Is there a way to export style information to excel or any other format. What I want to do is track what styles are using which layers, colors, linetypes etc so that I can manage the CTB files correctly. As it stands I am worried about changing the properties of the CTB file as it may affect objects without my realizing.
View 9 RepliesI had this working in C3D2011 but after having severe issued with it in 2014 I went back and tested in 2012 & 2013 where it failed as well.
If I collect all supported styles using C3D 2014 & SincpacC3D's Export Styles command and export them to a newly created Database, when trying to open that new drawing it will crash C3D with no CER. Trying to run Recover on it results in a few screen flashes and back to the original drawing/screen and no opening of that new file. However, if I limit the selected styles to Export to just label styles, the drawing opens but I get this warning:
But wait, C3D2014 IS the latest version! What the heck is going on inside that code? I cannot show the full code, but the gist of it is that creating and saving a new DWG file is pretty straight forward. As soon as I add in the StyleBase.ExportTo(exportIds, outDb, dupHandler); the file becomes highly unstable.
Again, this worked well at one time, but it sure is not now and I cannot find any reason for it to be creating these bad drawings.
I'm trying to import some label and table styles from another drawing and can't seem to do it. I followed the tutorial offered here until I got to the "Manag" ribbon in my Civil 3D and found that the Styles "import Export" option is not there.

I have three lines and under properties i can clearly see that one should be red, the other should be color 250 and the third 253, but visually all the lines look gray (i believe they look 253 to be exact).
If i draw new lines, the colors act normally, but the old lines are all gray.
I am trying to map export shapefiles to arcmap, but it keeps telling me export did not succeed.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have created a surface and have exported it to LandXML for import into another software. After generation of the surface, I have cleaned up the surface triangles to eliminate triangulation outside of the area of interest. I have tried this both with deleting actual surface lines and by applying a boundary. After I edit the surface, I export it as a LandXML and bring it into my application where the surface still has the lines outside of the area of interest that I wanted deleted.
What I suspect is happening is that C3D is recording that the lines were deleted in the edits section of the surface, but that the actual lines are not deleted from the surface definition. My other software is not smart enough to figure this out from the LandXML file. Is it possible to finalize all the edits in C3D so that upon export my deleted lines do not transfer through?
How do you apply certain contour label styles to certain surface styles (i.e. When I have an existing surface i want the default contour labels to be an "existing contour" style). Right now the default is a "finished contour" label style for all surfaces.

I found a code to change the colors, but only affects the current dimensions in the drawing and the styles do not change.
I want to add say a circle and an arrow at the two ends of a line. I am able to do it using Blocks for one single line by inserting the blocks at desired locations. But how to do it for say all the lines in a drawing or shape file without customization.

I have tried everything I can, but with no success.
You can see in the attached screen cap that colors 1-9 appear as white on my screen and that colors 10-22 are not correct either. This is only occuring in one specific drawing. Is there a preference that I switched somewhere that would make this happen? I have double checked that everything is ByLayer or ByColor that I can think of. If I insert this color chart into other drawings it looks fine. using C3D 2012.
I would just restart my drawing, however it is the new company template file that I have invested many hours into and would really like to be able to keep working with it and not start over. Or is there a good way to import and overwrite all the Prospector settings into a blank drawing?
I was wondering is there a way to export text, dimension, leaders and table styles? I have been trying for a while but can figure it out not even sure that you can.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm having a lot of trouble understanding how Adobe Illustrator (CS6) manages character styles imported from different ai documents. If I create all character styles in a single .ai document and only use them in in that document, everything works as expected--colors, fonts, and typography settings are maintained in the character style, and newly added text can be quickly styled with the character style.
My trouble starts when i want to re-use those character styles in a new .ai document. From the character style menu I use the option to import the character styles from another document, and they import correctly--all of the styles work and style text as expected. But then i save & close the document and re-open it to find that the character style entries are there, but the fills and strokes are all messed up--fonts, sizes, typography settings are maintained, but styles with a blue fill are suddenly filed with black, or some other color.
This happens even if the swatches associated with the character styles are imported to the new document as well. I've read that all character styles are based off of the 'normal' character style.
For whatever reason cad won't let change layer colors once there are lines on it. You change the color and when you close the layer dialog box and layer color doesn't change......

I downloaded (from someone) a simple dwg cad file, that had 255 lines, each with a different autocad color (colors 1 thur 255). I used it to plot with different ctb files, so I could see at a glance the lineweight the color printed.

DIMCLRD is supposed to assign a color to dimension lines and arrowheads. How to use this property to assign, say, color index 140?

I just started a new job a couple weeks ago where they use AutoCAD (I have been using Microstation v8 for the last few years). I completed a drawing and printed it in black & white. Everything looks great except the yellow lines. I want them to print black instead of light gray.

Problem with command from Home tab - Draw panel - Curves drop-down - Create Curves Between Two Lines OR Create Curve on Two Lines.
If you select the Degree option, it draws a zero length curve when you type in a valid number for degree of curve. I have tried entering it in decimal format and as ##d##'. NOTHING WORKS!
On my LED monitor (Samsung XL2370), horizontal and veritcal lines display as different hues. Is there an Autocad setting to work with this or is it maybe some setting on my monitor?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I'm in the process of upgrading a project from C3D 2011 -> 2012. As a part of the upgrade process I'm doing some drawing cleanup such as purging unused layers/objects, purging regapps, deleting unused scales and finally taking advantage of the Styles Manager in 2012 and purging unused styles.
However, I'm noticing that almost all of my styles are coming up as "unused" unless they are attached to drawing settings, even though there is clearly objects in that drawing using those styles. I noticed this was happening when after running a purge my road profile lines were disappearing because the style no longer existed.
The items that have styles attached are DREF'd into the drawing and are not "live" objects in the drawing, if that makes any difference.
We did the upgrade last week and I am trying to use the drag and drop to bring styles and description keys across. Done it many times between 10 drawings. I am opening 2 drawings-one from 10 with everything I want and one in 12 to be my template.
Problem is I am only seeing one the current drawing when I click on TOOLSPACE.
I may not be using styles as efficiently as I should. I always seem to be creating styles to meet different circumstances. As shown below if I have any text that can have an arrow, directional or dragged state and a mask, I always end up creating more styles for times I don't want the arrow and/or the mask.
If there is a 3rd of 4th component this can multiply quickly. Am I missing an easier way to handle this or is this what is normally done?

I try BS 1192 and ISO but they are misappointed me.
for ex they use
1-ext wall white .5
2- hatch blue .18 !! (not clear color and not light weight)
3- int. wall color: 9 weight: .25
I am specifically working with the Section Major Offset lable. The City of Dallas wants the lable to call out the Offset distance and direction over the elevation (example "30.0' LT."). Since zero has not offset direction the label reads "0.0' T." at the center point. Is there a way to include an if/then statement in the label style to remove the hard coded text?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a set of styles created in 2010, the company I currently work for needs to have new styles added and I would like to use some of the styles I created to make my life a bit simpler in this process. I have created an Overall.dwt file using the current styles the company i work for has and I have imported my styles into this dwt. As im renaming these styles for my new company I noticed under the general tab for text style and block style I have text and block styles with my old companies name but i cant seem to find where the blocks or text style is being pulled from so i can edit it with a new name. So my question is where are these styles being saved so i can edit them
