View 11 RepliesIs there any way to make the cursor in the liquify tool be a little thinner and loose the cross hairs? I am having accuracy issues and if I could see more of what I am moving it would work. I an using and Intous 3 tablet but also have the same issue with the mouse.
Â
I have tried zooming in but that does not seem to work when trying to adjust very small areas. If the cursor cannot be changed, any tips or tricks?
Â
Also the size adjustment for the cursor is does not appear to be linear and increases or decreases in size in very large jumps especially when using the slider but also with the [Â and ] keys.
recently I've upgrade to Photoshop CS6.All works great, but Liquify filter. Well, filter works great (new mercury engine is awesome!) but something happened to cursor.Look screenshot below.
Â
Using PS CS5 I have not problem checking "Use GPU" option in Preferences panel; and with it checked PS CS6 works great, except Liquify cursor. If I uncheck this option, Liquify cursor looks normal.
iMac 27"
Mac OS X 10.6.8
ATI Radeon HD 5670
Â
BTW I've updated to 13.0.1 and nothing change.
I am using Photoshop CS5 on a Macbook Pro Retina Mountain Lion. When I use the liquify tool, I want the cursor to NOT display. So I can liquify without seeing the crosshair or circle.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn liquify mode the picture is not visible at 100% magnification and above. It's perfect between 25 and 66%. If I turn the hardware acceleration off it works but slow. Doesn't work with PSD, jpeg, 8 or 16 bit. I did reset the PS. It had been working during the morning and stopped to work hours ago despite nothing happened: I haven't installed or removed any software. My PS is clean, I don't use any add-on or 3rd party filter. View 9 Replies View RelatedIn my system the liquify brush size goes from 1 to 151 to 301 to 454 and on up.
Â
It it not possible to get smaller brushes like 30 60 100?

When using any liquify brush (Bloat, Forward Warp, etc.) you can of course choose your brush pressure and rate of the effect, with predicable results, but these values only seem to work if you keep the mouse stationaryduring painting. The instant you move the mouse, as if to paint with the (i.e.bloat tool), the rate shoots way off the top and (i.e. bloating) to an absolute and rather useless maximum. I vaguely remember a time waaay back, possibly Photoshop 7 or so, where this wasn't the case and all was well. You could gracefully add a slight Turbulence effect set to a barely noticeable 5% and paint lines where you pleased at only a 5% effect along your path. Is there a way to disable this "pressure/rate value ignoring" skyrocketing issue?Â
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I have Photoshop installed CC works there the possibility to change the brush size by pressing the ctrl + alt key especially in the Liquify filter anymore. The same problem I have with the zoom function. In PS 6 I was able to press the alt + space key and while moving the mouse in the image in or out back. also that no longer works?
View 11 Replies View RelatedWhen I choose the Liquify option from the Filter menu, the Liquify tool opens and I have access to the custom set of Liquify tools. Unlike almost any other tool where you select a brush size, the Liquify tool requires you to modify the position of a slider rather than selecting the brush size dynamically by right-clicking.
Â
The problem is that the brush size selector control goes from 0 to 15,000px diameter. In order to make effective use of a 15,000 pixel liquify push tool, you'd have to have a really large image. Perhaps there is a case where someone at some time used a 15,000 px diameter nudge brush in the Liquify tool, but in my nearly 20 years of using Photoshop, I have never come across the need for a brush that large.
Â
Regardless, because the selector uses a linear scale, it is really difficult to select a small brush size (say less than 100px) without manually incrementing the slider.
Â
I would really like to see Adobe standardize the tool size/preset selector so that it is always available via the context menu (or equivalent) and that an option exists to enable relative slider values or percentage slider values in incremental selectors like brush size. Percentages could be setup where 100% was the largest side of the current image and then brush sizes could be selected via percentage of your image (of course converting to pixels, but the scale would be percentage-based). Even an exponential scale that favored the smaller values would be useful. Or perhaps, movable caps that would allow you to set your own Max and Min values that would rock.
Â
I might be able to select more appropriately scaled brushes in the Liquify tool when I am working with images where a 15,000 pixel brush head is unreasonable.                                                                                                                                                        Â
I just update to photoshop cs6 (Mac 13.0.4). Unfortunately, it's not possible anymore to resize brush in the liquify filter by "CTRL-Option-drag" like I did before in former CS6 version.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen using Liquify, I used to have a circle (brush) to use to make objects thinner, now all I see is a cross which does not work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using a temporary computer, as mine is being re-formated.When I opened Illustrator to change a text-line in a picture, there was no cursor when I clicked on a word. I could still make my change, but no blinking cursor to tell me where I was.
Â
how they thought at Adobe when they constructed the help-file as it is now... If I open the help-file in Illustrator, select that I want an answer for Illustrator (the icon to the right of the search-box) WHY do I get answers for InDesign, Bridge and other programs?WHY not just for Illustrator? I am NOT interested in those programs right now.
I have PSE 11. When working with the Bloat or Pucker tools in the Liquify filter, the Brush Pressure option fades to gray; the only slider I can actually change is the Brush Size. The problem seems to have started about three weeks ago on my old laptop, which was due to be replaced in any case. I've since purchased a new laptop and have done a full install of PSE 11 on it from the original disks - but the problem still persists.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a Bamboo Pen tablet to use with GIMP and have been installing under Windows (XP).
The tablet installs fine, is recognised by GIMP and I can draw with the stylus. Excellent. The only problem is that the cursor/arrow is missing which means that I can draw things but I only know where the stylus is when I start to write/draw.
I am hoping that this is a simple settings issue but how to make the cursor/arrow visible?
having installed PS CS4, my brush cursor can be as big as possible or as small as poaaible and all I see is a small x regardless. I checked the preferences for cursors and they appear correct.
View 6 Replies View RelatedApparently the issue has been happening since as far back as CS2. The flashing text cursor is only visible in the upper left hand portion of the screen. If the text your are attempting to edit is on the far right or bottom of the screen, the cursor vanishes. Some people have suggested zooming in and out, but this only appears to solve the problem because the art board may get nudged into the "good" portion of the screen. I did a screen shot and found that the cursor is only visible in about a 930p x 600p area of the window (not including toolbars). Incindentally, the is the same size that the window defaults to when initially opened. On a HD monitor, this amounts to a very small space.

