I had a crash with Windows Vista - go figure - and I had a backup copy of Civil 3D 09 on an external drive. I am trying to do a flat install but everytime I click on setup it gives me an error message " The copy functions cannot be used. Failed to copy the following files: SetupRes to C:UsersDavidAppDataLocalTemp\_AIA.tmp.
View 2 RepliesFollowing on from my post regarding a sheet metal component that was unable to create a flat pattern due to creating the component in an assembly; URL....I have found out that it wasn't the in place component that was the problem it seems to be the loft and sweep feature that cause this problem. I have thought about using the extrude feature (as this works) to create the shape and then cutting the ends to get the angles I want but that would be time consuming.
I have set up the sheet metal rule to be 3mm mild steel, any way creating this component and being able to create a flat pattern.
running an assembly in to the road corridor and creating a surface. i have designed a network of Roads in CIVIL 3d in which whole network is surrounded by a Loop road. The loop road cross fall is unidirectional (2%) and 4.5 wide. I have used LaneOutsideSuperWithWidening subassembly to create the assembly of the road. This doesnt contain any kerb or footpath but only road channel lines, The corridor run soomthly but after creating the of the loop road corridor the surface is becoming flat meaning there isn't any cross fall acoss the road but in the assembly crossfall is there. If i run the same assembly in another road alignment the suface is coming absolutely correct.
I also tried different road assemblies to run along the loop road but the result is same no cross fall across the road.
I am trying to fix the grading on a flat site. As part of that I have all the islands labled A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3.
I would like to have the feature lines have the same prefix as the islands. I can create feature line and it will give me the option "Feature". I over write to A1, etc. The next time I add a feature line it flips back to "Feature"
How it picks the prefix for the 6" offset for top & bottom of curb. It would be nice to be able have it keep the prefix until you tell it differently without having to flip to the settings tab for each island.

I am using Civil 3d 2012 and an trying to apply elevation banding (one color) to a surface that is completely flat. Everything seems to be in order but nothing shows up. If I add another point file to it that has a variety of elevations then the elevation bands show up, if i remove it it disappears again. I can view the boundary and get elevation readings when I mouse over the surface.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have created a proposed centerline along my existing roadway, which represents along my profile. I have created an assembly for my proposed raod with a crown, and a 2% cross-fall in each direction.
But when I generate my sections, all my proposed assemblies show up in the proper location on my section views, except there is no cross-fall showing on any of them? They are all being shown in my sections as dead flat! 0%? I've been looking for a setting to change this.? I have also deleted, and recreated my corridors and regenerate my sections, only to get the same results!
When I add contour data to my surface, I uncheck all the boxes in "Minimize flat areas by:" except "Swapping edges", and I check the "Swapping edges" box. The next time I add contours, I have to uncheck the same boxes, and check the "Swapping edges" box. I can set the default Mid-ordinate distance, etc. but I can't find anywhere in the settings that I can preset the check boxes for minimizing flat areas.

When I look to modify a deployment I cannot find the option to add SSA.

I've been having issues recently installing Object Enabler for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 on a few machines. I downloaded the installer from the AutoDesk website, but when running, it comes up and says it can't find any install of Civil 3D 2012..
Currently have AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 and it's object enabler installed... Also have AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 installed but can't get the OE to install for it. Running the 64bit shows nothing to install to, and the 32 bit installation only shows an option for "Language Pack".
I'm trying to decide whether it is worth keeping up with the C3D releases every year. One thing I wanted to try was to see if 2014 worked any better on the key things I need, but I don't want to stuff up my 2013 installation. know if I can do a separate install safely?

I often have to do storm pond surfaces that (for the purposes of planning) are flat on the bottom. These surfaces are created from a combination of survey data and grading groups and the tin of these surfaces is perfectably acceptable. However, when contours are shown, the flat bottom is shown with contours jig-jagging all over the place.
The attached image shows a comparison of the same pond. The top was created with survey data and grading groups; the bottom was created using contour data only. The generated surface on the top shows the bottom contour going in different directions and has parts where the an expected contour is missing.
How to correct/manipulate the surface to show a proper flat surface?
I am trying to export geometry found in a flat pattern sketch overlaid onto the flat pattern.
Since I am creating the output file manually I gather the flat pattern boundaries and bend center lines for output to a file.
When I add flat pattern sketch entities to the mix they do not overlay properly. What matrix would I have to push the sketch entities through to get them to the same coordinates as the flat pattern?

