I just finished installing AutoCAD C3D 2013. And my drawings and designs were done on C3D 2011 AutoCAD, but the problem now is when i open my drawings with C3d 2013 all the text that has background in it shows black in a paper space but on model space is owk, is there a way of resolving this without goiung through all the text settings.
View 9 RepliesMy company is switching from ctb files to stb files. With the ctb file, we make concrete hatch with two layers. A top layer with the concrete hatch pattern and a background layer with a solid hatch patern. The ctb file concrete plots the concete hatch black and the solid background hatch light gray. I am using civil 3d 2013 and the hatch allows a seperate background color mask. I am trying to make all my concrete layers (Top of Curb, Curb Flowline, etc.) a certain color scheme, i.e. shades of green. I would like my on screen concrete hatch patern to be a green color with a gray background, but plot the concrete hatch black with a gray background. I can not figure out how to do this without making two layers. Is there a way to use one layer and utilize the background color mask to show on screen green and gray, but plot black and gray?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm on Civil3d 2010. I have a drawing where i have background masks on most of my text - everything works great. Then I did a "Save As" to give the drawing a new name. After working in it for a day or so, I noticed that all of the text masks don't show. When I hover over mtext (or blocks with mtext), a border shows around the text (only when hovering). But bottom line is the background mask doesn't show at all or print. The original drawing is still fine.
I've checked and this has nothing to do with line merge in the pc3 file etc.
I am having trouble with getting certain pieces of text to show up in my viewport in paperspace. There is text and linework on the same layer. However, only the linework shows up in paperspace, not the text. I have seen this before and don't remember how to fix it. It is a setting somewhere but I don't remember where.

Simply selecting the masked text in C3D 2011 provided pick boxes at the four corners of the wipeout, making it very easy to manipulate the size of the wipeout box. I'm hoping to do the same in C3D 2012, but the wipeout seems to be treated like a block and lacks the pick boxes.A system variable maybe?
I have created Table styles for Structures in Autocad 2009 Civil 3D, but now I have Autocad Civil 3D 2011 and the Table Style Fill appears black in paper space.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have this problem with my MText Background Mask. You can take a look at the two attachments. Each one gives me the same issue, but with different MText objects. I'm also plotting to a KIP5000 and a SHARP All in One, and I get similar results, except in some of the MText, they come out in a random color as well. The pc3's for all devices are set to Lines Merge.
The text is actually part of an xref file, and if I plot directly from the file they are in, I have no problem. I did a test where I copied the text into the sheet file, and got similar results when the text is in modelspace, and I got my intended results when the text is in paperspace. Now, this is the way I want to go...but the company standard is to draw it all in the xref, so I have to figure out how to get around this.
I've gone back and forth with the Merge/Overwrite options in the pc3, and when plotting to PDF and SHARP, I get the correct output with Overwrite, but the KIP just completely ignores the background mask with Overwrite.
I have 2 layers and I want to mask one through the other. I've attached a png showing what I want. I tried to attach an .xcf file, but it won't do it, which seems strange for a gimp forum. Anyway, one layer is the text (black outline) and one layer is a colorful background. In the xcf, the background layer is entirely filled with the colorful stuff, but I want it to only show through the interior of the letters (as shown in the png).

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy background masks is displaying a border (which is not desired) and they are not masking the backound but instead are masking the text. What gives? (see attached)
This issue is specific to one drawing. It seems to effect all background masks regardless of style. They are set to use drawing background color. And border option is set to false in the label styles.
The last items I worked on in the last sesson where to create a corridor and an intersection.
Also, why the pen table is printing correctly that would work as well. The attached image was printed using a black/white pen file. Go figure.

I can go into another drawing on my machine and it works just fine
it looks like its working until I zoom in or out then it doesn't work at all
Is it a know issue that when you have a General Note style with a Dragged State where the Display is set to Stacked Text. If Background Mask is set to True. The Mask does not encompass the whole text.

I wish i could plot label styles (pipe network labels, point labels, etc.) that contain background mask with the line merge setting ON. Mleaders with background mask plot fine with line merge on, but any intelligent object style containing a background mask will not 'mask' when plotting with line merge on.

I cannot get my contour label to mask the contour line that it sits on. I have no problems creating contour labels for my surface (whether using single, multiple, or multiple at interval options). I have set my contour labeling defaults to not display the contour label line, as well as set Label Mask Type to Contour Line Only. Under contour label style under Layout>Border>Background Mask, this is set to True.

I have some sample lines that will be plotted on top of an aerial photo, and the black box background looks terrible. I'd like to turn it off. I found the contour label background fine and I switched those to False without much of a problem, but I can't seem to locate the ones for the sample lines.

Try plotting with Lines Overwrite. Note how the contours don't go through text.
Any users out there saying they cannot use the "Lines Overwrite" option and need something else so they can still use the Lines Merged option and have their contour text looking good. How to get this in a SP or HF soon. Otherwise it may be deferred to 2010 and so on and so forth.
The background mask does not align with text in curve labels with the "allow curve text" set to true. See Attached.
I found old posts with this problem for version 2009 and older. Is it still a problem in 2011/12/13?

In paperspace I have a left and right view. If i dimension something in left view it appears backwards in right. do i need to duplicate geometry for right view to dimension it there also? or is there a way to fix the reversed dimension?

I switch to paperspace and go to layer properties and highlight all layers and then turn on all layers in he drawing and thaw in all three columns and still the room numbers do not show. The layer listed in model space is on and thawed. Why won't it show?

Problem is, most of my work is in model space (different aspect of this drawing), and although I could pull the objects through to the paperspace tab, it just wouldn't be the way I feel it should be (3d objects should stay in model space imo). However, for the most part I don't need to see it in model space (except for checking 3d elevations of line segments), the finish product is a printed 2d top view.

Everywhere I search I am told that the answer is in options>display and then change it to what ever you want. However, mac has preferences instead of options and no display tab. And in all the tabs i do have, there is no obvious alternative.

I know this explaination isn't very clear so I have attached two files that are print screens of my model space and my paperspace.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a dwg that looks great in model space, however I created a couple paperspace layouts and then used Align Space to rotate to those views. The problem is that my point label style rotates the point labels based on the align space rotation.
I looked into the point label settings and changed the orientation reference to the World Coord. Sys., but it does not make the points rotate correctly. (world reference is the goal).
In paperspace, each time I double click inside the viewport it automatically zooms to the extents of my drawing, changing the scale. Also, when I switch back to model space i am zoomed to extents in model space. How can I fix this?