When I retouch skins with the clone brush and I have to draw on medium tones with a small brush I easily lose the visibility of the cursor.
Â
Over dark and bright tones the contrast of the cursor with the skin is high and i don't have problems.I tried to change the cursor's preferences but it didn't work, so i ask if there are some tricks like this:
Â
change the threshold of switching black/white cursor to a brighter value, i think it switches near 50% of color Brightness, if i could change that value near 30% my problem is over.
looking at the aspect of the cursor i see that is built with a white dominant and a black outline and viceversa black dominant and white outline, it could be a 3 lines profile?
I am seeing a double brush cursor in CS5; why? and how do I get rid of it?
Â
It's not the clone tool, it's the brush. When I resize my brush to a certain size (different sizes for different images) a duplicate brush suddenly appears in the top left corner of my screen and resizes with the brush as I resize it up and down.
Â
Also, if I zoom into my image, suddenly the duplicate brush will appear in the top left of my screen with the same behaviour.Different images behave differently but it appears to be once I get to a certain size on any image this duplicate brush cursor appears top left of screen and makes it very difficult for me to access menu and tool options.
I recently discovered why I've been having trouble with precise drawing with my tablet, I keep losing track of the brush cursor, that circle is just too small, same for "precise" brush cursor (cross). I tried the standard brush cursor and it was much better but it lacked precision of telling where the stroke will start.
Â
Is there any way to customize the brush cursor, ie. add a mouse pointer/brush icon to that small circle like it's in PaintTools SAI?
I recently installed Photoshop CS4 and find the brush cursor faulty. Only a portion of the cursor shows up. With a small brush most of the cursor shows. With a large brush only a small segment in the upper left shows. Anybody else have this problem? Anybody have a solution?

The PAINTING CURSOR is set to BRUSH SIZE, and when I have the BRUSH selected, and press the ] key to enlarge the brush size on the fly (to ensure it's just not a small brush), it stays as what seems to be a PRECISE cursor.
Sure enough, when I apply the brush, the size is huge, but the cursor is not the size of the brush like I want. I even increased the HARDNESS value to 100%, and it acts the same way.
The most recent versions of the nVidia Quadro 4800 and Geforce 9800 drivers fix the issue where large (~120 px) brush cursors disappear or fragment in Photoshop CS4. Version 186.30 of the Quadro drivers, released July 13, 2009Version 190.38 of the Geforce drivers, released July 21, 2009 Please see Knowledgebase document kb407708 for further information.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the CS3 beta, which is awesome, since I'm using a MacBook and CS was slow.
I have noticed something very peculiar and annoying, however: when I use the paintbrush tool, the cursor disappears when I hover the cursor over the canvas. This makes it almost impossible to use my brand new Graphire pad.
When painting with the paintbrush the cursor flickers between the round brush size cursor to an arrowhead. The paintbrush continues painting as it should, but the cursor flickers constantly between the 2. This is a visual annoyance but doesn't seem to affect performance.Â
I'm on Photoshop CS6 (latest updates) on 2008 Mac Pro 3,1 with OS X 10.6.8.
I use iMac i7 with lion 10.7.5..After a "considerable" amount of editing, photoshop just stops responding. For example, the paint brush cursor will move but no paint can be applied. Have about 10-12 layers, guessing abour 70 history steps.
Â
Must exit the app and restart, at which time it will behave normally. I use latest, almost, OS and have 8GB ram.
I have a really annoying problem when trying to use brushes. It existed in CS3 and is still there in CS4.
Whenever I make the brush diameter somewhat large, for instance above 100px, it begins to crop the brush outline so it only shows a small portion of it. If I make it large enough, ~500px, there's nothing left. Even if I have show crosshair enabled, the crosshair is cropped away.
My Photoshop brush, pencil and Clone strokes are smaller than the cursor, which makes it very difficult for accuracy. Don't know what made them change, but want the cursor and stroke to be the same.Â
I've tried different settings in the brush dialog box, with difference tip settings, etc, with no results. Also, tried different settings in Preferences / Cursor setting.
Just wanted to double check if the brush cursor rotation updates realtime in Photoshop CS6 WHILE painting. i.e. not when Intuos Art pen is hovering but in the middle of the stroke.
