I have been able to MAPEXPORT points, polylines & text out in a SHP file for our GIS department. They are asking for a DWG file with my manhole infromation. when I sent the drawing file they said there was nothing the file. It had layers but no plines points or text. What I might be missing in my drawing for ESRI to see these?

I'm using Autocad Civil3D 2011, Version 3. Just yesterday I noticed that the file date shown in Autocad's open file dialog box shows an earlier time than Windows Explorer, which shows the file date and time correctly. When I enter the "time" command on the autocad command line, the correct time is shown for the "last updated" time.
For example:
The Autocad open file dialog box shows the file having a time/date of 4/23/2013 3:54 PM
Windows Explorer shows the file having a time/date of 4/23/2013 4:10 PM
"TIME" command at autocad prompt returns the following:

I rebooted and restarted autocad, and resaved my file with the same results (although with different times-but again the autocad open file dialog box showed an incorrect, earlier time). I have never had this problem before, and it is driving me crazy as I usually sort my files by date to assure that I am working with the latest file.
How to set civil 3d 2012 to automatically load your templete file at start-up instead of a misc. drawing file with no styles or anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a surface, to which I've added data from a ENZ file. No problems - I had a workable surface. I want to be able to work on the drawing at home as well as work. So I brought home the DWG as well as the ENZ file thinking that if both were in the same directory, it would work OK. But I get an error saying the Point file can't be found. I can't see any way to make the file reference relative, rather than absolute.

View 5 Replies View RelatedCivil 3D 2013.One of the problems my team has is that we have a number of remote offices that all work on the same drawings. To ensure integrity of the drawings, we use a Wide Area file replication and locking service to ensure the files do not become out of sync and corrupted between offices.
AutoDesk seems to open and save files and their subordinate xrefs serially in a single thread instead of in a multi-threaded manner. Because of this there is a Huge time impact on just opening and saving files at remote sites as a result of Civil 3D having to wait for the home office file lock check on each and every file before opening the next file.
We have 100Mbit down / 20Mbit up transmission links at both sites dedicated to the file replication, with Gbit backbone in both offices.
note that the remote site has a full copy of all files in its replicated share. These local files are what Civil 3D is opening. No Files are being transferred during file open unless a remote change has just occurred (proven through replication logs).
When the drawing file is opened for editing, a file lock check is performed and Windows waits for the response to ensure it can be opened for editing before telling Civil 3D. When Civil 3D has this file open, it has a list of all the xrefs for this file. Civil 3D then seems to open each file in sequence.
This is a problem when a large latency is introduced through our 3rd party Wide area file system by a remote site file lock check.
This is not AutoDesk's fault but the compounding of the two system's operational behaviours, causing a Very long wait on file open, Save, PaperSpace operations (30 minutes for large drawings).
I would like to see a multithreaded (threadpool) file open occur against the entire list of xrefs (during save as well). Then recursively executed for all subordinate xrefs of those files until the operation is complete.
As long as a file list is maintained during the operation and updated as each file operation completes (which obviously it is) in the primary thread, this should not cause any problem. All dependancies can be opened in sequence once the initial file operations are complete and when a particular file in the list is required but not open yet, it's priority can be raised in the threadpool.
I'll go and open a file and I'll rename a drawing file while in that dialog box. I will then open the drawing I renamed or any other drawing and work fine for awhile. I will usually crash within that session at some point.

Instead of saving over the original file, I did a save as, but Notepad can only save it as .txt file, not .lin. however the problem I am having is that it defaults to DEM file types which through research I have found out is our american counterparts version of the DGM.
I have found some great LiDAR information but it is in a compressed LAS file so the extension is LAZ. How to decompress these files so they can be used. The point cloud will only accept the las format.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter analyzing a storm system in SSA or Storm Sewers I’m exporting it to a .stm file. When importing to CAD it recognizes the existing pipe network and asks to update it which works but it adds two horizontal purple lines in the profile which are attached to one of the pipes in the profile. If you erase the purple lines it erases the pipe with it.
Things I tried already with no success:
-Erase profile and re-create it
-Erase alignment and re-create it
-Erase all pipes before import (so it would import as new, not update)
-Try LandXML for export/import (this wouldn’t update pipes, it just brought in a whole new network and messed up all the styles/parts)

The last few days I've had issues opening C3D 2014. I'll start the software, the splash screen/window will appear and in the the lower left hand corner of it, you'll see C3D loading files. But when it gets to "Opening drawing....". Basically, opening my custom dwt. The software stalls. Won't open. Now I can go on any other computer in my office and C3D opens no problem using the same dwt.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently requested a .tin file from our surveyor. He sent the file. When making a surface from the .tin file, I got the error message, need the .pnt file as well. When I requested the .pnt file from our surveyor he sent a .txt file. It has the format x, y, z coordinates in a list. Without having to call and request info from the surveyor again, which he may not know how to do, can I convert the .txt file to a .pnt file?

Is there a way to edit a .pc3 file to ensure that a drawing is being flattened so when non-autocad users receive a PDF, that was created by AutoCad, that they can easily print the drawing? Sometimes our clients have issues opening and printing our PDFs.

I can import images just fine, but have been unable to get an imported DWG file to display.
I have a user that has the incorrect filename show up the top of the screen sometimes. Only with more than 1 drawing open of course and not all the time. civil 3d 2011. Meaning if he has drawing2.dwg open it might still say drawing1.dwg at top.

I am xrefing a DGN file into my DWG file in Civil 3d 2012. When I go into Layer Manager I cannot see any of the DGN's Levele/Layers? Tell me this isn't so? Am I missing something here, how is one suppose to control Layers in the DGN when it is XREF'd into a DWG?

I need to create a .csv file for all my structures for Stakeout. I know I can go into my toolbox and create a report through the reports manager. The problem is that its giving me too much information, all I want is PNEZD. How can I create this report or edit that report being generated?
I'm trying to create a profile from a txt file but I keep on getting this error message ''chainage XX+XXX.XX either outside of alignment limits or within gap created by a chainage equation'' . The txt file has chainage and elevation and the formatting is OK, so I don't get what the problem is.
