AutoCAD Architecture :: Purge PDF Files From Drawing?
Jun 14, 2011
how to purge PDF files from your Drawing? I tried using the Image command, but it doesn't list PDF underlay's anymore. I've tried just using the purge command but it doesn't show up there either. The way I know it's there after I delete it is, (1) The drawing file is STILL really slow and (2) it shows up as a required file when I do an etransmit. Which also makes the etransmit file huge as well.
how to purge them without wblocking the file to itself?
How do I purge or delete the printers/plotters from the list in the plot set up dialog. I have several that go to the same machine but are not config'd correctly or just simply not used. Can I get rid of them so I don't have to sort through when plotting?
Also, what about the list of sheet set ups in the plot dialog?
I am trying to purge a layer on a drawing that the company is going to use as a template, but even that the layer is not the current one and without objects I cannot purge-delete the layer.
I'm having a small problem with linetypes that are not being used nor will they purge from a drawing. I believe that all started with the binding of an xref but now the xref has been removed along with just about everything else other than simple geometry and some text. The linetypes will not purge. For instance, if I take a standard "new" dwt file that has no problems and copy anything from an "infected" drawing to the dwt, the infectious linetypes will now appear in the dwt. And when I say anything, I mean anything. i can draw a new circle/line/point on the "0" layer and copy that new item into the clean dwt and it will take along with it the unwanted linetypes.
I have seen a similar post about linetypes not purging. And have tried the wblock solution with now luck. I have tried recover along with anything else that I could think of. Again the drawing doesn't have any xrefs and even newly drawn items, when copied, will become infected by the unwanted line types.
Also, the linetypes that are being left behind do have the "$0$" within the name. But also to mention the only ones being left behind are "powerline" and "phantom",
I have a simple excel spreadsheet that calculates our lighting loads and I want to insert it into my CAD drawing. I've tried data linking, paste special, etc. but nothing seems to work.
- I want the file to update in CAD when we change the excel file (or prompt to) - I want the inserted excel file to take on the formatting of my table style (text style, size, etc. ) - I don't want the table to be editable in CAD.
I can not run purge or recover on the attached drawing file or it will crash autocad. When I run audit it says no errors are found. I don't have access to older versions of ACAD to test this on and the file is dated back in 2008 but not sure which version of ACAD it was created in.
This is the only copy of the file. I've opened it and added some linework and saved it as a newer drawing only to have the same results. The attached file is the unaltered version. I have one other file that I'm having the same issue with as well.
I have not used AC for 3d drawings in years. But I do a lot of 2d in AC2012. Yesterday, I was killing time and took a look at some of the 3d capabilities while in an existing drawing. I inserted a few 3d objects, but I eventually deleted them. Now I notice that the UCS icon has become the 3d UCS, and my snaps no longer function as expected. Is there some way to purge the 3d info and return the drawing to it's original 2d functions?
When I purge a drawing, the text styles are not a selectable option (as if there are no purgeable text styles). if i use (-purge), it will purge the unused text styles. I can also go into the Styles dialog box and delete the styles. It happens in all drawings and nobody else in the dept has the problem. I can't find any settings that would exclude any items from the purge dialog box as well. Autocad 2012? windows 7 64 bit.
I have multiple drawings that were burned to a cd and sent to a client. The client used the reference mananger and found multiple fonts/shapes/plotstyles missing. (not found) I have found most and updated the path. There are some that i was not able to find, and because of the size of this project, unable to determine where the original fonts/shape files came from. There was originally 5 firms involved with numerous cad drawings. The missing fonts and shapes are not used in the drawings and i would like to detach them from there drawings so when the client runs the reference manager they will not be looked for, thus not come back as "not found."
When i attempt to use the purge command to do this, the fonts/shapes do not appear and can't be purged. Can i manually open a drawing and detach the fonts and shapes? I need to present a cd that when the drawings are scanned by the reference manager, all fonts/xrefs/shapes ect. are found. For the shapes/fonts i could find, i created a seprate folder on the cd and edited the path to look there, solving the problem. But i have no solution thus far for the not found shapes/fonts/shx files and no original owners i can turn to to get them.
