AutoCAD Architecture :: Globally Edit Lineweights Of Certain Components?
Nov 7, 2011
Is there any easy way to globally edit lineweights of certain components? Several of the components look fantastic at one scale and terrible at another. Some we just need to lighten but I cannot find where to edit them. I can always (of course) edit the block once it is inserted or edit layers in each drawing but would prefer a more permanent solution.

I am a student studying architecture and I cannot seem to plot the line weights in my drawing. I'm using a dwg to pdf ploter. The plot styles I have tired, have included monochrom ctb and monochrome 1 to 50 ctb.

I know how to add components horizontally to a wall like brick in the front and air space, etc. My question is how to have bottom 2 feet of wall to be of one material and the top of another material.

I want to change the color of a material definition in 2d wireframe (plan view). For example, for walls, when the mat. def. is checked in the wall display props, the hatching shows orange->color 30.
When I look at one of the materials listed for said wall, in style manager, for that display component, there are diplay components similar to an object format, but in the mat. def. the components control the color (see attached example).
Now is there a "master setting" to change them - I want to change say the plan linework or section hatch to a different color to match our layer color standards or do I have to go into every since display rep. for every single mat. definition and change them or is there a way I can do it once & all will change?
The out of the box objects are great but what I am worried about is that those colors that are given don't work well with our office standard, esp. if we go back to old projects.

I am using AutoCad Architecture 2011. In the Style Manager, I created a wall style using a 8"CMU unit plus a 2" insulation board. I have a gable roof slab that intersects with the wall. I want to trim the insulation board along the bottom of the roof slab, and show the CMU above the roof slab.

I am just getting started with ACA 2010 and am impressed at what it can do. However, I am trying to change the material for 1 wall or 1 slab. When I try, it changes the material for all walls or slabs. I have read something about a propagate option on the materials menu, but I can't find it.

I am drawing a house with a hip roof. The roof has a overhang with fascia and soffit. What is the best way to construct the components of the roof system. Should the hip roof and the soffit with fascia to be one system or two separate systems?

I have a floor joist/subfloor/finish floor system where the joists are hung from the sill inside the foundation wall, this means that the joists stop at the wall but the subfloor will continue over the sill plate and the finish floor will stop at the inside edge of the bottom wall plate. As near as I can figure, in order to get this to show correctly in section I really need to create the complete floor assembly by stacking 3 separate floor sub-assemblies (framing, sub-floor, finish floor) is this correct? (this is the method I'm currently using) Is there a way to manipulate the sub-components in section that I haven't found?

Is there a way to add/remove vertices from polylines using the grips method similar to editing hatch boundaries? I know of "Pedit" and "edit vertex" then "add vertex" but this seems like too many steps after working with hatch boundaries.

I was using the 'Isolate Objects in Plan' on my Model when I experienced a fatal error, and my system went down. So I went to my latest Autosave and opened it back up, only lost 5 minutes at the most. No, big deal, right?
But now I have objects missing, and when I go to save it says...
..."Save command is not allowed when edit in view session is active"...
It must still be in Edit in view, the only problem is that the small dialog box which takes me out of edit in view is missing. So, how am I supposed to exit this session? I have nothing active in the ribbon, nothing in the tabs a the bottom of the screen.

When I click on 'Edit Linework', the hatch automatically turns off to allow me to edit the linework... Can one edit the Hatching?

I created my own tools of own content on my own pallets and then found . you can drag a whole tab into the browser to quickly archive your tools. Having reinstalled I have 'dropped the collections back to ACA12 and all my tools restored.
However I can no longer edit or add to these tool pallets. I cannot edit any properties within tools either. There is no lock symbol on the pallet that I can see, only a refresh symbol.
The .atc file they reference (found from the Content Browser location they came from) is not set to read only. Permissions seem to be set to allow read, modify, write etc. I first used the 'My Tool Catalog' provided but also copied it all back to a new catalog but it's still locked.

I am running Architecture 2014 (PrDS-U) on a Windows8 Pro N.
In Architecture I am a frequent user of the Project Navigator.
After moving to W8, I find that I can not edit Project properties, neither from Project Browser nor the Navigator.
The project resides on my local C:VCC and the folder is being shared on my network. It is not write protected. Everyone has full access.
Others who are connected to the share can edit the project, they are running Windows 7. I cannot.

I'm getting very long run times to edit x refs in place. Once the exref drawing opens, sometimes after 2 or three minutes, and I make my edit, It can take ten minuted to close the xref.
Drawing are clean, purged, -purged, recovered audited. Computer is new workstation and dedicated to CAD only. Very little opportunity for corrupted files.

in 2000 I was able to discover a command that allowed you to renumber a large selection of blocks in order. I have been searching for that command again every time I need to renumber a floor plan due to the addition of new spaces. What this command was and if it is still available in 2010? It would save a ton of time!

The way it looks I should be able to edit the propertyset data though an XRef... but all the properties are grayed out. I thought it was because I also had the XRef open... so I closed it. Still the same result.
The discription says "Edit property set data in the current drawing or through external references. Add or Remove property sets."
Am I not understanding the tool - or what?

We have an intern that has somehow made it impossible for her to edit inside viewports(switching to model space) on her layouts. None of us has seen this before and do not know how to reverse what she has done. This happens with any drawing she opens. She can edit when in the model space tab, but when she goes to one of the layout tabs and double clicks on the viewport she cannot edit. The viewports are not locked.
We have had several people look at it and cannot find what command or setting she changed. She does not have admin rights so I do not think she could have run a script. She is not familiar with AutoCAD Architecture, her experience has been limited to Revit.

Also in addition to that my toolbars are gone, but i can recover those when i have my tool bars.

Seems like Multi-View Blocks are like that hot red-head in high school that you really want to get to know until you get to know them.
I made a bunch of blocks for my electrical plans. Annotative symbols for plan view, 3D blocks for model view, and elevation blocks for elevations. I then started creating the MVBs.
Upon insertion the annotative blocks appear super small and the model view blocks scale way up. The model view blocks are not annotative and are not supposed to scale at all. It seems MVBs see any block inside that is annotative as an indication that the entire MVB shall be annotative. Fustrated, I finally found a work-around that is a bit half-arsed:
I made another block as a sort of holder for the annotative symbols that was set to not be annotative and inserted that into the MVB. VOILA! the MVB itself doesn't scale, but the annotative symbol inside the non-annotative block does. This works fine except for one caveat: I can't edit attributes that are in blocks inside of blocks. If I made another block to use in the MVB for the attributes, it would work, so long as I don't make it annotative, which isn't what I want.
So, A) is there a better work-around than the block-in-a-block-in-a-multi-view-block method, or B) Is there a way to access and edit attribute data of sub-blocks inside a MVB?
Maybe my next thread will be about red-headed Multi-View Blocks with carpets that match the drapes.

I've been using Autocad as a student since the 2007 version and haven't had this problem (in any case, I've been able to solve it before).
Now, I have run into the problem of the lineweights not plotting - they are all the same thickness.
I'm using ctb plot styles and I have the lineweights set up in layer properties...
And have lineweights enabled in plot...
And in the plotstyles editor...
And the colour tables as well...
In the end... all the lineweights are the same.
