View 2 RepliesI need to calculate square footage quickly. I am currently polylining everything. Here is what I need to do quicker:
Calculate square feet of each room with these requirements:
- When meeting a hallway to the outside face of the wall
- when next to an adjoining space, to the midpoint of the wall
- When against an outer wall, going to the face of the wall.
Is there a way to stretch or adjust space dimensions but maintain the square footage? If I want to change the length by 4'6" can the width adjust automatically to maintain the square footage?
View 5 Replies View Relatedhow the area calculation works for finding the square footage of a dwg.
I can easily get a rough estimate of square footage on L X W....but when i use the area measuring tool, i get total inches and a total sq foot estimate of 1.7xxxxx which i don't understand.
I used to be able to obtain the sqare footage of an area with the AREA command. A list would generate about seven or eight lines, listing the square footage, inches, perimeter etc.
Now all i see is one line; the area/perimeter (see attachment). Did i change a setting somewhere to obtain this simplify version of the AREA cmd? Something is not right...
I tried the MASSPROP and MEASURE GEOM, those will not show the square footage. This used to be so easy, what am i missing...
I am trying to find a way to that I can very quickly measure the remaining square footage on a floor plan and/or equipment cabinet on a regular base. I have been working with AutoCAD for over 10 years so I am well aware of the typical command such as Distance, Measure & Area. I am wondering if with the latest AutoCAD 2013 there is a new command to do this faster.

Have a problem with door numbering and xref's.
Drawings are set up with similar insertion points at 0,0,0.
Basement and 1st floor in scope of project. Drawings are xrefed into one another but they are overlay NOT attached.
Smart room spaces, room names, doors and door tags have been inserted into both plans for each room.
In the individual xref drawings, the door tag number coinsides with the room number as it should.
An automated door schedule has been produced and it works well. All room numbers are correct.
When xrefing the 1st floor and basement floor into the same sheet file for a CD document, the door tags on the basement doors, B101.1, B102.1, etc. are taking on the numbers of the first floor area just above it, 137.1, 137.2, etc.. This only occurs in the sheet file not the drawing base files.
When I unload xrefs of both the 1st and Basement drawings in the sheet file....save...close the drawing....reopen....then reload the basement xref only....the tags on the doors in question cannot find the correct number of the room. (message "space not found is displayed")
Then, when I reload the the 1st floor in the same sheet drawing and reload the basement floor again, the door numbers on the basement plan take the 100 series room number from the space above.
The Room name and number tag does not change in the xref, only the door tag.
When I detach both files from the sheet and xref the basement file only....the doors show up correctly. Then when I insert the 1st floor, the door numbers get screwed up again.
This has happened on another project in this office but in that situation 2 different floor plans were NOT inserted into one sheet. In that matter, we had to detach the xref and then load again in order for the door numbers to come out corrent.
After the drawing was saved, closed, and then reopened the door number were again wrong and picking up the door numbers from above or below.
Is this a bug in ACAD 2011? Is there a toggle switch somewhere that will fix the issue?
Using blocks established and populated while in 2008 ACAD. Does this matter?
I move the xref in the sheet file so they don't align. I have move them 500' away from one another. This did not solve my problem.
I have modeled a house with some colums supporting a deck. Ideally I would like my colums to be round with a spiral twist.. But would be happy to know how to change the default square into a round colum.

I used the free select tool to free select an area of an image that is not a square (odd shape), how do I make that selection a perfect square if pasted to new image or new layer??? rectangular would be fine too...

How do you make the edges square by default?
I'm using CS3 with a new computer and a 17in crt monitor. I set the monitor resolution via windows to 1280x1024. Made a 4 in square in Photoshop. It's square. When I change the resolution to anything less than 1280x1024 the square is taller than wide. It still shows 4x4 inches with the rulers.

We are doing something like this, to loop through the database and am able to get all Solid3d type of objects.
What I would like to know, if a given solid3d object is a sphere or otherwise. The code snippet is pasted here for reference:
bool bContainsSphere = false;

I am trying to find the ploylines in my autocad modelspace. It does not matter what layer they are on, I just need to find all of them as to find their coordinates. I can find the coordinates of a recently created polyline with the vba help but now I'm stuck with just finding a polyline in the modelspace.

View 0 Replies View Relatedtrying to find a .net DWG viewer component that actually works. I tried DWG Viewer from SkySoft and cannot get it to register in VS 2010, I downloaded and installed SolidWorks eDrawings viewer and tried to use that. I could not get that to register and place the control on the toolbox. I also tried TrueView and I'm beginning to thing it can't be done. It seems like this should be fairly easy but it's not.
All I want is to be able to display the .dwg drawing on a Windows form. I have a .net WinForms app that I would like to show the drawing to the user. I already have the bitmap preview and would like something larger.

Is there a way to find out if the drawing was in a scale other than 1:1 when it was originally drawn?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to plot a site plan for a large single family home property (2 lots at 200'x329') to an ARCH D (24x36) sheet and have set up the paper space and a title block template to fit this. I set up a new viewport inside the tile block template to take up all the open space inside it.
Our professor provided us the survey from which we're doing our drawings and has asked for us to plot in 1:20 scale(1"=20'), so I have input 1:240 (1" = 240") in the layout scale menu. The site plan to be plotted fits, but much too small to be acceptable. It takes up only maybe a third of the viewport, when it should fill the viewport (the sheet) for the most part.
I have two sections both region-ed. What is the correct way to find the combined inertia. The sections kind of "fit" into each other. So far I have used two different methods and I don't know which is correct.
1. Centre each section individually, find the section properties of each sections and then add them together.
2. Combine the section, centre them together, and then find the inertia of the combined sections.
So which one is correct? The first one gives a much smaller I value then the second ones.
I am currently working in Autodesktop 2006 at the moment and have somehow misplaced my Express Tools "Layers" toolbar. I don't remember touching it, but it's now gone. I've toggled it on and off with no luck.
Edit:
Never mind. I just reset the profile and dealt with it that way.

It seems VS always output a video file with 29.970 fps even if the footage was taken at 24P, 30P. Can video studio output a video that is the same as its capture fps rate?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can see that saving my 50p footage as 25p would be ideal as it would just drop every other frame. However vsx3 doesn't give me the 25p option. mp4 hd 1080x1920p only offers 30p
Is this because I set vs up as PAL region ? If I changed it to ntsc would it then offer me the 25p option?
I'm really trying to find my best "saving " option for my 1920 x 1080p footage. I use 50p so I can get good slow motion but 25p or 30p would be good output if it plays nicely..
I have a DVD of some old 1937 film footage. It was obviously taken as a direct transfer from degraded film stock. I have loaded it into Videostudio from the DVD (which VS has loaded as .mpg files) I have applied some sharpening and visual filters and want to export the footage. Is it best to export to DV and then use that to remake a DVD or burn the DVD direct from VS? I am assuming that trying to reburn the DVD will involve some re-encoding anyway, so either way isn't going to make a difference other than having a DV file to archive.
what I am trying to do with reference to the file conversion aspect and minimising loss of quality.
I want to import footage from a DVD (self burnt). Can I do this directly with Premiere CC or do I need a programm like Handbrake (I'm a Windows user)?