I have a question. I have several 3d models i've set up with 3d blocks in each one. They're separate to cut down on drawing size. I want to create a database of blocks so to speak by copying all the blocks into one drawing. I tried going through Design Center to copy the blocks in, but it won't let me just copy them. Is there a simple way to do this?
Using ACA 2012, I get a delay when I switch drawings, either using ctrl tab or the mouse. The ACA pauses for a moment. I also get the same issue going from model space tab to a paper space layout tab. Running Windows 7 Pro on a Xi machine Intel i5 2.8 ghz with 4gig of memory and a geforce 9800 GT video card. I didn't have this with ACA 2008 prior to updating.
dynamic block in a drawing - when i make a change in the block editor, it doesn`t apply in the model space although i save all the changes. There is also another dynamic block and this time everything is working properly - all the saved changes appear in the model space. The only difference between the two blocks is that the first one has attributes. I think attributes should not be the reason for not applying changes, but i just don't know.
We have a client that wants to recieve AutoCAD documents for the construction documents that our office has prepared. In the past, on other projects with this client, they have altered our AutoCAD drawing files and reissued them out to bid. This is becoming a legal matter, but I am asking, is there a way that the AutoCAD drawing file can be saved that will 'lock' the file so that it can not be altered?
If I use the CAD 'Plot Stamp' while converting a drawing to a PDF file (DWG to PDF), everything works as it should.
If I try to print it out on paper, it doesn’t work at all, even though it looks ok in the preview (however, if while in the preview, I try to zoom in on the Plot Stamp to see what's actually written, it disappears). Instead of being 'BR vertical' it's 'BR horizontal', It prints mostly out of the printable area and the text is a smaller size than specified.
What's the best way to get a high quality PDF from a DWG?We find the quality from the 'DWG to PDF' printer to be a bit disappointing. If we 'Publish to PDF' from a 'Sheet Set', it's a bit better...
I'm delighted I can now import .PDF images into a drawing. But why doesn't the IMAGEFRAME command eliminate the border frame of the .PDF like it does on a .TIF or .JPG?
Our staff can not get this file open. It says "Drawing file is not valid". It was emailed to them. He tried sending over as a 2000 drawing then tried it as 2007. We have AutoCad 2010 and 13 available to us, but no luck.
"Attached is a 2007 version of the same dwg. We have an Autodesk dwg viewer that we use here when we are sent a dwg and so far I have been able to open every file I have sent you with our viewer, so I am not sure why it is not working on your end. What I did though was opened the drawing in our autodesk viewer and then saved it from that."
ACA 2013: How to get the 'One or more objects in this drawing cannot be saved to the specified format. The operation was not completed and no file was created' why this is coming up?
how do I go about determining the drawing units that are being used in a drawing? I want to be able to determine whether the units are set to feet, inches, millimetres, metres etc but can't fathom how to get this info using lisp.
On a large 2012 drawing, suddenly the entire drawing is half tone and every object is locked. When you try to select an object, the little lock symbol apprears next to the cursor. I must have done something inadvertantly to lock the entire drawing, but I can not find any command or reference to unlock the drawing. This problem is also unique to this drawing.
Is there a way to display and control the visibility of property set data next to a tag or object in model space?
For example, imagine a floor plan such as a large hotel with a lot of doors. It would be nice to be able to look at the plan and see which doors have had their property sets filled out and which ones have not; and, it would be great if the visibility of the property set data could be toggled on and off so as not to clutter up the drawing when not needed.
I'm drawing individual guest rooms for a hotel that I would like to xref into the main floor plans. The walls between the rooms are 8" wide. I would like to only show half the width of those walls (4") so when xrefed againt another guest room in the main floor plan, the total width would be 8". But I would like for the one side of the 4" wall to appear as a centerline on the individual plans, but at the same time, be able to shut the centerlines off on the main floor plans. I'm new to ACA 2012 and perhaps I'm going about this in the wrong way.........?????
I'm not sure what happened but all of a sudden when I try to open an existing drawing it no longer pops up a box to browse, it asks me in my command bar at the bottom to type in the name of the drawing. The same thing happens when I try to "save as" a drawing... How to get this back to normal?
