I am opening a file from 2004 and I am using AutoCAD Arch 2012. When I open the file everything is there, but the doors do not cut through the walls. The doors are still there but are not "anchored". Is there a way to fix this easily? I also lost everything out of my door schedule. I know I will get my schedule back when the doors get anchored back to the wall.
View 1 RepliesOn one of our drawings all of the doors (aparently except for one) detached from their host walls. The doors were still in their places, but un-anchored. We can go through and re-anchor them, but that's a lot of work, especially since they get shifted to the point on the wall you pick to re-anchor them.
1) Is there an easy way to re-anchor them to their original location?
2) What caused this (so that we can avoid this in the future)?
I am using ACA generic walls and doors for quick schematic room layouts.
I use the sheet set manager to make sheet with views.
All 2D linework is visible in the views, but the walls and doors (AEC objects) do not appear!
We have a house plan that has windows and doors of different types anchored to their walls. It seems that whenever someone is working in a file from the network that has the plan xrefed into it and the plan is opened to be modified by another user the windows and doors randomly detach from the walls. We're getting tired of going back in and reanchoring them.
(We're using Autocad Architecture 2009 on Vista)
is there anyway of opening old files from previous edition of autocad on the newer version, have a file from a few years ago and it wont open now on the new one?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a model with 5 reference drawings. Everything has been going fine. I am making modifications in 2d wireframe view Then I change to realistic view and conceptual view and see that half of my windows have disappeared and some doors. I open up the first floor plan and see that most of my windows, doors, and openings are not cutting the walls. It just happened and now I cannot get them to anchor in the wall.I did purge, -purge R, audit, recover and closed and reopened the program. No Change! What could have caused all of these objects to lose their anchor?

No new sketch goes to x-y plane
This may happen after when I open parts from Inventor 2011 (maybe 2010) into 2012, then create a new part. I would expect the 2012 App Options to be the master, so I don't know why a legacy part would be allowed to change those settings.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have drawings that were made in AutoCAD Architecture 2008 that when opened in AutoCAD Architecture 2012, the 0-width walls in the drawing don't show up anymore. The only solution I found was to change the Base Height in the properties of the wall (which I accessed by choosing the zdiagnostics display setting) to 10' instead of the standard 1/2" that we normally use.
I'm guessing it has to do with the wall styles as they were transferred from out 2008 to our 2012 template.
I have an Nvidia Quadro FX1500 graphics card on XP64. Getting the correct video driver for ACA is critical as we all know. I did a search of the Adesk web site and one page told me to use version 259.57, while another page told me to use version 265.70.
The page telling me to use the newer driver was under the certified hardware page, where ACA is not a choice in the product used, only acad.The page telling me to use the older version was under the ACA support page.Then I go to the Nvidia web site and they tell me to use the 191.00 version.I'vehad a look nside the hardware XML installed with 2012 and te supported driver version is 6.14.0012.6570.

I've created a plot style setting Black lwt. Stb ( style 1) in my table setting . I've set my plot style in my layers to this setting. In my plot setup I've selected this setting. Have the transperancy setting checked and all others uncheck so my line weights appear nice and thin but everything plots color in my pdf.
I've matched my " plot style" in my properties after selecting various walls, windows, doors and etc in properties . Yet I still get color. Particulary with all default hatches ( cmu wall ) The only thing I've done that works is Select wall> right click> Edit wall Style and then changed the style over rides. This involved selecting different hatches and etc. This works but seems excessive for something that should be simple. What am I missing here. My standard 2d items and even 3d drawings of something like a hinge.I don't encounter this.
i am trying to open a revit 2012 file in to revit 2013 but it is showing me an error thar says: There is a circular chain of references among the highlighted elements. and then this message: Data in this file is currupt and needs to be manually recoverd. but I can perfectly open the same file in revit 2012..

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn a project I'm working on we have some doors in large accordian room partitions that need to appear in the schedule however they will not be hosted in a wall in our model. The walls are 2d in the CAD background from a consultant. I created a door family that can be placed and scheduled however the "Room #" field does not populate. Is there a way to add that to the family? I believe the issue comes up because the doors are not in a wall that is "Room Bounding" or in a wall at all.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI work with a national company that creates criteria drawings for new projects. They recently changed to the 2012 version but they save it down to 2007. There has not been an issue with opening files with my 2009 version until recently. All of the computers in our office are unable to open these new files, although they claim nothing has changed. My CAD will pop up a fatal error and shut down whenever I attempt to open the new files. I downloaded the 2013 trial version and saved the file down to the older version, but that does not work either. Newer versions do not seem to be affected by the files, just my 2009 version. I tried creating a new file in 2013 and saved down to 2007 format. When I try to open it 2009 there is no issue. besides purchasing a new version of AutoCAD?

