Dec 24, 2011I have some problem with paste to original coordinate that it appears as grey in right click as shown in attached file but it can paste from ribbon.

I use the command UCS, Object, Select my base point and measure from there rather than cluttering measurement lines; however, without using UCS, Previous when ever i copy and paste the base point for the copy paste is off.. yes i can reset just wondering why it does this.

Mar 5, 2013I am trying to use the command PASTEORIG and it does not work for me in AutoCAD 2013 or Civil 3D 2013. Is this a known issue with a fix or am I missing something here?
I know for the longest time to paste to original cooridinates you had to select an object and right click and paste by using the menu. I also used to create a keyboard shortcut that let me use Ctrl+Shift+V, but now these workarounds do not work either. It echos the command on the command line, but does nothing, not even a returned error.
This is a pretty significant issue when working in the Civil field.

Oct 14, 2011This option is available some of the time but not always - I can't determine how or why. But, when I really want it it is not available.
Select an object in dwg 1
Right click, select Clipboard, then Copy
In dwg 2, right click, select Clipboard, Paste to Original Coordinates is greyed out. The Edit menu usually has the option available, but not always.
If I enter pasteorig at the command line, it works fine. I don't see anything wrong in CUI - the code in the Edit menu is the same as the code in the Shortcut.

May 5, 2009This is a command I frequently use. However, upon installation of 2010 Architecture, this right click option is usually greyed out, and doesn't allow me to use that command. Nothing different than how I normally use it.

Nov 20, 2012I am currently designing a kitchen with a complete floor plan. I had requested some accessories files from a company called Pearl works and they sent me each file that I requested. The problem is that when I copy and paste each image file into my existing floor plan, they all show up as the same image and not the seperate images that should appear. Am I doing something wrong with the clipboard process?
I have also tried deleting the drawing and re-inserting a different file and when I do every file thereafter is the same as the one that I just switched.

Aug 1, 2012I have two DWG files and I want to paste the content of the first into the second file with the original coordinates. It sounds very easy (and I am sure it is) but I am still failing. I open the first file, select all (crtl a), copy all (crtl a), open the other file and want to chose the function: right click > paste with original coordinates. But this open is not active (grey) and can not be clicked. Actually there is no paste function available to click on if I do a right click.
btw. I am working with AutoCAD 2012.

Jan 26, 2011I am having problems trying to produce an image with reflections. I have been doing it in the past with Xara4. My procedure is to take a number of images, create copies of them, flip them then add transparency once they are in place as refelctions. These are all placed onto a dark background; reflections are stretching beyond the background at this stage. And in the past if I select all, then Arrange>Combine Shapes>Intersect Shapes then I can have the whole image without the transparent regions of the reflections. My plan is to have the background transparent and save all as a png to preserve the transparency on web. But it doesn't seem to happen in my latest attempts. Instead at the Intersect Shapes stage I get a tiny part of the background as my final image....

Jul 14, 2012I'm finding myself on more and more sites that use multiple coordinate systems and height datums.
We have 3 on this job. One is the MGA zone 50 GDA94, another is just an offset of this and the third is a strange local grid with offsets and rotations.
We have Excel spreadsheets that can convert between the systems, but that requires several extra steps per point.
Is it possible to define each coordinate system in one drawing so that I could select which system I wanted to use, input the points and then select the main coordinate system so it converts the coordinates directly? It would mean less steps and I would have greater confidence in this system.
We have the parameters for all systems.

There are load of different coordinate systems to choose from, and I don’t want to have to manually enter it for every drawing.

Aug 1, 2012I have a problem with different coordinate systems. I have a drawing in old Finnish coordinate system (KKJ, kaista 4) and I have a point file, which is made in ETRS-GK29 coordinate system. When I try to transfer the points to the drawing, the points will land way off from the drawing or I get this error message "Coordinate transformation from ETRF89.FinlandGK-29 to FINL-KKJ4 failed for point located at {29511662.554000,6948599.365000}. This usually indicates the point falls outside the boundaries of the destination coordinate system". I have checked and the point {29511662.554000,6948599.365000} should be over the drawing.

Nov 20, 2012My group is trying to convert a dwg from one coordinate system to another. The original drawing contains points, blocks, etc. in 1 system and we need it in a different one. We tried attaching the dwg to a new map with the new system using a layer query, but this did not appear to bring in the objects into the new system.
"Structures" is in the original system (OR83-NF), "StructuresHarn" is in the desired system (ORHP-NIF)

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Coordinate Transformation Results
Feb 21, 2012I am using Civil 3D and Map 3D 2010.
I have some points in a drawing set up in a coordinate system and using a specified point file format, I successfully exported them to another coordinate system for use by our surveyors. I also wanted the pipe route in my destination drawing so I created a shp file from a polyline representing the pipe route in the original drawing using Map 3D Export. When I imported the shp file into my destination drawing there appears to be a slight horizontal difference from the point locations. The shp file doesn't land directly on the points.
To try another comparison, I ran a query on the pipe route to perform a manual coordinate system transformation. The result of this is the exact same as the shp file.
My questions are, which method (exporting points vs. shp files) results in the correct coordinate transformation and why are they different? When exporting points I am not using any specific transformation settings, I am simply selecting the destination coordinate system. When exporting a shp file, Map 3D creates a prj file from the specified coordinate system in the drawing. Are there any other settings I need to adjust to get the same result with both processes? The only thing I can think of is I only have the coordinates out to 4 decimal places in my point file format, do I need to go out farther?

Jul 9, 2012My Civil 3D 2012 coordinate systems normally displayed on the units and zone tab of the drawing settings have disappeared. On existing drawings the coordinate system code is still displayed. On new drawings the code appears as a symbol - a period or a comma or something. I can enter the coordinate system code and the program recognizes it.
My Civil 3D 2011 coordinate systems display as expected.

I would still wan everything in the dwg to be in west zone but be able to display coordinate values in other zones.

I am trying to create a tin surface in autoCAD from a raster dataset in GIS. Originally, my raster dataset was in UTM's (Zone 10N), and my CAD drawings were in CA State Plane (zone 2, US feet). Both NAD83. But I have, to date, been unable to get AutoCAD to correctly convert between these two coordinate systems. I thought, hmm.. let's just convert to State Plane in GIS and then add to the surface definition in AutoCAD. I had hoped this approach would 'go easy' on autoCAD as it would not need to do any conversions. Turns out, that does not appear to work either. In fact, it is even further 'off' than before... I hope the attached PDF illustrates the situation clearly. AutoCAD's mapImport command works great. The surface boundary can be imported and appears to have the correct coordinates. The surface, with the dem added to the definition, however, does not. It is shifted down and to the left.

Mar 23, 2012I've been using the COGOEditor in civil 3D 2012. I enter a description for each entry. The description does not get saved. If i open the traverse file using a text editor, enter a description, save it, then reopen in COGOEditor, I still don't see any descriptions.
