that CS will produce "smooth" (non-pixelated) images at magnifications greater than 500%? Or...what can I do to make the entire CS window appear larger; so the "view size" of the 2560 resolution monitor is comparable to a lower (1920, for example) resolution monitor?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Zoom To Point
Jan 31, 2007In LDT there was a command "zoom To point" that allowed me to type in the point to zoom to that point. The only way I am able to do this now is scroll through the point groups or point to zoom to a point.
Is there a zoom to point command inside of C3D that is more efficient than scrolling through a point list?

Apr 20, 2013In liquify mode the picture is not visible at 100% magnification and above.It's perfect between 25 and 66%. If I turn the hardware acceleration off it works but slow. Doesn't work with PSD, jpeg, 8 or 16 bit. I did reset the PS. It had been working during the morning and stopped to work hours ago despite nothing happened: I haven't installed or removed any software. My PS is clean, I don't use any add-on or 3rd party filter. Jan 9, 2013Basically when I export a PDF and open it in acrobat it opens 'page width' I'd like it to be 'fit page' so the customer sees the whole proof, not just the top of the page.
I don't see any settings, but I only have 1 fully functional eye so I thought I'd ask you all.
IF there isn't a setting for it, can the fine people at Corel add this setting in the export dialog in the future some time? That'd be awesome.

Dec 13, 2012CS5 has suddenly started opening files with the default magnification of 0.12%. This means images appear as tiny specks of dust in a very small window and typing 'cmd-0' has no effect. Typing 'cmd-1' does enlarge the image to actual pixels but the window stays postage stamp size and has to be manually dragged larger. Typing 'cmd-0' again at this stage returns us to 0.12%.
Resetting the zoom tool or anything else I can think of has no effect.
Paint.NET :: 3.5.8 - Files Opened Tend To Pixelate At Higher Magnification
Sep 8, 2011I have noticed that files opened in Paint.NET 3.5.8 tend to pixelate at higher magnification. This occurs regardless of size, format or resolution. The same files opened in other Adobe, Ulead or even my MS file viewer do not do this.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Button Icon Missing For A Zoom Command
Sep 4, 2012I loaded 2013 Civil 3D and I customized my Ribbon with Zoom Commands I use frequently; everything looked fine...I changed the Workspace to Planning & Analysis and cutomized my Ribbon to include the Zoom Commands but a Button Icon for ZOOM_TO_POINT came up with a cloud & question mark. I went to look for the Icon Image & I don't see it. I made the mistake of changing the Icon to another hoping I could change it back but it's not there. I went to the 2012 verison & the Button Icon is there...first icon listed. Where are the icons in 2012 so I can drag & drop image into 2013?
The icon has a point symbol with a magnifying glass. I've checked other computers and the same thing. Can't find the Image Icon for ZOOM_TO_POINT. It shows up when you load the software but if you want to edit it...it's not there in the CUI Button Icons.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Zoom Results In Multiple Undo Commands
Jun 21, 2012I am using Civil 3D 2013, Windows 7 x64.
Intellizoom does not seem to work properly on certain drawings, where if I undo... nothing happens. Rather, it tries to undo *each* click of my scroll wheel, without doing anything. This results in dozens and hundreds of undo commands, most of which are totally useless. This of course breaks my undo command, rendering it almost pointless. If I make a change, zoom out and decide that the change is not needed, I cannot easily undo; I have to undo something like 50 "commands" that do nothing, before I get to the "real" undo that I wanted to undo in the first place.
I understand there is the "Combine zoom and pan commands"; this is checked off. It does not seem to do anything. How do I make my undo command useful again? As a keyboard user, I want to use ctrl-z for my undos. I do not want to go to the undo button, pull down the menu, and search trhough the 50 commands to find the correct command to undo to, especially since I never had this problem before in previous versions of Civil 3D.
Some additional information:
1. I can open some other drawings that get the correct undo/zoom behaviour.
2. I can open the drawing I have problems with using a previous version of Civil 3d (2012), and get the correct undo/zoom behaviour.

Jan 8, 2013My keyboard has a zoom key with + and - selections. I use to use this key in drawings to zoom in and out when in the AutoCAD application when we had Windows XP. Now that I have Windows 7 I can't do this. I can't find out how to assign this key on the Microsoft Keyboard interactive software either. I have the other keys assigned as desired.
Can I still use my keyboard zoom key to zoom in and out in drawings? If so, how do I set this up in AutoCAD, or do I need to do this through a Microsoft keyboard application?

May 29, 2013I have used Autocad since 1991, and my current job required me to use Microstation. One feature I liked from Microstation is the ability to select and open an external DGN reference, and then match the view of the parent DGN, called the "EXCHANGE" command. In AutoCAD, you can also select and open an xref, but the DWG opens to the previous saved view, and not to the desired view that matches the layout.
My thought was to experiment with lisp or script and export the "Viewctr", "Viewtwist" and "Viewsize" variables to a text file, then importing the text file and using the "Viewtwist" as my "SNAPANG" value, then "Viewctr" as my "ZOOM, CENTER" value, and finally the "Viewsize" as the "Enter magnification or height:" value.
But, alas, I have no time, and not quite the knowledge to duplicate MicroStation's open-xref-and-zoom-to-view feature. I hesitate using the REFEDIT, which works fine for regular AutoCAD, but not so much for Civil 3D and the objects it creates (labels and other items with data shortcuts).

I keep trying to set the precision but whenever I add a parcel label it comes up with the wrong precision. Also, I can't get the scale of the labels right. They are too big and I can't seem to size them down any smaller.

Apr 26, 2013In c3d 2013 in the layout tabs when I hover over the annotation scale for the viewport it automatically changes the viewport like a "preview" of that scale. Is there a way to shut that off?
I ask because I believe it is altering my annotative point descriptions so I have to regen everytime my scale changes to see if the scale will work or not. A co-workers computer doesn't seem to preview and it works fine on their computer my preview appears to mess the annotation up on mine.
