I enter data into an Excel job setup worksheet. I then want to be able to extract data from given cells in the Excel worksheet, and have this become fields in AutoCAD. I do not want to use a table in AutoCAD - I want (ideally) to have the Excel data come in to AutoCAD as a field. I can see that Data Links tends to come in only to a table in AutoCAD.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to insert a table linked to an Excel 2010 file, it works up until row 28, however, as soon as I add a 29th row to the table it no longer inserts the table. When I try and insert it, I press ok and nothing happens. I tried inserting it as a smaller table and changing the data link to a bigger range after it was inserted, it just didn't update to a larger range.
Is there a way of getting this to work without having to insert it as two different tables?
I need to find a way to export my BOM data to an Excel spreadhseet. Some of my BOM's are in tables, most are not. I found a lisp routine that will export this data to a csv file, but it's clunky at best. I don't want to use the "ole" method, I don't feel like fighting that battle.
So outside of plotting to a "png", and pasting that into Excel, are there any other options that are feasible?

I have made a data link to an excel file. Then I bring it in as a table. I then adjust the text height and remove all formatting from the table. Unfortunately, after closing and re-opening the file, the table changes. I lose formating/cell alignment/text height. It isn't even consistent across the table. The lost formatting is only on the 2nd split of the table, the first side retains the corrected formatting. I have selected the option to not update excel formatting. I don't even get a notification the table is updating. There haven't been any changes to the excel sheet either....

I've changed the cell format in the excel file to unlocked. I have unlocked the cells in the linked table. Yet it still says that some cells are locked...I have even picked in each cell to verify each one is unlocked.

when you right click on your parcel and do parcel properties you get a tab that lets you input the custom parcel data.
lets say you print an fdo map label showing, say, the id_no, provided in the shape file. Then in your custom parcel properties for id_no you type that in.
is there a way to make an expression to put in the other custom parcel properties that will read, say, the permit_no(id_no) from the fdo like and put that information in the custom parcel property field?
I have a program that I used years ago to extract attributes from AutoCAD into excel. The VBA program is in excel. It is Attribute extraction Utility for AutoCAD Release 14. I want to use it again for 2014 but when I run it I get a compile error can't find project or library and it highlights the the following code "set doc = ACAD.ActiveDocument". What I would like to know is if there is a way to edit an individual intersect point after the 3D line has been created? I've tried myself but can only movethe complete line, (all coordinates).
I would also like to know if it is possible to extract all XYZ intersect points back to excel or a table within Inventor so I could use the data with a CNC bending machine? Even displaying all coodrinates on the screen at once would be useful.
A working example would be as follows..., I will upload the customers XYZ data to create a 3D line, modifiy specific intersect points to simplify manufacturing and then extract the new co-ordinates to be used for prototyping purposes.
I would like to link a series of text lines in an autocad drawing to there corresponding fields in an excel sheet, I can not use tables in autocad because of the way other software uses the text in autocad. I have attached files of the text layout in acad and of the sheet in excel. One thing that keeps me from using tables in acad is that every line of text is on a different layer, with tables you can't control the layer of table its always on the current layer.

When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.
I'm dimensioning an old drawing with the real (measured) dimensions and with the drawing dimensions in brackets (using ' 1500 (<>)' to give '1500 (1505)' for example.
What I'd like is to also be able to put on the difference between the length I type in and the length in brackets - as this would let me see any really glaring errors that can't be attributed to user-error on the laser measure.So I could type in '1500 (<>) (X)' where X is the formula, and get ' 1500 (1505) (5)' back?
How to be able to run a script that could highlight any dimensions where the number is brackets and the typed number have a a difference of, say, 50.Or failing that, any way to extract all the dimension text at the end into excel so I can see the differences myself?

I work in a manufacturing facility and we are trying to come up with a way to extract data from an AutoCAD file in to a .KML or .CSV file which gives coordinate points, etc.
This will be used in a mapping-type software to display/highlight areas of the plant with zooming capabilities and information shown on the left-side. We are trying to make it look something like Google Maps, so it can used to determine areas of the plant undergoing work, lighting zones, etc.
In a nutshell, I want to be able to extract coordinate data from our layout(s) which can used to pinpoint locations on the map and highlight regions, etc. Perhaps it could export data in to Excel with attributes assigned to the coordinates which give Area, Bay Location, etc. The initial thought was to somehow export this to a .KML file and use that as a starting point.
is there any way to use data extraction and get the dimensions of the solid. Using dynamic blocks on 3d solid is not an option as far as i know. I tried using block with attributes and field which refer to a dimension line but it's too complicated and takes far more time than just check them by hand.

I would like to extract data I can see in a viewport then add it to the data it finds in the paperspace of the sheet. I don't want the entire drawing (modelspace) just what is seen in the viewport. What I have seen is CL, EP, BC, then "let them just use a template" and several variations thereof.
I have never seen a good way to automatically offset from say BC only and handle depressed curb by field coding.
I have been through all of the system variable field sources but cannot find one that stores the scale of a viewport. I want to add a field to my drawings that prints the viewport scale and updates it automatically if and when I change the scale.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to write a lisp file that extracts the LAYER, Z, X, Y, TEXT HEIGHT, POINT NUMBER, from the attached DXF file. Ultimately I will have the lisp insert a "POINT" at the X,Y,Z, cords, and then a "TEXT" entity at the same coordinates with the text height value and the point number string. Both entities need to be on the layer ending in "-PN". The layer name will change depending on the date. I have a third party program that creates the DXF file.
The point of the lisp file is to insert the point numbers and points into my drawing at their correct locations. For the life of me I can not make this work. I have attached the little bit of lisp I have, which unfortunately does not work properly because of it searching for the "TEXT" entry in the DXF file of which there are three per point number. I only need one. I have also attached the DXF file I have. maybe just an overall procedure that I can then code myself? I'm just not good at getting lisp to read a file and extract what I want from it.
Is there a method of extracting XYZ data to use for CNC tube bending from components developed in frame generator ? I know that in routed systems you can export that data, but can the same thing be done with frame generator or any individual bent tube or pipe part?

For example, if we need to specify “location” of the project, then it is better to have sort of list from which we can select the location of the project the same we do it in the Excel (as shown in the screenshot below).
Is there such feature in the AutoCAD? To choose the information from a list?
