Is it possible to use voice recognition to add notes / redline Autodesk 360 drawings in the field on a tablet. For example when inspecting a dock being able to use a stylus to add a redline cloud around a specific pile on a plan drawing and then adding comments via voice recognition would be a real time saver.
View 3 Repliesmtext notes in my drawings occasionally reformat when I reopen a file. The notes become a column of single words. I have to go to each note and stretch the box. Doesn't always happen, but when it does every mtext box becomes a column. I'm using LT 2012.

Similar to automatic numbering in mtext, but with a hexagon or circle around each number at the beginning of each line. Right now I just type my paragraph then manually insert a key note with attributes at the appropriate location. Problem is when I add or delete text from the paragraph, the line spacing may change, then I have to manually re-align all the key note blocks.

When trying to open any drawings from our AutoDesk Vault 2013 server, AutoCAD will hard lock/freeze and can only be closed by using Windows Task Manager. When accessing the same files through the Vault first, without opening AutoCAD, they open with no issues.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am creating a drawing template that everyone in my office will use, stored on a shared location. I want the label "Drawn by ...." in the title block to be filled automatically with the drafter's name who created the drawing. It would be easy to just add the field "Author" or "LastSavedBy", but my situation is more complex. Our workstations are identified by a code that consists of first two letters of given and last name, for example John Smith's computer is named JOSM. So if I use "Author" field, then I would get "Drawn By JOSM", but I want to get "Drawn by John Smith".
I would like to some how create a field that contains function:
IF author=JOSM, value=John Smith
IF author=MAST, value=Mary Stuart
Is it possible to create such functionality? I found out something about Expressions and Diesel Expressions, but didn't understand much.
I am having problems with the automatic field updates. I've made a dynamic block with a length parameter "LENGTE (mm)" and a stretch action. In this block I also made a Attribute "LENGTE" the value of this attribute is linked to the length of the parameter with a field. The system variable "FIELDEVAL" is 31, so when I save or plot, or ..., the value of the attribute will be updated to the exact length of the parameter.
Now when I insert the block and stretch the parameter to a desired length and I save the drawing the attribute is updated and it has the same value as the parameter. But when I close the drawing and I open it again AutoCAD changes this value to ###. I tried the command "UPDATEFIELD" but the value doesn't come back. I have made a command string "c^c^_fieldeval;0;0;save;close" so that when i close the drawing AutoCAD sets the system variable FIELDEVAL to 0 then saves it and closes the drawing, so when I open the drawing again AutoCAD doesn't update the fields. That solved the problem. When I open the drawing again, I made a command to put the fieldeval back to the default value "31", so when I change the length parameter the attribute "LENGTE" will be updated again after a save or a plot. But then it goes wrong and AutoCAD changes the value back in ###. What is the reason that AutoCAD can't update that field, it works fine when the drawing stays open but when the drawing has been closed and I open it again it doesn't work anymore?
I use multiple layouts to produce build drawings and I use the name of the layout tab to identify the sheet on the shop floor.
I currently use a field in the titleblock that calls the system variable ctab, the problem is that whenever you update the fields, they all change to the name of the current tab, not the name of their own tab (by default, when you open the drawing, they all say Model).
I resort to building all of the layouts and converting that field to text prior to printing.
I enter data into an Excel job setup worksheet. I then want to be able to extract data from given cells in the Excel worksheet, and have this become fields in AutoCAD. I do not want to use a table in AutoCAD - I want (ideally) to have the Excel data come in to AutoCAD as a field. I can see that Data Links tends to come in only to a table in AutoCAD.

We did alot of research on google but can't really find an solutions , autocad 2012 had no problems with saving files.
Also tried different drawing but even if i start an new drawing and will save it , mostly autocad crashing.
I just installed Acad v. 2014. I opened up an existing file, went to select a line, but noticed that the line does not highlight when I hover over it like my last version. How do I change the settings so that when I hover over an object, whether it be a line or a cross hatched area, it will highlight that object so I know the length or area of the object?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed Autocad 2014 and am experiencing very slow and jumpy files when using x-refs. The other machines in the office where I work are not experiencing the same problem and apparently my machine is more powerful.
Originally we thought this might be a network issue (as x-refs are being referenced through the network) but when I put the actual reference files on my computer, I experienced the same issue.
We sold a customer a new Dell Precision Laptop - i7 16GB Memory, 512GB Solid State hard drive, Windows 7 64bit. He had upgraded to AutoCad 2013 from 2006. Since installing the laptop when he closes out of a drawing Autocad crashes, windows reports that the program had unexpectedly quit. It doesn't do it all of the time, but it could have something to do with multiple drawings, plotting etc, but it's not an easy one to generate. He does have an older plotter - DesignJet 500 that's installed through a network share off of another computer however I did completely remove the printer / driver and the issue was still occuring.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are copying our original files to a sub folder to make revisions that have only happened after bidding. We want to keep our original bid documents intact. I have created a sub folder called 'Confirmed Documents' and added Constructs, Sheets, Elements, etc.
I copied the files over and used the Reference Manager to repath the files. However, all of my schedules and room tags now use the 'NA' prefix because it is not reading the project information. How can i reconnect this folder to the project folder?
I've started having a problem with the Publish command when publishing multiple drawings to PDF.
When I plot a drawing using the plot command, I don't have a problem.
When I publish one drawing using the Publish command it is also fine.
It is only when I try to publish multiple files that the problem occurs- the PDFs are produced, but the it is as if the drawing contents (paper space) has been shifted up by 10mm or so, cutting off the top of the drawing, and creating a larger margin at the bottom of the drawing. I use exactly the same page setup as for the single drawing plot.
There seems to be no setting that would change this, and the fact that publishing a single drawing works suggests that there is some kind of bug. At the moment i have to plot every drawing individually (or get my colleague to do it- it works fine on his machine, same page setup file!)

Combining multiple drawings in one go, I have 100 drawings (each has its layout) stored in 100 dwg files. I’m wondering if there is a way to combine them in one dwg file in one go assuming that they don’t overlap.
I need then to edit the title block of all of these layout knowing that this title block is an Xref.
When I import a drawing using XREF command from one file to the new file the scaling between model space becomes all messed up. making the adjustments between the two?
