Photoshop :: Liquify - Have Circle (brush) To Use To Make Objects Thinner?

Aug 13, 2013

When using Liquify, I used to have a circle (brush) to use to make objects thinner, now all I see is a cross which does not work.

GIMP :: Make Object Thinner Without Scaling It?

Feb 24, 2012

I am designing a logo, and have used a gimp script to create (a) the text that I need, and (b) a ring to enclose it. The ring is in a separate layer with a transparent background (I set the entire background to Alpha), and it surrounds the text. I created the ring using a script to transform a letter 'O' into a 'glassy' style object, which I then resized into an oval of the correct size and shape using the 'scale layer' tool.

The logo looks OK, but would be much improved if I could make the surrounding ring thinner. The ring has a 'glassy' effect which is just what I want, but it is a little on the chunky side. It would look much better if I could transform it to be about half the thickness that it currently is, to match the slimmer text inside the ring. I would like to do this without losing the 'glassy' effect of the ring.

I have already tried creating the ring with the thinnest font I could find that gave me the right shape, but this doesn't go quite far enough. Is there any way that I can thin the ring so that it keeps it's size, position and 'glassy' effect, but ends up with a thickness of about 50% of it's current width? Effectively, I just want to transform a fat ring into a skinny ring!

Photoshop :: Brush Size Is Smaller Than Circle That Represents The Brush

Dec 19, 2012

I have contacted Adobe about issues with Photoshop brushes recently.  My issue is that the brush size is smaller than the circle that represents the brush.  In other words, when I hoover over the area that I want to paint or erase with the circle and then click, the painted or erased area is smaller that the circle.  It's really frustrating when fine tuning an image, you never know how close you are to what you want to correct.  This is only visible when you zoom in quit a bit.  I worked with an Adobe tech for over an hour and he could not simulate the problem.  Then he finally asked if I was using a retina display, (he was not).

Photoshop :: Liquify Brush Rate

May 12, 2009

When using any liquify brush (Bloat, Forward Warp, etc.) you can of course choose your brush pressure and rate of the effect, with predicable results, but these values only seem to work if you keep the mouse stationaryduring painting.  The instant you move the mouse, as if to paint with the (i.e.bloat tool), the rate shoots way off the top and (i.e. bloating) to an absolute and rather useless maximum.  I vaguely remember a time waaay back, possibly Photoshop 7 or so, where this wasn't the case and all was well.  You could gracefully add a slight Turbulence effect set to a barely noticeable 5% and paint lines where you pleased at only a 5% effect along your path. Is there a way to disable this "pressure/rate value ignoring" skyrocketing issue?

Photoshop :: Why Liquify Brush Size So Out Of Proportion

Nov 12, 2012

When I choose the Liquify option from the Filter menu, the Liquify tool opens and I have access to the custom set of Liquify tools. Unlike almost any other tool where you select a brush size, the Liquify tool requires you to modify the position of a slider rather than selecting the brush size dynamically by right-clicking.

The problem is that the brush size selector control goes from 0 to 15,000px diameter. In order to make effective use of a 15,000 pixel liquify push tool, you'd have to have a really large image. Perhaps there is a case where someone at some time used a 15,000 px diameter nudge brush in the Liquify tool, but in my nearly 20 years of using Photoshop, I have never come across the need for a brush that large.

Regardless, because the selector uses a linear scale, it is really difficult to select a small brush size (say less than 100px) without manually incrementing the slider.

I would really like to see Adobe standardize the tool size/preset selector so that it is always available via the context menu (or equivalent) and that an option exists to enable relative slider values or percentage slider values in incremental selectors like brush size. Percentages could be setup where 100% was the largest side of the current image and then brush sizes could be selected via percentage of your image (of course converting to pixels, but the scale would be percentage-based). Even an exponential scale that favored the smaller values would be useful. Or perhaps, movable caps that would allow you to set your own Max and Min values that would rock.

I might be able to select more appropriately scaled brushes in the Liquify tool when I am working with images where a 15,000 pixel brush head is unreasonable.

Photoshop Elements :: 11 - Brush Pressure Option Not Working In Liquify Filter

Mar 15, 2014

I have PSE 11. When working with the Bloat or Pucker tools in the Liquify filter, the Brush Pressure option fades to gray; the only slider I can actually change is the Brush Size. The problem seems to have started about three weeks ago on my old laptop, which was due to be replaced in any case. I've since purchased a new laptop and have done a full install of PSE 11 on it from the original disks - but the problem still persists.

Photoshop :: The Brush Size Circle Disappears

Aug 24, 2013

This happens occasionally-out of nowhere the brush tool  stops showing as a circle of specfic diameter and shows as a crosshairs, which does me no good whatever. This goes for all tools using the brush presets-brush, eraser, and stamp. I can't do anything. because I can't see the tool I'm working with. I tried restarting PS, then restarting with trashed prefs. Neither worked. I know that sooner or later it will come back and  all wil be well, but meanwhile, the deadlines are creeping closer & closer. The enemy is at the gates.

Photoshop :: Paint Brush Circle Breakup

When using paint brush at 25% of full screen in the editing window, the paint brush circle starts to break up at 400 pixels ie it shows only the upper left part of the circle. At 50% of full screen it does the same starting at 175 pixels.

Can anyone duplicate this on their machine.

I run Photoshop CS4 on Wondows XP Pro SP2.

since I use the paint brush much of the time.

Photoshop :: Make A Circle Of CD Size

Jul 18, 2012

I am trying to make a perfect circle that is the size of a CD.

I have made guides that are 5" x 5" wide (a little wider than an actual CD) and 5"x5" tall. When I try to create a circle shape or marquis inside of my lines, I can't. I have to make an oval in order to meet my guides.

I thought it was an issue with my units in my rulers. No dice. I tried creating a marquis fixed at 5"x5". No dice. Still an oval. Shouldn't 5"x5" be a perfect circle? A circle with a circumference of 5" would be the same all the way around, right? Or do I need to go back to geometry class?

Photoshop :: Make A Square A Circle?

Sep 8, 2005

I have a square that I want to make into a circle, without distorting it. I want to create a circle using it as a stroke... I"m using CS2, can anyone help

I used the transform and the warp tool and got it into a circle, but there were points where it was pinched and it looked stupid.

I thought maybe there was a way to make a circle and use that "pattern" as a stroke for it, but so far I can't figure it out.

i tried making it a brush and needless to say...

We use that square to put around all of our letterhead and official station documents. I've created a CD-Rom media kit of our stuff and want to put it around the edge of the cd label, but unfortunately for me, cd's are round which is not condusive to the template I have....
