AutoCAD Architecture :: Will Wall Cleanup Error Affect Conflict Resolution?
Feb 3, 2012
I am using AutoCAD Architecture 2011.
I have a complicated interior area where my walls can't clean up properly even though they are located in the right place. The wall is located at the center point of two columns which are all drawn as metal stud walls and gyp board with correct material cleanup priorities. I have a curtain wall anchored to the stud wall with sill height of 1'-4" and head height of 10'-8". I want to see the wall show up below and above the curtain wall which it does in axonometric view, but in plan, the cleanup error hides the wall completely. The fact that the wall below the curtain wall doesn't show up in plan is not the main issue, I just want to know if this wall will be able to take part in the conflict resolution I will be running later in the model or will it not because it has a cleanup error?

When building wall styles and configuring cleanup priorities for components, what is the methodology? Do I sketch out a bunch of scenarios of various wall styles meeting each other at Ls and Ts and crosses and whatever, and then try to puzzle it all out: "if I set the outer airspace to 400, then when it gets to this T, the airspace will cut through the rigid insulation with its 600 priority, but will get cut through by the sheetrock with its 200 priority....". That seems like a recipe for headaches. So instead, do I just start from one side of a wall (the wall with the greatest number of components, I guess) and assign the lowest priority number (300, say) to the structural component, the highest number (1200, say) to the finish material component, and numbers in between for everything else, and then see how it works, tweaking by trial and error? The table of priority numbers for various materials provided is useful, but I'd like to have a better understanding of how those numbers might have been derived, so I can do a better job of assigning my own numbers to components that don't appear in the list.
Also, if a wall type contains two components of the same material (I'm thinking of the layers of rigid insulation on either side of the concrete in an Insulated Concrete Foundation system), should those two components have the same priority number (probably not), or different ones (seems more likely)?

We just upgraded from ACA 2011 to ACA2012 and we are getting some wall cleanup issues with foundations. some walls, the footings show while adjacent wall (same style) footing disappears.
also, when i copy a wall where the footing is missing, the new copied wall shows the footing. when i move a wall without a footing, the footing shows up.

I can edit the cleanup in place just fine and in plan all is good, but in 3D, the height of the modfied region is not the full wall height, just some random height.

I know I can probably overdraft this in 2-D; but is there a way to clean this up?I'd like to stop the inside finish surface of the roof element, inside the building (horizontal pine boards).I tried the similar trick like a wall base extension; didn't seem to work. (?)I'd like to have the rafter to top-plate seat cut out of the rafter also.

I want to run one wall just a few inches past another. If I override the Cleanup Radius at the appropriate ends of the walls, setting the radii to a small number (1/2"), shouldn't that allow one wall to be run a couple inches past the other? The attached image shows the end of Wall 2 pulled as close to Wall 1 as I can get it. Both walls have the Cleanup Radius override at 1/2". If I nudge the end of Wall 2 down any further, it jumps down to form a corner with Wall 1.

The table in the Help that lists suggested cleanup priority values for various wall components does not include sheathing. The table lists 900 as the index for siding, but I assume that's a different number from sheathing. If I have steel studs, then 1/2" sheathing, then 2" rigid insulation, then 3/4" strapping, then wood siding, the priority number for sheathing should be higher than the studs, and lower than the rigid insulation, strapping, and siding, right? 500 for the studs, 600 sheathing, 700 rigid insulation, 800 for strapping (which could also be considered an air gap), 900 for siding?

I have a slab with a edge style for a thicken slab (haunch). I have the materials for both objects identical. When I make a 2d section, the slab on top of the haunch does not clean up with the haunch on the bottom. When I go ACA out of the box slab & slab edge styles, there is a thicken slab (slab with haunch) live section the way it should look. I can't reproduce it even when I bring it in to my drw. from the out-of-box Does it have something to do with 2d section? This might sound simple but I'm just not able to figure it out how to make things cleanup.

I can make a curved wall, now I need to make a "cylinder" wall or a closed curved wall. If a curved wall can be closed I cannot figure it out.

