I have a set of styles created in 2010, the company I currently work for needs to have new styles added and I would like to use some of the styles I created to make my life a bit simpler in this process. I have created an Overall.dwt file using the current styles the company i work for has and I have imported my styles into this dwt. As im renaming these styles for my new company I noticed under the general tab for text style and block style I have text and block styles with my old companies name but i cant seem to find where the blocks or text style is being pulled from so i can edit it with a new name. So my question is where are these styles being saved so i can edit them
In the surface styles dialog under analysis you can edit elevations, colors, etc. EXCEPT for user contours. What I would like to do is edit these for user contours, then when I created it there would be a default of sorts.
is there any way to set a default for user contours in the style?
I am using C3D 2012. I have a pipe network catalog located on our office network server. I have a pipe size shown as 15" that is incorrect, it should read and label the pipe as 16" (see attached image). I don't know a lot of the workings how to edit this from 15 to 16 inch and what I need to do to get it correct for the other C3D users in the office.
I am trying to add points into a surface. I have done this before without any problems, but now I am having issues.
When I ID points which makes up the surface it gives me the correct Z level e.g. 24.5m, however when I hover over the surface it shows me the surface name and a different z level e.g. 0.65m. What is the reason for this difference in z levels? I think this may be causing the issue I am having when I add new points.
I select the surface and use the 'edit surface command' in the ribbon, choosing add point.
When I add a point at the level I require(23.89m), it puts it in a lot higher than the surrounding area, so I tried to put the point in to the lower z levels (0.4m) it puts it in a lot lower!
How do you apply certain contour label styles to certain surface styles (i.e. When I have an existing surface i want the default contour labels to be an "existing contour" style). Right now the default is a "finished contour" label style for all surfaces.
I received a drawing today that doesn't allow me to choose existing ".ctb" files. Opening the "Plot style table (pen assignments)" from the Page Setup dialogue box. I can choose "Start from scratch" , use a "CFG" file, or "Use a PCP or PC2" file". I do not have any CFG files. I usually use PCP in my "Plot" dialogue box for the plotter pull-down menu.
How to use my plot style "BRhalf.ctb" when plotting this drawing. Also, a "heads-up" on background information on this drawing's plot style options, vs. the plot style options on many other drawings I have plotted.
I'm trying to create an all new existing surface over existing ground. I have a TIN surface of the EG, and I have drawn overlay splines that describe the new surface, but how to go about creating that design surface.
It is a compound surface, open on one end and closed all around on the other, somewhat like a half of a football stadium, but with an irregular upper edge because I am needing to figure out cuts and fills to manipulate the EG into this new surface without costly major terraforming. There is about 40-50' vertical elevation between the "field" and the upper rim with a generally constant 7-10 deg. slope all around. I'm just at a loss to figure out how to approach this project, and am quite new to Civil 3D.

I am having trouble editing existing imported toolbars. Also, I cannot retrieve my custom toolbars into 2012. When I convert older menus (mnu) into 2012 the tool bars all have question marks on them, and my custom toolbars are not listed. I cannot go into CUI customization and click on a button to edit it's command and or icon. The older version of cad is not on my new system so I cannot use the migration tool.
Some background: We have a composite surface of existing surveyed contours as a TIN pasted into existing aerial contours that we received from a client. We used polylines to generate our proposed contours, and then generated a proposed surface from that. We've made a blank surface, pasted in the existing surface, and are trying to paste in our proposed surface... only the existing contours outside of the proposed suface no longer line up correctly once we do.
We've tried applying the method laid out here: [URL] ........ (and the link referenced in the bottom) but are still having trouble getting the surface to work. We've tried offsetting as little as 0.25' and as much as 5' with the feature line draped over the existing surface, but it seemed that the greater the offset, the greater the discrepancy.
Just to make sure we even tried that correctly - should the breaklines that we add be standard or non-destructive? (I've tried it both ways with little success either way, so I don't know if it matters much in this instance, but perhaps for future reference it would work.)
I've attached a screen shot of our surfaces. The pink and green lines are the proposed contours, the white dashed are the existing. The outer red line is offset 0.25'. As I've mentioned, we've tried offsetting various amounts with decreasing success.
Here's my question re: editing an exisiting mask in CS6.
So, say I create the basic selection with the quick selection wand - for this example, maybe a selection of a horse.
But, if I don't get the area between the horses legs and want to select that area with the pen tool then delete it from the exisitng mask (i.e. clean up the mask with the pen tool) how do I do it?
I've seen lots of tutorials that talk about adding selections together, but that doesn't work in this case because my secondary selection is within the original selection.
I know this can be done with the brush tool (cleaning up masks) but I'd like to do it with the pen tool because the results are better.
I can't seem to change the text layer in this logo I have attached. I thought if I click on the layer I would be able to change spelling. Do I have to delete the layer and add a new one?
I have an existing font I I want to chop and change about eight characters of the font. The changes I need to make are very small slight change to the stand of the A.
