View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently working on a new project in Civil 3D 2014. I have been working with AutoCAD for years now, but I am new to C3D. I have imported a couple shapefiles into my drawing and I have also Queried the insert via "Locate On Map" so I don't have the entire parish data inserted. They are parcels and the other is a project location. What I am having trouble understanding is that I keep seeing Check in Features or Check Out Features. So I am not sure if I delete parcels or data within the features, is it completely gone? Or am I checking it out.
I also would like to know how to possibly change the features to edit in the familiar AutoCAD commands. Not sure how to change the styles for part or some of the features with possibly using them down the line.
I have attached a couple pics to this message so you can see the actual files I inserted and see a screenshot of my drawing/map and the Data Dialog box along with it.

Image Traces can be exported as files that are usable in ArcMap 10.0. I ultimately need a shapefile in ArcMap.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new in using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013. I used ArcMAP 10.1 to create a .mxd MAP of 4 points/locations - each point/location has the values of SampleID, XYZ-coordinates, Depth, ChemicalName - see the attached file for details.
I used the ArcToolbox to convert ArcMAP to CAD in the GeoProcess, obtained a DWG, and saved it in a folder of my C:/Temp/CDC_ArcGIS-GeoDatabase folder - see the first page of the attched file. I used AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 to open that DWG file - I played with it in the basic 3D Wireframe a little bit, but I don't know how to display the feature/object of my 4-point MAP - see the last page of my attached file. How I can display/view the feature/object of my 4-point MAP in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013.
The background of my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 is black. How can I change the background color to white or other light colors?
I have an alignment with sample lines, I need to export these to a new drawing. i tried export/import land xml, but it did not work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to export style information to excel or any other format. What I want to do is track what styles are using which layers, colors, linetypes etc so that I can manage the CTB files correctly. As it stands I am worried about changing the properties of the CTB file as it may affect objects without my realizing.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have created a surface and have exported it to LandXML for import into another software. After generation of the surface, I have cleaned up the surface triangles to eliminate triangulation outside of the area of interest. I have tried this both with deleting actual surface lines and by applying a boundary. After I edit the surface, I export it as a LandXML and bring it into my application where the surface still has the lines outside of the area of interest that I wanted deleted.
What I suspect is happening is that C3D is recording that the lines were deleted in the edits section of the surface, but that the actual lines are not deleted from the surface definition. My other software is not smart enough to figure this out from the LandXML file. Is it possible to finalize all the edits in C3D so that upon export my deleted lines do not transfer through?
I'm working on a project to map or local cemetery, showing borders, sections, lots, & grave spaces. I'm running into a situation that I just can't seem to get a handle on.
I have a set of shape files from our local GIS dept of the area around our cemetery. When I examine them in QGIS, everything looks OK. Measuring the distance between two known points returns 204 feet.
Now, switching to AutoCAD Map 2012, I'm running into some issues. I've tried MAPCONNECT and MAPIMPORT with the same results.I create a new drawing, assign the projection (MI83-SIF) and then attach / import the shape files. Units for the drawing are standard decimal. Using the MEASUREGEOM, I measure between two points and get 204 (which is what I would expect in feet). When I change the units to Architectural, then MEASUREGEOM returns 17'. So, it appears that, while "204" in the shape file should be feet, AutoCAD Map is interpreting it as inches.
Any thoughts and how I can get the shape files imported so that I can create updates in Architectural or Engineering units?
I have tried to export shape files using the Map --> Tools --> Export function and I am setting up everything that I need to complete the import but I can't seem to get all the files I need. Our GIS expert says that he needs 7 files; the .shp .shx .cpg .dbf .idx .sbn and .sbx. The problem I have is that IM not getting the .sbn or the .sbx files when I go through the export process. Or even if those 2 files I'm not getting are necessary to be able to import the shape files into GIS.

Currently we draft with the units set at "unitless", does this need to be change? Is there other settings that need to be set up to make the export/import easier?
I am not an ESRI user... strictly in the Map World, so I dont know..
Do ESRI shapefiles store layer color? If yes, can this be harnessed and remembered upon Map Import?
I have always just changed the ACAD layers upon import, but I have a client who is trying to import hundreds of layers and says that changing their colors would be incredibly time consuming, yet if he imports these files into ESRI, they remember what color their layer is supposed to be.
I have a drawing in CAD (2013) and I am trying to assigned a Geo-coordinate system so I can import it into my ArcMap GIS program with the coordinates assigned to it already. Is there any way of doing this?

Problem with command from Home tab - Draw panel - Curves drop-down - Create Curves Between Two Lines OR Create Curve on Two Lines.
If you select the Degree option, it draws a zero length curve when you type in a valid number for degree of curve. I have tried entering it in decimal format and as ##d##'. NOTHING WORKS!
I'm working on setting up a process where I can bring AutoCAD drawings into GIS. I need to assign an attribute to a Polyline or Line so that the attributes can be viewed in GIS. I've noticed there is a way to convert AutoCAD to a SHP or SDP however I'm not familiar with this process.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently had to export DWG files to PDF and the lines print in black whether they are angled/curved or straight. The problem I'm experiencing is that a number of objects that have been rotated at an angle or lines that are curved appear dark grey on the screen in PDF format. I'm using the DWG to PDF. pc3 with monochrome setting selected. I've checked the Plot Style Table Editor and all colours have been selected to print 'black'; greyscale is 'off' and screening is at 100%. Is this a 'bug' or is there a fix for this problem?

Is it possible to program a macro that allows me to export the start and end point of various lines in a sketch?
The objective of this is to connect an excel file which is updated when I create a line with it correspondent points, then i could not only import these x,y,z coordinates from excel to inventor but I whould be able to update my spreedsheet whenever I change my sketch.
so in the old illustrator i was able to export to a dxf with lines and arcs and autocad options and now there is no longer a prompt for such thing and after exporting it turns a circle into little straight lines instead of arcs....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have designed artwork that uses lots of colors and lines. Everything was pretty much designed with lines and shapes and then I used live paint to paint in certain sections. The artwork looks perfect when exported as a GIF and it appears fine in Illustrator. The problem happens when I export the document as a PDF. When I export it as a PDF, tiny white lines show up where I have invisible lines in Illustrator. These invisible lines were put there in the first place so I could have set regions for the live paint without them showing. I'm not sure why they are showing up when I export.
I have tried multiple PDF settings and also tried flattening the layers and attempting to use Transparency Flattener Presets and export it as a PDF 1.3 but it is still greyed out in the export options when I try.
I've attached a screenshot of the PDF after it has been exported to see the lines. You will notice black lines and thicker white lines (like the one at the top), these are intentional. the ones that are undesired is the thin one near the bottom whre you can see theres a break point in color and then multiple ones going up. Deleting these with live paint selection, expanding the art, using direct selection tool to delete all ruin the art flow or do not work.

How to get lines that export with transparent "fill" without booleaning them together? When I do this the lines change so I'd like to find a way to just keep the information on top and ignore what's behind entirely (including the fill) so that I only have lines and no fills. Its for printing on fabric and such.

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhat i did wrong, but suddenly lines with different colors are all displayed as gray. I could attach the file, but the problem is really simple. I have three lines and under properties i can clearly see that one should be red, the other should be color 250 and the third 253, but visually all the lines look gray (i believe they look 253 to be exact).
If i draw new lines, the colors act normally, but the old lines are all gray.
I have built a alingment, corridor, and surface of a driveway but I have a few holes in my surface. I tried to add lines to my TIN surface and some filled in properly but others would not and I had TIN lines that crossed (actually they are 4 different lines that meet at on point). Why does this happen and how can I fix it?
