Photoshop :: In Liquify Mode Picture Is Not Visible At 100% Magnification And Above
Apr 20, 2013
In liquify mode the picture is not visible at 100% magnification and above. It's perfect between 25 and 66%. If I turn the hardware acceleration off it works but slow. Doesn't work with PSD, jpeg, 8 or 16 bit. I did reset the PS. It had been working during the morning and stopped to work hours ago despite nothing happened: I haven't installed or removed any software. My PS is clean, I don't use any add-on or 3rd party filter. How did he edit frame by frame so the liquified part matches his fingers and looks like he grabbed it? how did he make it so that when he let go the liquified bit stretched backwards into place or how did he make the green matrix effect in the pic so the liquified looks black when stretched?

I've been using Illustrator for many years but I ran into a problem today I've never seen before. I have a feeling it's something simple that I've overlooked.
All the objects in my project are invisible. When I hover over them, the object edges appear, and they retain their color if I double click them to put them in isolation mode. But that's it. Exported images are just white spaces the size of the artboard. All my other files display as they should, it's just this one.
I worked around it by copying and pasting the objects into a new file. So I think it must have something to do with the settings in this document.
I'm using CS5 on an iMac, running OS 10.6.8.

We are running multiple instances of Inventor on a workstation server with a bog standard graphics card.
These Inventor instances are loaded without the UI, in silent mode and with save reminders etc. all disabled.
We're always trying to get the best performance out of the servers and to date we've been given the impression that Inventor won't utilize the graphics card under silent / none visible mode.
If Inventor does still use the graphics card for some reason then we can stick a bigger card in and hopefully get some improved performance.

Been running PS CS5 successfully for a couple of years, then all of a sudden I can't work at magnifications other than 25% and Actual Pixels. The image disappears and I only see the checkerboard. There was a Windows update I ran on April 10 that included an update to the graphics card, which I thought might have been the culprit, so I uninstalled it. That didn't fix the problem, so I updated it again. I couldn't see anything else in those updates that should affect Photoshop.
Here is what I've tried so far:
I updated my graphics driver (NVidia GeForce),
Trashed Adobe Photoshop CS5 Prefs.psp (which crashed PS completely when I reopened it...luckily I kept the old prefs file on my desktop and dragged it back in),
Made sure Photoshop was up-to-date.
Photoshop CS5 (v.12.0.4 32 bit)
Windows 7 Home Premium (v.6.1 Build 7601: Service Pack 1)
AMD Phenom II X4 840 Processor 3.20 GHz

When I'm viewing photo at zoom lower than 64% banding kicks in. At zoom higher than 63% everything smoothed out. It's giving me a hard time when I'm trying to retouch big files at lower magnification because actually I cant know until I zoom in do I'm removing something what exist or actually not!
I know it's an issue regards do displaying preview of 16bit image as 8bit image. I was checking this in many ways and it appears only in 16bit mode. I'm quite a quality maniac so I always retouch in 16bit mode and ProPhoto color space to give myself a bit more room to play with post production.
Please take a look at snaps made using windows snipping tool. All images are in ProPhoto color space but I also have tried this in RGB and it looks quite the same.
1. With banding.
16bit mode
ProPhoto color space
Zoom: 63%

I'm going to be purchasing a new PC computer system in the near future; which will be loaded with 64-bit Windows 8 or 8.1. I'm presently using CS5 & CS6, both 64-bit versions, on existing computers that have Windows 7.My work is photography and I do a LOT of masking. In order to see what I'm doing while creating masks, I typically use CS5/6 image magnifications of 300% & 400% with a monitor that has 1680x1050 resolution. On another monitor with 1920x1080 resolution, I have to increase my working space magnification to 400% & 500% to get the same "view size" of my work. That's because the "view size" decreases as the monitor resolution increases. My main problem is that CS5/6 will not produce "smooth" images at a magnification over 500%; as the image is pixelated to a degree that I can't accurately cut a mask. Therefore I need to do my work at magnifications of 500% or less, but I need a "view size" large enough so that I can comfortably see what I'm doing.
For my new system, I'm considering monitors with 2560 horiz resolution. In order to maintain my on-screen "view size" of the 1680 & 1920 monitors, a 2560 monitor would probably force me to use CS magnifications in excess of 500%.
What can I do such that CS will produce "smooth" (non-pixelated) images at magnifications greater than 500%? Or...what can I do to make the entire CS window appear larger; so the "view size" of the 2560 resolution monitor is comparable to a lower (1920, for example) resolution monitor?

when i resize an image for example to 27 x 18 cm there is no problem however, when i try and print the image and the preview window comes up there seems to only be a tiny part of the picture visible? its basicly a tiny square in the top left corner of the preview page and its just big enough to see its a minute part of the image i want to print. If i try and print the image anyway i just get "could not start print job".I never had any issues before then suddenly a few weeks ago the problem happened in version x2 on any pictures i tried to resize and print , so i updated to x3 in the hope it would correct the error but its still there. Any setting somewhere , i tried using a trial version of a rival program and that worked fine and showed the print preview exactly how it should.

