AutoCAD Architecture :: Compressing PDF Or DWF Files For Bid Sets?

Aug 2, 2012

Im trying to work with the General Contractor distribute bid sets to subcontractors. Im a residential architect. What are other architects doing in regards to this subject and does auto desk offer a product?

Im simply trying to compress pdf files of all my architectural/structural files and send to the builder so he can distribute. I cant seem to simply compress pdf files and attach to an email. Sending DWF files to the reproduction company seems to work ok without zipping but requires two emails.  Have tried to download Winzip but not happy with them yet.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Schedule Tag With Multiple Property Sets

Mar 16, 2012

I've got a multi-family building where I'm trying to create a schedule tag that will number walls sequentially in a view drawing. The units are elements that are then brought into a construct and mirrored and rotated as needed.

The first thing I did was to create a Property Set  that uses Level and Manual property set that automatically increments to create a property called Unit Number. Then created a tag that will number the units in my building i.e. : 201 202 etc.  This works fine.

I then created a Property Set to apply to the walls that uses the Unit Number from the other Property Set along with a Manual Property Set that increments as well to create a wall tag.  What I am expecting to get is 201-01, 201-02 etc.  What I’m getting is ?-01, ?-02 etc.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Multiple Sheet Sets Sharing Same Layouts?

Jan 21, 2013

I am in the process of generating a separate package which is a suppliment to the main package for a project. The sheets from the suppliment will be incorporated into the main project, but many sheets from the main project will not be included in the suppliment.

My thought was to make a separate sheet set that shares layouts with the main set which I was able to do by making a copy and renaming the .DST file. Now I see that supposedly a single layout cannot exist in two sheet sets. I ended up working around this by creating a sheet in SSM with the same # and Name in each Sheet Set and was able to get them to appear in both. Want to find out if I'm creating a landmine of a problem down the road or if there is a better way to do what I'm doing. In the past, I beleive we simply selectively printed only the appropriate sheets but on that project it was cumbersome and at the scale of this project it will be worse.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Property Data Sets In Wrong Units

Sep 2, 2013

I am using Autocad Architecture 2013 and I am having an issue with Property Set Data. Whenever I create door or window tags, the Property Set Data is in the wrong units.

I have two separate projects, on in Imperial units and another in Metric. When I add a new door/window tag, the units for that particular door or window are incorrect. The drawings are setup in the proper units, the dimensions are as well. But when I create these tags and subsequently the schedules for them, they are in the wrong units. The tags/schedules for the metric project are in feet and inches and the tags/schedules for the imperial project are in millimeters.

Photoshop :: Compressing Multiple Files (.jpg) Into Suitable Size/format For Thumbnails?

Sep 10, 2007

I have 200 thumbnails i saved as .jpg and they are all 4kb each in size. They are tiny though (only 100x100 pixels)

Do you think I am able to bring down the file size with another file format? Or compressing it some way?

If so, any advice would be great... I'd like to make it as fast to load as possible.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Editing Property Sets From External Objects - Removal Of File Lock

Sep 4, 2012

I've got a problem following playing around (Typical, isn't it?). Architecture 2011 allows editing property sets from external objects through the host drawing (i.e. change a room number of a property set attached to a space xref'ed in from another construct). This obviously has to put an editing lock onto the xref to prevent data loss in case somebody else works on the xref in the meantime. This editing lock is removed when I close my host drawing. However, the lock is immediately restored when I re-open the host drawing.

How can I release the xref file lock again after editing the property sets in my host drawing?

Photoshop :: Compressing .gif's Too Much

Dec 23, 2004

Whenever I create or open an image in PS it looks great. It's clear and great quality. If I save it as a .jpg, it still looks great. But when I save it as a .gif the image loses a lot of quailty. I have my Indexed Color set to the following:

Palette : Local(Selective)

Colors : 265

Forced : Black and White

Dither : Diffusion

Amount : 75%

Usually I have the palette set on exact so the .gif looks identical to the .psd But in some cases it won't let me save it as exact but in some cases it will.

VideoStudio :: Compressing Above 20k Bit Video?

Feb 19, 2013

When I record in 720p @ 30 FPS my raw files are usually around 30-35kbit rate, however whenever I compress the videos they seem to drop to around 18k bitrate which really put my videos below the standard I want. I've tried to add my own compression templates but whatever I do, I can't seem to get any of the compression options above 20.000 bitrate.

