AutoCAD Architecture :: Paste To Original Coordinates
May 5, 2009
This is a command I frequently use. However, upon installation of 2010 Architecture, this right click option is usually greyed out, and doesn't allow me to use that command. Nothing different than how I normally use it.
I am trying to use the command PASTEORIG and it does not work for me in AutoCAD 2013 or Civil 3D 2013. Is this a known issue with a fix or am I missing something here?
I know for the longest time to paste to original cooridinates you had to select an object and right click and paste by using the menu. I also used to create a keyboard shortcut that let me use Ctrl+Shift+V, but now these workarounds do not work either. It echos the command on the command line, but does nothing, not even a returned error.
This is a pretty significant issue when working in the Civil field.
Civil 3D 2013 Windows 7 64-bit Xeon W3550 3.07 GHz Nvidia Quadro 4000 12.0 GB RAM
This option is available some of the time but not always - I can't determine how or why. But, when I really want it it is not available.
Select an object in dwg 1
Right click, select Clipboard, then Copy
In dwg 2, right click, select Clipboard, Paste to Original Coordinates is greyed out. The Edit menu usually has the option available, but not always.
If I enter pasteorig at the command line, it works fine. I don't see anything wrong in CUI - the code in the Edit menu is the same as the code in the Shortcut.
I am currently designing a kitchen with a complete floor plan. I had requested some accessories files from a company called Pearl works and they sent me each file that I requested. The problem is that when I copy and paste each image file into my existing floor plan, they all show up as the same image and not the seperate images that should appear. Am I doing something wrong with the clipboard process?
I have also tried deleting the drawing and re-inserting a different file and when I do every file thereafter is the same as the one that I just switched.
I have two DWG files and I want to paste the content of the first into the second file with the original coordinates. It sounds very easy (and I am sure it is) but I am still failing. I open the first file, select all (crtl a), copy all (crtl a), open the other file and want to chose the function: right click > paste with original coordinates. But this open is not active (grey) and can not be clicked. Actually there is no paste function available to click on if I do a right click.
In Autocad 2013, when I highlight a drawing in model space and copy, then go to new drawing and paste to original coordinates, everything comes in fine except for blocks. the blocks get thrown far away from everything else.
I got a little issue about pasting by coordinates from one drawing to another. Drawing are absoloutely similiar, both ucs's checked (world) and units are same. why i cant paste ?
We are running multiple standalone AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 seats. On some of the systems, paste and paste to original coordinates is greyed out when copying from one drawing to another.
I want to move our firm to using a UCS that aligns with the viewport.
However my hesitation has always been that World does not seem to restore to the original coordinates.
We do survey drafting and the map grid coordinates are critical and we drop in new survey data over the existing on a regular basis.
I tested it again last week but still I cannot insert new data into the same position even after restoring to World UCS. It is consistently about 1.5 units offset from the correct position.
Am I doing something wrong? Should USC World set it back the identical original coordinates such that I could confidently paste with a 0,0 base point and have geometry by in the correct position.
To copy some objects from a drawing and then you paste them in another drawing command 'Paste to original coordinates ', but this command line is not active (available in window of right click and then use the option 'Paste to Original Coordinates').
whe i try to draw a pline it accepts the first numerical entry but locks up on the second point. Also when i use this command no matter what layer it is on the line becomes very fat
I'm using AutoCAD Architecture 2012 for interior design. I need to rotate/move some materials, I know how to do it, but after mapping it, when I need to make any drawing modification, the mapped material resets to their default, and not ionly the modificated solid, but everything that I have mapped.
How do I save the mapping coordinates, to avoid the need to map everything everytime?
I have changed the color of some of the xref file layer in my drawing manually from the layer manager. Is there any way of getting the original color back without detaching and reattaching the xref's in a quick way?
What is the best way to setup Plot Co-Ordinates that have a tag that updates as you move the co-ordinate point and also I would like to schedule these points in a table ..
My content browser doesn't have the original options it used to have, instead it has a customized version. But the customized version does not have anything in it. How do I get it back? No matter where I search in CAD or in my files I can't find the original. Do I have to uninstall and install the program again?
I am having problems trying to produce an image with reflections. I have been doing it in the past with Xara4. My procedure is to take a number of images, create copies of them, flip them then add transparency once they are in place as refelctions. These are all placed onto a dark background; reflections are stretching beyond the background at this stage. And in the past if I select all, then Arrange>Combine Shapes>Intersect Shapes then I can have the whole image without the transparent regions of the reflections. My plan is to have the background transparent and save all as a png to preserve the transparency on web. But it doesn't seem to happen in my latest attempts. Instead at the Intersect Shapes stage I get a tiny part of the background as my final image....
I have recently upgraded from LT2011 TO Architecture 2013. I always use perpendicular tracking when copy and pasting but when I want to copy (or paste) a certain distance perpendicular to that object it doesn't like it. It's tricky to explain but say I wanted to copy a block of a teble 1200mm from the original block I'd copy, hover over the basepoint and move my cursor in the intended direction and type in 1200 and enter. The previous version of AutoCAD worked this command fine but since the upgrade I'm having trouble. Surely it's something as simple as changing the drafting settings bit I've gone through them all and no luck.
I recently made the switch at work from AutoCAD 2000 to 2012. Right now I’m working with a small drawing and the copy paste option is taking forever, I wasn’t sure if it was the drawing so I went to a previous large file and that takes even longer.
I just finished a logo design in corel draw x5.The design was made on a a4 dimensions.I copy the elements to paste them into a much smaller canvas but the image when minimized is pixelated not vectored as the original.
How can I paste the image and the image is as the original (vectored)?
i am trying to translate a Point coordinates from Paperspce to world coordinates in model space. The code i used in Land2006 worked OK but now in Civil3d 2012 it doesn't!
Private Sub GetPlais_Click() Dim tmpnt1 As Variant, tmpnt2 As Variant, tmpPnt1 As Variant Dim lole(0 To 2) As Double, upri(0 To 2) As Double Dim returnobj As AcadObject

I'm a GIS analyst trying to learn Cad. I'd like to place a single point in autocad model space at a specific Northing/Easting position. After reading several forum threads I don't think CAD allows me to change the coordinate system of model space from map coords to northing easting coords, as we can in GIS.
Having a problem with Paste and Paste as Block in the right mouse click drop down window.
In the right Mouse click drop down window the Paste, Paste as Block and the Paste to Original Coordinates are grayed out.
The copy with Base Point works, as does the Ctrl+V and Ctrl+Shift+V and repeat Paste Block from the recent Input drop down selection. Why the paste commands are grayed out?
When you select the option to apply any changes & overwrite your original photo does the program attempt to try to a default setting to keep the picture approximately the same size as it was before? (assuming that you haven't cropped it) If it doesn't default to a size automatically can is there an option to do so?