I’m reading through readme file for the Architecture-MEP 2014 Object Enabler & noticed that it’s installed as part of the normal installation of all AutoCAD 2014 based products, including Civil 3D…woohoo! Unfortunately, the Structural & Plant OE’s don’t appear to have a readme file. Are these also installed as part of the normal installation of C3D 2014? Or will they need to be installed separately?
We have 2011 installed have customized some of the .XSL reports in ProgramDataAutodeskC3D 2011enuDataReportsxsl
After installing 2013, the %ReportDir% variable for 2011 is pointing to the 2013 install, where the reports have NOT been customized. So when you run a report in 2011, it is using the XSL files in the 2013 location.
So the long and the short of it is the 2013 install broke our 2011 custom reporting ability.how to control the %ReportDir% variable in 2011?

The installation of IDSP has been an adventure. After a few rough starts Autodesk support team got us through the installation of 2 computers. Now I am attempting to install IDSP on my computer and have run into a number of errors that between this forum and Autodesk support I have worked through.
I start the install once again and looked like everything was installing ok.
That is until I get an message "Allied product is not found" and the install fails and removes all installations up to this point. The failure happened while installing the Civil 3D Language Pack.
Install log states:

Currently I have to dxfin a converted .job file to get my survey feature text and field comments into my drawing.
Question #1 How do I get rid of the point node associated with the points that have comments? All I want is the text, no nodes.
Question #2 What layer does the block come in on?
Question #3 Do I need to merge the block to my drawing?
Questoin #4 How do I manipulate the text? Can I create styles for it? Becasue it looks horrible as a .dxf block.
i type in xr and the box shows up but when i go to attach a dwg or image the box usually shows up so i can browse through and find the dwg i want to xref but the box doesn't show up all it says at the bottom in the command line is ATTACH
If i use the command classicxref then everything is fine i can attach anything i want. i checked the filedia and it is set to (1)
I installed Infrastructure Design Suite 2013 on my pc to try, when using 2012.
F1 doesn't work and neither does any of the buttons on the Help ribbon. I haven't uninstalled the 2013 version yet. Was hoping to not have to.
I have several user in my company with issues using Mapwspace.
1. I have imported a Nearmap image, (using command mapwspace) and drawn lines over and around the site, plus added sample points, and notes, and cadastre. These are clearly to be seen when the drawing is loading, but when the image comes in, everything disappears, except for the legend and text in paperspace.
I have replicated this issues, and when i tested it i got mixed results.I also got the image to hold, but hen i closed and re opened the drawing the image disappeared.
2. Another users is loosing more then images from MAPWSPACE, including GIS data sets. The content is disappearing when Vports are created.I have replicated this issues and the image disappeared when i created the Vport also? We are using Civil 3D 2012, SP1.
I am having a problem with one of our draweings, when I select Export > Autocad DWG 2010, nothing happens. I have tried opening another Civil 3D drawing, and it works fine. I can see the command on the command line, but no error or anything after it, just does not do anything.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have CS2 Premium which I'm running on an older PowerPC Mac (G5 - Dual 2.3 GHz ) running OS 10.4.11. I've had this setup for many many years (registered/activated with Adobe) but suddenly one day I could no longer launch my Photoshop app: when I clicked on the Pshop icon it would start the launch (open) procedure ... and then almost instantly it would quit (in just a few seconds ... before the application even got to the 'title/credit' screen).
I've recently tried uninstalling CS2 (everything except Acrobat) and I ended up doing a manual uninstall of Version Cue. I've been on Macs for 20+ years so figured this would be a pretty straightforward procedure - uninstall -> reinstall and then back to work. Nope.
I'm attempting a fresh installation direct from the original CS2 CDs. In any event, when I try to (re)install CS2 - and after going through the standard screens with Adobe's usage terms agreement and installation hard disk selection - I arrive at the screen where one selects which application(s) to install by checking the various boxes (or alternately, to install the entire suite) but the 'Adobe Photoshop CS2/Adobe ImageReady CS2' line and checkbox are grayed out, so it will not allow me to check them and continue with the Photoshop installation process.
How do I re-install AI CC after it's been uninstalled because the initial install was corrupt? AI isn't availbale for download again in the app section of CC.

I made a simple Windows.Form in which are check boxes (on for each layer of the CAD drawing).
Just to set the visibility of each layer. Everything is working fine, but I have a little problem with refreshing a drawing.
Changes of visibility settings are applied after a form is closed.
I need the drawing to be refreshed after every check box check change.

I'm exploring the option of going from normal autocad and PDS (for our road designs) to fully using Civil 3D 2013.
Generally we only recieve a survey drawing as a 2d cad file with height points represented as 2d text.
In PDS all we need do is 'convert text to point' and create a ground model, this gives us a 3d ground mesh to work with.
In Civil 3d i've found 'movetexttoelevation' but now i'm stuck with adding a point at the node of the text object, and then I need to creat a surface model to overlay a 2d siteplan andstart creating our roads.
Just had to repair my installation, now I am unable to use any Civil 3D commands, anything with "AECC" in front of it is coming back with "unknown command"?
