I am now using Civil 3D 2013. In previous versions, SCALELISTEDIT, then Reset would give me Civil Scales. Now when I use the same command and reset, then choose Imperial Scales, it resets scales to only Architectural. I tried to make a change using_AECDWGSCALESETUP. The dwg units are already in Feet and the Type is set to decimal. How do I get back to engineering scales?

create a code to add scales to the scale’s list?
I just want to have the necessary scales, so don’t want to add to the template.
The command function is basically to allow me type the value of the scale and based on that, adjust the properties of the scale. (Name appearing in scale list - Paper Milimeters - Drawing Meters)
Example:
>Command line: setscale
>type the value of the scale to create: 50
set 1:50 to default
my linetype scales in model space look good, when i go to paper space to print the linetypes are huge and way out of wack. what is my problem?

I am working in a drawing that had all archetectual scales. I Need to insert scales like 1"=30' and so on. Usually when i go to this menu i can simply add them, but in this drawing they arent there. I started this drawing using the relitivly blank template ACAD.dwt because i am trying to build a company template and did not want any trash.
How does autocad chooses wich scales to show. In drawing setting it is set to US Survey foot.

We use a lot of annotative blocks with several different scales and often find that they have changed from thier standard names to several *u blocks that do not behave annotatively. I have to go in and explode them once or twice to get them back the right name and they show up as individual blocks in different scales. Is there a fix for this?

I have a Dref alignment, samples lines, and an Xref'd corridor in a drawing. This drawing represents a base file for cross sections. The drawing scale is set to 1:10. I want my cross sections to be 10 horz. and 5 vert. I create the sections views in ths drawing, with sheet production on (A0 sized sheet) and they come in perfectly in model space. I then use the production tools and create the section sheets. Here s the problem: The viewport on the newly created section sheets has to be set to 1:100, not 1:10, in order for the sections to plot to the correct scale. Is the viewport ratio of 10 times smaller then the parent drawing (1:10) the correct way to create the sheets? I thought that the viewport scale should be equal to the parent drawing model space scale (1:10). My border in the template layout is sized in mm (A0).
I am using Civil3D 2011 and I am working on 1:1 model space scale. When I go to paperspace and open a scaled viewport, the texts and linetype scales change. What can i o to make them look the same as in model space?

This is a coworker's drawing, so I'll do my best to answer questions on how it was created.
We set up our projects with a Topo sheet, a separate Design sheet, then a plot sheet with the drawing referenced in. The design sheet consist of basically all the design information unless this is a larger project, then the design components are given their own drawing file. Pretty industry standard, right?
The problem we are having is that the symbols are not scaling correctly for the plot sheets. I did some testing and the topo sheets are working as expected, but the "smart" pipes and structures are not from the design sheets. For the structures we are using a block for the plan view, and that is using the current drawing scale for the symbol size. But that is not carrying over to the plot sheet or viewport scale, it is locked to the scale of the saved Design drawing. So when plotting the project, half way through, people have to open the design drawing, change scale and resave to get the structures the right size for that sheet.
Do I have the structure style setup wrong? Shouldn't the symbol change to the plot sheets current view scale like a survey point?
I have played with making that plan block annotative but Civil 3D doesn't see a annotative block in the definition of a style.
I don't think that the network should have to be native to each plot sheet, but the only work around I have is to dataref the network into each plot sheet, and then have to freeze the xref's layers so there are not doubles.

At the beginning I could not see drawings in correct position after putting them from assembly window to drawing one( please see the screenshot). I solved it in the drawing mode( I set them straight so I can do engineering drawings), but I am wondering if there is a possibility to set any object in assembly mode horizontally vertically so in the drawing mode it will not show incorrectly after adding them. Also I made a drawing file for Auto Cad mechanical and parts are also set tilted.