CS5 has suddenly started opening files with the default magnification of 0.12%. This means images appear as tiny specks of dust in a very small window and typing 'cmd-0' has no effect. Typing 'cmd-1' does enlarge the image to actual pixels but the window stays postage stamp size and has to be manually dragged larger. Typing 'cmd-0' again at this stage returns us to 0.12%.
Resetting the zoom tool or anything else I can think of has no effect.

os windows 7, upgraded to Gimp 2.8.4 I open an .xcf file and go to single window mode. everthing looks ok the zero offsets on the rulers are where they should be and I can see the bottom of the gimp window where the % size change is. I then ask for a new tool bar which is provided and locked to the widow. if i go to full screen and then back the picture is pushed down as are the ruler zero's and i now can't get to the bottom of the screen. this annoying behavior does not seem to happen in multi window mode. attached is a screen capture.

Basically when I export a PDF and open it in acrobat it opens 'page width' I'd like it to be 'fit page' so the customer sees the whole proof, not just the top of the page.
I don't see any settings, but I only have 1 fully functional eye so I thought I'd ask you all.
IF there isn't a setting for it, can the fine people at Corel add this setting in the export dialog in the future some time? That'd be awesome.
Current System: i3 3.07ghz, 3gb ram, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates and X6

I have noticed that files opened in Paint.NET 3.5.8 tend to pixelate at higher magnification. This occurs regardless of size, format or resolution. The same files opened in other Adobe, Ulead or even my MS file viewer do not do this.

In the Printer Settings drop down menu both Color Mode and Print Mode are grayed-out. This just happened I cannot think of anything I've done differently.
I'm using OS 10.6.8 and the latest Epson drivers for the 3880. I have re-installed both PS and the Epson drivers. If I print from Acrobat Reader everything seems to work fine, this only is happening in Photoshop CS5.

“annotation scale” on the lay out mode,
I’m not sure about the current “annotation scale” in case of lay out mode.
Annotation scale option is displayed only in the model and viewport mode but not in the lay out mode (attached)!
Based on what annotative objects living on the lay out but neither in the model (or viewport) are re-sized? At this mode, there is no option to choose the annotation scale?
On other words, how to choose the annotation scale in the lay out mode?

Have had 64-bit version running for 18 months or so on Windows 7 including Liquify Filter. After a recent Hard-disk crash and copied over files to new disk, it is no longer visible as an option on the menu list. (Ctrl-Shft-X does not work either). The file liquify.8bf is showing in my directory in the same filters directory as Lens Correction.8BF - which IS showing in the filters list.
PS: The menu option is not greyed out - it is not there any more.
Note: I tried renaming the file and renaming it back again, which is why it has a created date of today. The last accessed date of 2nd July was probably the last time it was used before or at the time of the crash - not sure exactly.
Is there a way to sort this problem out without a re-install. Or a good way to re-install without losing preferences - screen layouts etc.

I've read, in a Creative Pro, article that if u apply liquify to a layer and when u click ok on the window to apply the effects holding down the Shift key it saves the mesh in a temporary directory (for win user: ctemp --> i have it). And then if u want re-apply the same mesh just shift+click on filter-->liquify...but it doesn't work in ps7!! (the article in creative pro is for ps6)

When I use liquify, instead of showing the real time distortion it seems to put a square copy of about the same size as my brush of another portion of the layer. It's as if it is mirroring from the middle of the y-axis if that makes sense. It does distort but I have to hit invert (or other function buttons) to get it to show up and get the copied artifacts to dissapear.

Now the Main body "box", I want to to be able to "stretch" downward so there is enough space for my text and my footer.
I would probably use the liquify option for this, correct? I would liquify the box on it's left side and right side, but I will not include the liquify option on the corners.
But my question is, when do I exactly do this? Is this a part of slicing, or is it done at anytime?
Also, Would I just make this box a certain size, add my footer, then liquify? Or do I extend to box to the bottom of my layout in PS? Though if I did that, I'd have no footer, correct?
The outcome I'm looking for is a the main box on my site to extend past the page that you see in PS (so you'd have to scroll down in your browser, then at the bottom,

I've been having liquify problems on 2 different computers. On a PII 400mhz it doesn't update the image in real time when distorting. I have to hit invert to make the image distorted. On a 2.0ghz P4 it resets the moment you push the pen down on the image or left click.
