I need to make a line thinner than 1px, but if I change it to 0,75 or 0,5 it go's back to 1px?
Where am I goning wrong?
I am designing a logo, and have used a gimp script to create (a) the text that I need, and (b) a ring to enclose it. The ring is in a separate layer with a transparent background (I set the entire background to Alpha), and it surrounds the text. I created the ring using a script to transform a letter 'O' into a 'glassy' style object, which I then resized into an oval of the correct size and shape using the 'scale layer' tool.
The logo looks OK, but would be much improved if I could make the surrounding ring thinner. The ring has a 'glassy' effect which is just what I want, but it is a little on the chunky side. It would look much better if I could transform it to be about half the thickness that it currently is, to match the slimmer text inside the ring. I would like to do this without losing the 'glassy' effect of the ring.
I have already tried creating the ring with the thinnest font I could find that gave me the right shape, but this doesn't go quite far enough. Is there any way that I can thin the ring so that it keeps it's size, position and 'glassy' effect, but ends up with a thickness of about 50% of it's current width? Effectively, I just want to transform a fat ring into a skinny ring!
I'm trying to make one object stay fixed in my animation while the background is moving, controlled by arrow keys. Just like this: [URL]

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had posted in another thread about wanting to clean up a signature and make it look more font like. I tried that and it seemed to be pretty difficult due to the amount of random in a hand written signature.
So I think I'd like to approach this from the other direction. I have a font I like but I don't want it to look like the font (way too common). Is there a way to alter the font (not the entire font set or even to create a new font but just for a one word Logo)?
I'd ideally like to connect two of the letters and also modify the shapes of the letters just a bit.
I'm using the extrude tool so that the rectangle that I'm extruding (downwards) will taper (and become thinner at the bottom). However, when I do this, even as a fraction (.01) it seems to get bigger at the bottom. How do I make it thinner at the bottom, not bigger?

When using artistic media brushstrokes, the thinnest I seem to be able to apply is supposedly .03", which is too thick for a lot of what I'm trying to do.To illustrate, in the attached image: The apple on the left is what I get if I apply artistic media strokes to the lines at the lowest possible thickness, which is still too thick. The apple on the right has the lines at the thickness that I wanted, but I was only able to get them that way by using a tedious workaround.
I am using Photoshop Elements 6.0. I need to make my text 600 pt, but whenever I go that large my text disappears. I can only go up to about 450 pt before it disappears.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I click on the makeup tools in version X6 – 64-bit it brings up 5 separate tools. I can find no options for the suntan or thinner tool although its states clearly in the user manual and other functions that there should be size and strength options. I have checked this forum and there are some posts that say there is no strength option for the suntan tool, however this is not what the user manual states. Is the user manual and the help function incorrect and if not, how do I bring up these options?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing with polylines that have a global width of .2 which are plotting thinner than those with a width of 0. If I uncheck "plot object lineweights" it seems to plot correctly but the lines with 0 width plot so light (or grey) that you can't see the drawing well.

Try to unchecking the 'dynamic text' button but I don't see this button anywhere in my text tab.
I have never been able to successfully use GIMP for anything because of this problem with adding text. I have had 2 versions, Windows and Linux. Right now I am using it with Pangolin.

Just installed CS4 Master Suite and immediately experienced the kind of lag that is being described on this forum, and elsewhere.
Specs: EVGA 680i/E8400, 4Gb, ATI 4870 1Gb (8.12 driver - latest), Vista Ultimate 64-bit, OS/PS running off Velociraptor with 2nd Raptor for scratch file.
Turning OpenGL support in Preferences>Performance did nothing to solve the problem. This is even with Cache levels set to 8.
However, what did alleviate the issue was turning Aero *OFF* and reverting back to Windows Classic Theme.
- Right click on desktop
> personalize
> theme
> select "Windows Classic"
Changing themes from Vista->Classic *while* PS CS4 is open alleviates all lag.
Admittedly, I can't believe that Vista's Aero gets in the way *that* much - perhaps someone has found a way to tweak Aero settings.
I'm using CS3 on a Mac.
I outlined my text and subtracted it (and the tree image) from the black background. When I did this both appear thinner - particularly the tree.
If I then take the original version and the new subtracted version, and view them both overlayed one on top of the other in wire frame (outline) mode, there is no difference in the actual lines.
It seems to be a problem with the way illustrator previews the images. This wouldn't concern me, but when I export the file as a jpeg, the lines also appear thinner in the export.
I can create a manual solution by offsetting the path before subtracting, but this isn't ideal.
Im fairly new with illustrator, when i try and use live paint by selecting the brush strokes then going object > live paint > make, it makes my strokes really thin and it is really annoying
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm making a website based around leather products. So my site design is based around leather.
I've got a light brownish/red leather texture for the main area of the site, and I want to have some text that looks like it was stamped into the leather, or burned into it, etc..
I've tried simple stuff like a reverse bezel or just an internal shadow in the top left.
Those suggest the letters are sunk in, but in no way look like they were pressed into the leather or burned.
I've tried using the burn tool but it doesn't look natural at all.
I'm also trying to get other leather effects, like punched holes, or sewn edges, or pattern stamping etc... Anything that might be done to leather.