However I noticed that these palettes are not 'refreshable' like they used to be. In the Palette Properties it says *This palette is not shared from a catalog*... after doing a search of that message in these forums I found this thread: [URL]....
I followed David's instructions:
1. Created a new Palette Group
2. Created a new palette in that Group
3. i-dropped tools from my custom catalog in the Content Browser onto that new palette.
Still there is no 'refresh' option...???
Converting/viewing higher version drawn .dwg files.? My version is 2011. & i had recd some higher version files that shows a message as:
I cant open or view these dwg files coz they are made from more recent versions. I had checked with autodesk.com for converter but failed?
I am currently using autocad 2002. An engineering firm has sent me a dwg file that was created using a much newer version of autocad. I asked them to save it back to version 2000, so I can open it. Well, I can open the file, but I'm getting this command "ARXERROR: eNotThatKindOfClass.. whenever I do a basic command??
Now I have gotten dwg files from other firms, and they have worked flawlessly. Would it be how this particular firm has saved the file?
I have tried to open a new drawing, and xref this drawing into it, but all the linework does not show up?
have two questions:
1: I currently am using AutoCAD 2011 is there any option to back save drawings to 2008? I do not seem to have this choice.Only 2010 or 2007 or 2004.
2: If I upgrade to 2014 or 2013 will I have the option to back save to 2008?
When I select the doors I want to use for my floor plan I can't see the picture of the door that I selected before and after I place it onto a wall, when you usually can. You can only see it on symmetric view, but not in a floor plan bird view, all you see is a gap in the wall (looks like the wall is split into two separate pieces). This only occurs for the doors, the rest of the design tools, I can see their pictures before and after, on the floor plan. I think maybe changed some settings, I'm not use. Maybe there is a way to set everything to deafult settings?

have trouble moving doors or windows within a wall?
I am trying to move a door so that the door is flush with a face of wall. The prompts in acad do not match the instructions.
For instance; select door, okay. then from anchor panel select 'reposition within wall', okay a red line appears and prompt to 'select position on the opening'. okay so i click the face or side of door jamb then select a reference point. (guide says select point to measure to) and on and on. Door never moves.
it should be; select door, select reposition in wall, select reference point (interior, exterior, midpoint), select the desired location. Done.
Instead it is select this that and the other , measure from here, select, click.click click.
Currently our door schedule populates when the doors are inserted into the drawing. I would like to know if I can set the schedule up so it populates when the door is tagged. Our doors are inserted into a base plan and that base plan is xrefed into various sheets.
The doors are tagged in one of these sheets and not the base plan. It takes too much time to stop and set up the schedule to schedule the doors across the xref for every project we do. I have read several articles but none of them explain how to schedule from the tag that I can see. I thought this was how the schedule was set up in a previous version.
I don't recall changing any features in AutoCAD 2013 that would take away my ability to type in the distance that I would like to place doors or windows along my walls, but now that it has been disabled and I don't have it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have drawings (some with more than one sheet) from inventor 10. Now I like to open it in inventor 2013. The first sheet is showing, but I can't open the other sheets. I can print them, but I can see a listing of it or go to the sheet.
FYI, until December 2012 I worked in Inventor 10, now I have inventor 2013, so everything is new to me.
I use a machine called a shopbot to cut wood projects. Students draw the parts in Inventor, place them into a idw and use the save copy feature to save it as a DXF file. The shopbot uses a progam called partworks v2 and it reads DXF files. This worked great for the past few years until this summer when we installed the 2013 inventor on our computers. I contacted Shopbot and they said other people are having the same problem and the solution for most of them was to save the idw file as an older version. Last year we had AutoDesk 2011 and it worked fine. how I can save a 2013 idw as a 2011 idw?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded to ver 2012 from ver 2000. I have numerous macros that were written for the older version that I need to utilize in ver 2012. I manually recreated them in the new version by typing in the commands from ver 2000. As I expected I am getting errors when I try to run these macros in Ver 2012. The mlayer command, for example, does not work. I am pretty sure I need to use the -layer command and have tried this but I still get errors. While I am relatively proficient in ver 2000 I am having some trouble finding commands in ver 2012 that match the old version. Below is an example of a macro from ver 2000 as well as my attempt to rewrite it in ver 2012.