I hear certain program such " Lutz Roeder's Reflector " can reverse engineer the DLL assemblies and get the actual code from it. This would cause concern when we deploy the DLL to various users.

knew any structural engineering software that can easily import AutoCAD solids and turn them into a mesh to perform a finite element analysis on them.
I have used SAP2000 and it is a little bit of pain to make complicated non-linear forms as a mesh in AutoCAD and then export them to SAP2000. (I do not believe there is a solid to mesh command in autocad yet, if so that would be very nice).
Is there any program to automatically calculate the amounts of beams, columns or elements of engineering in autocad?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWorking in a assembly and just edited an existing note in the Engineering notebook. Clicked the "X" to close the assembly.... what? no prompt to save the file?
Just checked adding a note to a ipt and it doesn't dirty the file either, so if you only add a new engineering note, you have to save it, cause it won't prompt you before closing.
In my part, there was already an existing Engineering note.
I wanted to add another note. I added my new note, but it does not show up in the browser. I can right click on the note note > Display note and both notes are shown in the engineering notebook. When I exit out of the notebook and go back to Inventor, still not there. Here is a short video of what I am seeing.

Now I if I add another note, then all of them will show up in the browser. This is not the first time that I have seen this, but just thought I would bring this up.
This part was just made with a copy design from Vault. What is weird, is that if I go to the part that this was copied from and add the note, it shows up correctly then. Its like something is getting hosed in the copy design process.

So my co-worker says everytime he opens up a drawing, all of his osnaps are on. He turns them off and reopens the drawing, and they are back on. Before I go down stairs to see what the problem is.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am new to corridors and am having some trouble with this. I have an assembly that has a paved roadway, 2' curb and gutter and a sidewalk. Along the road the curb varies to allow for on street parking. I have the front and back of sidewalk attached to an alignment, so it is exactly where it needs to be. I have an alignment that my EOP follows as well, and that seems to be ok. The problem is the back fo curb in the corridor. Instead of being 2' offset from the EOP, it is shifted 2' perpendicular to the baseline. Please take a look at the attached picture.
I think I can get it done by making each parking "bump out" it's own region using the EOP alignment, but that will take a lot more time and make my file a whole lot bigger. Being a corridor rookie, I am hoping I am just missing something.
I'm using Civil 3D 2013.
I have used stringer connect in the past and it seemed that my traverse shots (which went to four decimal places 0.0000) that were in my raw file were converted to a fbk file and it held the decimal places. Now when I use it, the program rounds my shots to three decimal places (0.000) which changes the locations just slightly. I don't think I changed any settings deliberately. How can I get my four decimal places back?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new computer that has Windows 7 64-bit on it. I immediately installed Civil 3d 2012 on it and it worked great. Some of our projects are in 2012 but some of them are still in 2011. So I exported the license from my old machine and tried to install Civil 3d 2011 on my new machine. I noticed that a couple SQL programs did not install because there was already a newer version on my machine. When it finished installing a tried to open it up and it acts like it is going to start ( I get the pretty Civil 3d Picture in the middle of my screen and the window pops up) but as soon at it starts it just disappears and goes right back to my desktop.
I though that maybe the problem was that I installed 2012 first so I completely uninstalled both of them and tried to reinstall just 2011 and I still have the same problem. I also tried disabling my Virus/Spyware protection software and reinstalling it. Same results.
Not sure how to word this question correctly. I saw a co-worker do a 'temp-save' on a drawing, mess around with drawing, and then come back to the spot in drawing where he had 'saved' to essetially deleting all the stuff he had done. I cannot remeber what he used to mark this and then be able to come back, but if he liked the edits he had made, he could just keep drawing.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to revert back to the original colors of an xref besides having to reattach the xref and purging the DWG.
I always change the colors of the projects Existing site/utilty XREF to color 252 to shade it back to have the proposed show up darker. But I try to select all layers to change the colors back to what they were before and the box to set color by layer is not available.
Every time I create a new layer, name it, asign a color, linetype, etc...it defaults back to the original color, making me set it twice. Am I missing a setting somewhere?