I'm attempting to create a wall style that has 2 components, a framed wall and a brick veneer. What I would like to do is have this wall react a certain way when I insert a window. Basically, I don't want the window to cut into the brick veneer, only the framing.
I have attached my attempt so far, and I have not figured out how to get the window to only cut the framed portion.

When opening one custom Content Center iPart from Inventor I get an Styles Conflict error for some Lights, Materials and Sheet Metal rules.
The Library is created in Inventor 2010 and migrated to 2012. All templates an Design Data are migrated as well. How are these styles are updated in a certain Part?

How do update the styles library to keep from getting the Styles Conflict error box. I have used the Standard.dwg file that loaded with Inventor 2012 but everytime I change styles and save the changes in a new template in reverts back to the library definitions.
I used to be able to select 'NO' in the LIbrary option of the Projects Folder but that optiion no longer exists.

I used to be able to snap to the end of the linework that form the visual end or intersection of walls while grip dragging a wall of one style to another. For example, using a wallstyle as a countertop, I'd be able to drag it to the corner of a room and use object snap to the intersection. In ACA 2012, the object snap defaults to the justification plane of the wall even if that's not where the intersection snap is desired.

I quite often like to use the wall grips to adjust the length of a wall. This works really well accept for the occasional situation were I want to snap to the face of another wall rather than the justification line. I know that I can snap to the face of a wall rather than the justification line because I have some files that it works fine in and other files that it does not work in.

I did a drawing in ACA2011 sent it to my remote office where I have ACLT for mac 2013 (trial). Worked on the file,
had to explode the couple of walls I was editing, saved as 2011 or 2010 file.
When I open the file in ACA2011 I can not execute the wall tool. This is the message received:
Command: _AecWallAdd Command not allowed because drawing contains objects from a newer version of this application.
The new objects would be lines.

My boss wants me to make the most outside line of a walltype to be the heaviest pen. If I go to the properties of the wall and changethe boundary it changes the boundary of the item in the wall, each boundary independentfrom the other. Such as a wall made of the following: BRICK, AIR SPACE, SHEATHING,STUD AND GYPSUM BOARD. In this wall theexterior face of the brick and gypsum board need to be heavy.

have trouble moving doors or windows within a wall?
I am trying to move a door so that the door is flush with a face of wall. The prompts in acad do not match the instructions.
For instance; select door, okay. then from anchor panel select 'reposition within wall', okay a red line appears and prompt to 'select position on the opening'. okay so i click the face or side of door jamb then select a reference point. (guide says select point to measure to) and on and on. Door never moves.
it should be; select door, select reposition in wall, select reference point (interior, exterior, midpoint), select the desired location. Done.
Instead it is select this that and the other , measure from here, select, click.click click.

In AutoCAD Architecture 2012: when we insert standard windows in the wall, we usually get a wall break. After changing window size to small (2’ high), this wall break disappears in the plan, but still have it on isometric or perspective view.

How to group wall types together when scheduling a drawing?
I have multiple wall types within a drawing but scheduling produces multiple entries per type depending on length, only grouping them together when lengths are identical. All I need is a total length per wall type within the drawing.

I have two created wall styles, one is a stud wall with gyp bd each side, the other is a cmu wall with gyp bd each side. I want to use a solid hatch which I am able to do but the problem is one wall style the stud hatch is HATCH 1 and in the other wall style the CMU hatch is HATCH 2. It seems as though the two wall styles are tied together some how for if I turn on / off a hatch in one of the wall styles it turns on / off the hatch in the other wall style.

I have a curtain wall I need to make, but I need it to be curve on elevation. Its an arch. I can do it on sketchup but I need autocad precision to establish the modules. I have this division settings, horizontal 3.111 vertical 3.559m.
The profile arch has a 40.062m radius. 27.741 arc length. and a total angle of 39.673.
My question is, how can I bend the curtain wall??? I can make a flat curtain wall to follow my referenced base curve, but I need tu curve it in elevation. Here is a demo view from sketchup. What i'm trying to do is the coloured face.