I have tested with Sony Vegas and with that I can pretty much choose myself what bitrate I want it to be. Although I know Corel a lot better and its easier for me to do what I want with it.

- How can I compress my files with higher bitrate? I want it around 30.000k.

Photoshop :: Compressing TIFF Image

Feb 22, 2012

I have CS4 on Mac, and CS5 on PC I searched but there are soooo many results and I tried several of the suggestions I found for compressing, none worked.

Here's my challenge. I've got this image, as you can see it is solid white, and solid black only. This is going in some kind of program that needs it to be 200 PPI AND only12Kb or less AND if has to be a tif.

My dad works there and he sent me a file that is 10.8 Kb, PPI, and is 7.9" x 3.5", and it was (Bitmap)

So I changed the information and when I save it, the smallest I can get it to be is ~20Kb.

What I've tried so far:

Save for web as PNG with 2 colors, reopen it, and save that as .tif.
Change it to Grayscale, then save it with JPEG
Bitmap and Compressed with LZW
Bitmap and Compressed with ZIP
Bitmap and Compressed with NONE
I even tried saving it as  .25"x.125" but the file size stayed about the same.

Should I be using another program or is there a way to do this in Photoshop?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 :: Compressing Images

Apr 28, 2011

I'm having a hard time finding the right compression ratio for online images.  My graphics always end up too large without the quality to match.  I haven't had luck exporting from Corel Draw to a JPEG, so I usually save my CDR file, open it in Corel Photo- Paint, and save as a .jpg from there.  I always play with the Compression and Smoothing values in the Export JPEG screen, but I think I'm missing something.

We hired someone to put together a Flash graphic recently.  It was essential an exisiting graphic with sliding text boxes.  My JPEG graphic that he worked from was 113K and his final Flash graphic is only 36K, and it's far more sharp and crisp.

Photoshop :: 8x8 Blocking Artifact After Compressing Gaussian Blurred Images?

Oct 31, 2012

I've been experimenting with using Gaussian Blur on uncompressed TIFF images. The TIFF images consist of scans of printed images with a screen ruling.

I've been noticing an 8x8 blocking artifact when compressing the blurred images to JPEG's. (The reason for not using the scanner's Descreen feature is so that I can selectively blur.)

Here, a JPEG without prior blurring appears on top, and a JPEG with prior blurring appears on the bottom:

Would blurring the JPEG, instead of blurring the TIFF beforehand, be preferable?

AutoCAD Architecture :: Moved Cui Files

Nov 9, 2013

I loaded ACA 2014, then customized it with my old .cuix files so all would be 'normal' for me. When I open ACA now I get the following message:

"An executable file was found outside of the specified trusted locations.  What do you want to do?"

followed by the choice of 'load' or 'don't load' in a dialogue. (does this for every .mnl file)

My question is, "Can you set something somewhere to tell ACA to load these each time without the dialogue?" This happens every time I open the program. You'd think after I've got it all set and saved my profile and set my workspace, etc. that ACA would figure it out that I 'trust' these executable files.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Sending Files To Clients

how to purge PDF files from your Drawing? I tried using the Image command, but it doesn't list PDF underlay's anymore. I've tried just using the purge command but it doesn't show up there either. The way I know it's there after I delete it is, (1) The drawing file is STILL really slow and (2) it shows up as a required file when I do an etransmit. Which also makes the etransmit file huge as well.

how to purge them without wblocking the file to itself?

AutoCAD Architecture :: Display Configuration In View Files

May 18, 2012

I have a project of a residential building, made in ADT2011. The building has 17 levels. Levels from 2nd to 17th are identical. They created as an element linked to constructs. The other levels created as constructs.

I also have different view files for elevations, sections and perspectives.

The problem is that I can not control display configuration of objects in view files. The thing that I need is to turn off balconies' glasses in curtain walls of the elevation view files (To see what is behind the glass in 2d elevations). Now to achieve it, I have to turn off glasses in the original element file. But in that case the glass disappears also in plans, sections and perspective views, where I need it.

The question is: Can I control the visibility of the default infills for curtain walls independently for different view files?