I'm very new to corel draw - I have tried reading the tut's on creating your own font but I think it is a little overkill for me needs.
Can I convert an existing font to curves do the slight changes then export it as a TTF ?
I created a basic layout with some boxes in Dreamweaver. I set the Overflow property on them to "Hidden". I then opened the page in Edge Animate. However I noticed that when I import stuff, such as an image, then try to drag it into one of the existing DIV's, it won't work. It stays on top of all the other DIV's. However if I create a box or some other sort of DIV directly in Edge Animate, I can drag the Image element into that, so it's enclosed within that DIV.
I guess the workaround appears to be to embed the image into the DIV in Dreamweaver first, then open the page in Edge. However it would be nice to not have to keep jumping back and forth like that. Is there a way to do this in Edge Animate?
Also, I noticed when I select one of the DIVs I made in Dreamweaver, many of the Properties such as Corners, Shadow, and Filters are missing. Can these only be used on DIV's created directly in Edge Animate?
So I'm in the process of upgrading a project from C3D 2011 -> 2012. As a part of the upgrade process I'm doing some drawing cleanup such as purging unused layers/objects, purging regapps, deleting unused scales and finally taking advantage of the Styles Manager in 2012 and purging unused styles.
However, I'm noticing that almost all of my styles are coming up as "unused" unless they are attached to drawing settings, even though there is clearly objects in that drawing using those styles. I noticed this was happening when after running a purge my road profile lines were disappearing because the style no longer existed.
The items that have styles attached are DREF'd into the drawing and are not "live" objects in the drawing, if that makes any difference.
We did the upgrade last week and I am trying to use the drag and drop to bring styles and description keys across. Done it many times between 10 drawings. I am opening 2 drawings-one from 10 with everything I want and one in 12 to be my template.
Problem is I am only seeing one the current drawing when I click on TOOLSPACE.
I may not be using styles as efficiently as I should. I always seem to be creating styles to meet different circumstances. As shown below if I have any text that can have an arrow, directional or dragged state and a mask, I always end up creating more styles for times I don't want the arrow and/or the mask.
If there is a 3rd of 4th component this can multiply quickly. Am I missing an easier way to handle this or is this what is normally done?
I had this working in C3D2011 but after having severe issued with it in 2014 I went back and tested in 2012 & 2013 where it failed as well.
If I collect all supported styles using C3D 2014 & SincpacC3D's Export Styles command and export them to a newly created Database, when trying to open that new drawing it will crash C3D with no CER. Trying to run Recover on it results in a few screen flashes and back to the original drawing/screen and no opening of that new file. However, if I limit the selected styles to Export to just label styles, the drawing opens but I get this warning:
But wait, C3D2014 IS the latest version! What the heck is going on inside that code? I cannot show the full code, but the gist of it is that creating and saving a new DWG file is pretty straight forward. As soon as I add in the StyleBase.ExportTo(exportIds, outDb, dupHandler); the file becomes highly unstable.
Again, this worked well at one time, but it sure is not now and I cannot find any reason for it to be creating these bad drawings.
I am specifically working with the Section Major Offset lable. The City of Dallas wants the lable to call out the Offset distance and direction over the elevation (example "30.0' LT."). Since zero has not offset direction the label reads "0.0' T." at the center point. Is there a way to include an if/then statement in the label style to remove the hard coded text?
I can't find information for how a block's text is utilized in a style. Here are some details. I have a unitless block with a non annotative text size of 10. This block is part of a style with a size 'use drawing scale' of .12. At 40 scale, it inserts at 4.8 size. If I change the text size to 8 it inserts at 4.8. If I hcange the text size to 5, it inserts at 3.
My question is how are the annotation scale, block text size, and style insert size tied together? OR are there other variables influencing the scaling? I have attached a screen shot of some of my unofficial tests.

I have been out of civil 3d for a while so a bit rusty, I like to have a surface with contours, so that I have 0.1m increments min and 0.5m max but when I go to the surface properties to amend it I would have a standard set of 1m to 5m design & 2m to 5m background etc... in the surface style...
I make a code set style by doubling the "all codes" style. Then make styles of links points and shapes in which i turn off the visibility in model. I also leave the render materials in links.
I try the set with 3d orbit. But as i turn around the model the rendering materials start to uglify..I attach an image to better understand what i am saying.
When i turn on the visibility of links the problem solved.
Trying to figure out how to define the folder I want my drawing to search in to find a specific set of point styles we have set-up. As it is set up right now, I am not sure where the program is looking to find the standard set of point styles it is showing, but its just showing basic civil point (ie. CB's, IP's, BM's, etc.). I have tried a few things to make it automatically grab the point styles I have in a set-up folder but is won;t display them.
The reason I need this, is that I want to set it up so that when I import points from my survey file, I want them to automatically insert into my drawing as the correct block (or point style), based on the survey code used.
I went to import some line label styles from my template with the Style manager and found about they were grayed out. For some reason the curve styles were not. Why would this be? The new drawing only had a standard line label style.
