I'm strying to strat an SSA project from scratch, and I want to use an AutoCAD DWG file with a street map and contours as a background. When I try to import it into SSA 2013, nothing displays. Selecting the CAD Layers button does nothing either.
I can import images just fine, but have been unable to get an imported DWG file to display.
can you background mask an arc text.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSince we updated to C3D 2012, our background masks are not plotting.They show up and seem to work properly in both Model and Paper spaces as well as print preview.
They do not plot whether it is selected through the MText dialog or in an Object Label dialog box.
I have made sure the draw order was correct and made sure that the "Lines Overwrite" option is selected.
This is happening on all three of our workstations which are a mix of XP and Win 7. We are printing to a KIP 3000 and I have made sure the drivers are up-to-date.
Where I can get started with a lisp routine that will apply or remove from a selection of text objects (or MLeaders), a background mask set to standard 1.5 coverage; fill color set to background?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy background masks is displaying a border (which is not desired) and they are not masking the backound but instead are masking the text. What gives? (see attached)
This issue is specific to one drawing. It seems to effect all background masks regardless of style. They are set to use drawing background color. And border option is set to false in the label styles.
The last items I worked on in the last sesson where to create a corridor and an intersection.
Also, why the pen table is printing correctly that would work as well. The attached image was printed using a black/white pen file. Go figure.

it looks like its working until I zoom in or out then it doesn't work at all
The engineer I am working for wants me to import a background image from a DXF into Hydraflow Storm Sewers Extension from an autocad drawing so he can work on it for design. How do you create a background image as a dxf from the dwg.?

With 2014 comes Live Maps which apparently killed Base Jump. But here's the problem, when running just basic ACAD, I can load the background image using Live Maps, but with the same drawing opened in C3D, no image. Using the GEOGRAPHICLOCATION command causes, well, nothing to happen either. Background image to load in C3D? Not being able to plot the image will be the next fun hurdle that will only cause more frustration I am sure.

In Civil 3D 2010, the color of the paper background was a darker color and I was able to have yellow text on top of it and be able to edit the text. Now with Civil 3D 2013, the color of the paper background in paper space is white and I can't read the yellow text. I know that you can either turn the paper background on or off, but is ther a way to change its color so that it is darker?

Mleaders with background mask plot fine with line merge on, but any intelligent object style containing a background mask will not 'mask' when plotting with line merge on.

I cannot get my contour label to mask the contour line that it sits on. I have no problems creating contour labels for my surface (whether using single, multiple, or multiple at interval options). I have set my contour labeling defaults to not display the contour label line, as well as set Label Mask Type to Contour Line Only. Under contour label style under Layout>Border>Background Mask, this is set to True.

Just yesterday I noticed that the file date shown in Autocad's open file dialog box shows an earlier time than Windows Explorer, which shows the file date and time correctly. When I enter the "time" command on the autocad command line, the correct time is shown for the "last updated" time.
For example:
The Autocad open file dialog box shows the file having a time/date of 4/23/2013 3:54 PM
Windows Explorer shows the file having a time/date of 4/23/2013 4:10 PM

I rebooted and restarted autocad, and resaved my file with the same results (although with different times-but again the autocad open file dialog box showed an incorrect, earlier time). I have never had this problem before, and it is driving me crazy as I usually sort my files by date to assure that I am working with the latest file.
How to set civil 3d 2012 to automatically load your templete file at start-up instead of a misc. drawing file with no styles or anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a surface, to which I've added data from a ENZ file. No problems - I had a workable surface. I want to be able to work on the drawing at home as well as work. So I brought home the DWG as well as the ENZ file thinking that if both were in the same directory, it would work OK. But I get an error saying the Point file can't be found. I can't see any way to make the file reference relative, rather than absolute.

From Windows 7 desktop screen, go to personalization and click on Window Color at the bottom of that dialog box. View 5 Replies View RelatedCivil 3D 2013.One of the problems my team has is that we have a number of remote offices that all work on the same drawings. To ensure integrity of the drawings, we use a Wide Area file replication and locking service to ensure the files do not become out of sync and corrupted between offices.
AutoDesk seems to open and save files and their subordinate xrefs serially in a single thread instead of in a multi-threaded manner. Because of this there is a Huge time impact on just opening and saving files at remote sites as a result of Civil 3D having to wait for the home office file lock check on each and every file before opening the next file.
We have 100Mbit down / 20Mbit up transmission links at both sites dedicated to the file replication, with Gbit backbone in both offices.
note that the remote site has a full copy of all files in its replicated share. These local files are what Civil 3D is opening. No Files are being transferred during file open unless a remote change has just occurred (proven through replication logs).
When the drawing file is opened for editing, a file lock check is performed and Windows waits for the response to ensure it can be opened for editing before telling Civil 3D. When Civil 3D has this file open, it has a list of all the xrefs for this file. Civil 3D then seems to open each file in sequence.
This is a problem when a large latency is introduced through our 3rd party Wide area file system by a remote site file lock check.
This is not AutoDesk's fault but the compounding of the two system's operational behaviours, causing a Very long wait on file open, Save, PaperSpace operations (30 minutes for large drawings).
I would like to see a multithreaded (threadpool) file open occur against the entire list of xrefs (during save as well). Then recursively executed for all subordinate xrefs of those files until the operation is complete.
As long as a file list is maintained during the operation and updated as each file operation completes (which obviously it is) in the primary thread, this should not cause any problem. All dependancies can be opened in sequence once the initial file operations are complete and when a particular file in the list is required but not open yet, it's priority can be raised in the threadpool.
I just finished installing AutoCAD C3D 2013. And my drawings and designs were done on C3D 2011 AutoCAD, but the problem now is when i open my drawings with C3d 2013 all the text that has background in it shows black in a paper space but on model space is owk, is there a way of resolving this without goiung through all the text settings.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm on Civil3d 2010. I have a drawing where i have background masks on most of my text - everything works great. Then I did a "Save As" to give the drawing a new name. After working in it for a day or so, I noticed that all of the text masks don't show. When I hover over mtext (or blocks with mtext), a border shows around the text (only when hovering). But bottom line is the background mask doesn't show at all or print. The original drawing is still fine.
I've checked and this has nothing to do with line merge in the pc3 file etc.
I am working in Civil 3d 2010. I have annotative text and when I apply background mask the width is huge. Is there a system variable or something else that I need to change so the background will only be masked behind the text and not additional width?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a .png file that I want to place in a template. This png file is text with a transparent background. When I place this in my template, the background is shown in white. The sheet color the idw is beige, so this doesn't look very good.
Also, when I save a copy of the idw as .dwg, the white background is shown there as well. when it prints, it is ok. If there was a way to have it stay transparent in both?
