Is it a know issue that when you have a General Note style with a Dragged State where the Display is set to Stacked Text. If Background Mask is set to True. The Mask does not encompass the whole text.

I was wondering if it is possible to use an expression in a general note label? The type of label I am using is a general note label that displays our finish grade profile elevation in plan view. What I am trying to do is add a value to that label for the TC elevation and G at the ROW. I noticed in the settings tab of the tool space, surfaces has an expression button that has what I want but I am not seeing that under General/Label Styels/Note. Is it possible to right my own expression? We are using Civil 3D 2008 with Windows XP.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe use STB plot style tables for all of our drawings. I have several general note styles setup in Civil 3D 2012. When you pull the note text out so that you have a leader, the leader does not plot per the plot style assigned to the layer that the note is set to display on on the General tab. It appears as the proper color and freezes with the layer properly, but it plots with the settings of the plot style assigned to layer 0. Is there a reason that the leaders don't use the plot style setting form the layer it is displayed on?

On each sheet a general note is required that likely will be revised by agencies reviewing the plans. Currently I have a base cadd file with the note and I x-ref that drawing into each sheet.

Simply selecting the masked text in C3D 2011 provided pick boxes at the four corners of the wipeout, making it very easy to manipulate the size of the wipeout box. I'm hoping to do the same in C3D 2012, but the wipeout seems to be treated like a block and lacks the pick boxes.A system variable maybe?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy background masks is displaying a border (which is not desired) and they are not masking the backound but instead are masking the text. What gives? (see attached)
This issue is specific to one drawing. It seems to effect all background masks regardless of style. They are set to use drawing background color. And border option is set to false in the label styles.
The last items I worked on in the last sesson where to create a corridor and an intersection.
Also, why the pen table is printing correctly that would work as well. The attached image was printed using a black/white pen file. Go figure.

I can go into another drawing on my machine and it works just fine
it looks like its working until I zoom in or out then it doesn't work at all
I wish i could plot label styles (pipe network labels, point labels, etc.) that contain background mask with the line merge setting ON. Mleaders with background mask plot fine with line merge on, but any intelligent object style containing a background mask will not 'mask' when plotting with line merge on.

I cannot get my contour label to mask the contour line that it sits on. I have no problems creating contour labels for my surface (whether using single, multiple, or multiple at interval options). I have set my contour labeling defaults to not display the contour label line, as well as set Label Mask Type to Contour Line Only. Under contour label style under Layout>Border>Background Mask, this is set to True.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm on Civil3d 2010. I have a drawing where i have background masks on most of my text - everything works great. Then I did a "Save As" to give the drawing a new name. After working in it for a day or so, I noticed that all of the text masks don't show. When I hover over mtext (or blocks with mtext), a border shows around the text (only when hovering). But bottom line is the background mask doesn't show at all or print. The original drawing is still fine.
I've checked and this has nothing to do with line merge in the pc3 file etc.
I am working in Civil 3d 2010. I have annotative text and when I apply background mask the width is huge. Is there a system variable or something else that I need to change so the background will only be masked behind the text and not additional width?

I have some sample lines that will be plotted on top of an aerial photo, and the black box background looks terrible. I'd like to turn it off. I found the contour label background fine and I switched those to False without much of a problem, but I can't seem to locate the ones for the sample lines.

Try plotting with Lines Overwrite. Note how the contours don't go through text.
Any users out there saying they cannot use the "Lines Overwrite" option and need something else so they can still use the Lines Merged option and have their contour text looking good. How to get this in a SP or HF soon. Otherwise it may be deferred to 2010 and so on and so forth.
The background mask does not align with text in curve labels with the "allow curve text" set to true. See Attached.
I found old posts with this problem for version 2009 and older. Is it still a problem in 2011/12/13?

I am using Civil 3D 2012. I am executing the reports General_Legal_Description_for_Alignments and _for_Parcels.
Through some research I was able to figure out where to adjust the precision. I was also able to learn that editing GeneralLegalPhrasings.XML is where I would format the wording.
But, the changes I make to GeneralLegalPhrasings.XML are not being reflected in the reports generated.
For example, Civil 3D defaults a line course to something like this: Thence N DEG MIN SEC E a distance of X.XX feet.
I edited all the mete type = "line" to read as follows: N DEG MIN SEC E, X.XX feet, thence
Here is an example of one of the lines: <Mete type="Point" connect="Line">{lineDirection}, {lineDistanceFoot} feet, thence </Mete>
They all look like this, except the type and connect values change.
But there is no change in the output.
I have a document for a book with 1400 superior note numbers in it. At the end of the document is a list with the 1400 connecting note texts. Unfortunately they are NOT connected! How can I connect the note-numbers with their connecting note text?

I originally thought it was an issue with 2014 but 2013 isn't working either (and I know it was working in the past).
The only thing I can think of is my computer recently upgraded to IE10. Could that be it?
My company is switching from ctb files to stb files. With the ctb file, we make concrete hatch with two layers. A top layer with the concrete hatch pattern and a background layer with a solid hatch patern. The ctb file concrete plots the concete hatch black and the solid background hatch light gray. I am using civil 3d 2013 and the hatch allows a seperate background color mask. I am trying to make all my concrete layers (Top of Curb, Curb Flowline, etc.) a certain color scheme, i.e. shades of green. I would like my on screen concrete hatch patern to be a green color with a gray background, but plot the concrete hatch black with a gray background. I can not figure out how to do this without making two layers. Is there a way to use one layer and utilize the background color mask to show on screen green and gray, but plot black and gray?

Has used ssmpropeditor with civil3d 2012. I see that it's approved for 2013 on the autodesk exchange sever, but no mention of how it works with 2012. We are looking at using this to make SSM more user friendly to manage our keynotes and general notes as custom properties in the SSM. We already use SSM to plot large jobs, populate title blocks and when notes reference other sheets.

When I maximize a view port, then zoom in or out, the note labels change scale. I like the way C3D General Note Labels rotate and scale with different viewports, but is there a way to stop them from changing when you are just viewing by maximizing? I know that I can zoom first, then maximize and as long as I don't zoom again, the scale won't change, but this is not practical.

For some reason I am unable to get my lat and long's to display using note labeling in C3D 2013.
I can setup a labeling style to add and display NE coordinates where ever I place them on my surface but my Lat and Long label style remains blank.
I've checked layer being on, text size, drawing unit/zone settings, even tried replacing my NE label style call outs in the NE label style text component editor properties to Lat and long and still remains blank in my composer preview....
