I am currently creating a 3D model of a building of a complicated geometry. I managed to do this in AutoCAD 2013 but when I exported the iges file and imported it to AutoCAD Inventor Fusion, I get a lot of skewness. This is particularly so for the cylinders I extruded in AutoCAD 2013.I have been looking at this problem for almost a week already. I have attached the photo of the skewness shown in AutoCAD Inventor Fusion.
my 3D geometry going missing after I have saved the drawing. Running AutoCAD 2013, Saving file Format 2010. I draw a room. I have walls, chairs, desks, a floor, etc. I save the drawing. When going to re-open the file I can see all of my geometry in the file preview, but when opening the DWG the floor is missing. All Layers are on and thawed. When running a purge command it indicates that something is on the layer, but I can't see it or select it. Changing visual styles also has no effect. I have used CAD in 3D since CAD 200.
I have a 3D geometry that i wanted to export as a .STL file. But every time i selected the geometry to export, i keep getting the option "Select solids or watertight meshes: Specify opposite corner:." Although the command line does show that the objects have been selected. I've tried different ways of selecting the geometry but every time it shows the same thing.
P.S - i was able to export it in other (.IGES, .IGS formats) but it doesn't seem to be working the same way with .STL
If its possible to have a viewport stay locked on a geometry in model space?
For example- we layout our page geometries in model space and outline them in a VP in paperspace. however say we move the entire drawing in model space- we have to go back and redo every viewport on every page. is there a way to prevent this or stop this from happening?
I'm having a recurring issue with using hide situation. Steps are detailed below and an example file is attached.
Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit SP1
Sketched all the geometry.Used hide situation to hide the portion of the fittings that reside within the clamps.Copied the clamps and fitting ends to each end of an elbow.Had an issue with item selection and used the audit command on the drawing. Following this the audit says there is a problem with the program and I should restart.
Restarted the program and any line that was effected by the hide situation is now missing.Attempted to open the backup file and the hide situation lines are also missing.
This has happened multiple times with different drawings, but the effect is always the same, all the hide situation data is now missing and I've lost a significant amount of work. The AM_3 layer created by hide situation is still there, but has no geometry.
i would like to use 3d dwg files from the 50 wood joint library for cnc processing. Therefore i load a dwg file (like attached) into account and want to start editing the wireframe, but thats not possible. Furthermore I expected to be capable of producing a solid for further processing in a CAM software.
How can I edit and make the attached geometry a solid?
projected geometry not updating between sketches in inventor 2013. I hope this will be fixed in 2013 sp1. I have noticed it happening alot when I project a line of another sketch that makes a single point in my new sketch. once the original skecth is changed the second one doesnt update sometimes. It doesnt do this 100 percent of the time just when I need to get stuff done.

Say I click on a line, and then go to the properties inspector to adjust its length. When I scroll down to "geometry" the options are greyed out and I can't adjust them. (see attached image)
It was working fine, and then the other day they were randomly greyed out, and I cant figure out how to get it back to normal. I don't know if I accidentally changed some setting or what, but it's like this on every object I click.
I have a curved solid with a pattern subtracted from it in a model representing a sheet of mdf . is there a way to flatten the surface of the solid to get the geomerty of the cuts. I supose is same as matrial map.
i need to export Geometry Data (in properties) X,Y,Z coordinates/points from a Sold 3D object into Excel (csv.file) I have tried data extraction (EATTEXT) but it doesn’t pick the points up unless I add points manually.
I've got a strange problem with my ViewCube. My screen is showing the world ordinate system as it should in the standard plan view ( X horizontal,Y vertical); however, my ViewCube is skewed to the right about 30° (top view and rotated about 30° right). It is set to orient to the current UCS and the current UCS Is World. If I use the ViewCube to change the setting and orient it as top view orthogonal (north straight up) my view (UCS World) gets twisted left by about (not exactly) 30°.Am I missing something or is this abnormal ViewCube behavior?

I'm Alex and I am new to Inventor. We just switched to Invetor From CAD and have been learning as i go mostly. I have been experiencing problems that are leading to major setbacks due to requireing me to redraw multiple items. With my job we have to use wide flange beams and square columns etc..I'm able to draw the indidviual parts and at times have no problem with anything being offset, crooked, skewed or anything. But I find that I'm doing something in the assembly process that is causiing my parts to become skewed/distorted in the assembly and thus also on my view layouts for prints.
I'm trying to figure out how to make a skewed corridor region for a bridge project (just one assembly I need to skew) the rest of the corridor is split into regions, the approach slabs and bridge deck assemblies are at about a 30 degree angle to the alignment.
I downloaded a .step file from a construction website URL..... It is of a screw. Anyway I want to edit the screw but when I open it, it opens as a weird ipt. It's like the part is an assembly but it's not a logo that I worked with before. Anyway I right click on the Base1 file and hit edit form. When I do that Autodesk Inventor Fusion opens. Is there a way I can edit this part in normal Autodesk Inventor or do I have to learn how to use the fusion program?
I'm having some problems with inventor fusion and autocad mep.I have a solid object that i would like to edit in inventor but i get the unknown command error when entering editinfusion
I went through the cuiload and loaded the cuix. file and now the icon editinfusion shows up on the ribbon. After selecting a solid object and clicking on the icon i get the same error message.
So i went to AutoCAD 2013 (not MEP) and did the same thing and it worked.
My question is, can MEP and fusion work with one another or does this strickly have to be AutoCAD and Fusion?
I'm trying to convert a 3D model saved as a .dwg in AutoCAD 2011 to a .stp file using Inventor Fusion Technology Preview. I did it once and it worked perfect. But since, every time I save the .dwg as a .stp in Fusion, it scales the object down to 39% of the original.
I am having a rather complex 3D structure i have buid out of solids in AutoCAD and then colored and finnished in Inventor Fusion. The whole image was made for a journal-cover.
I drew the basic structures in AutoCAD and then transfered to Inventor where there have been added some more smooth edges and a rectangular pattern of 1000 objects.
Now in the end i find out that only one single 3D solid is too big and i want to resize/scale it.
It seems impossible for me to do that in Inventor, so I transfered the whole file back to AutoCAD. Now i have the problem that AutoCAD is recognizing my objects now only as "block references". It is easy to resize the object now, but i do not know how to get the block refences become 3D solids again and transfer them back to inventor.
If i just try to transfer the whole data or save and load Inventor isnt opening anything.
I was trying to show another user the Edit in Fusion feature in Inventor 2012 but she doesn't have that ribbon panel. We went into the Part tab in Application Options and Inventor Fusion was selected to Edit Base Solids. We even unselected it, applied it, closed the options and then selected it again. But still there is no Fusion panel under the Model tab when editing a part. Yes, it's installed on her machine. We checked.
The only difference is that she's also installed the 2013 suite, as well. I have the Fusion panel and have not installed any 2013 apps.

I have recently put Auto Cad 2012 on my laptop, but seems to be very slow. While doing this fusion inventor also downloaded.I was wondering could I remove Inventor as I don't use it, without that effecting my auto cad program? All I do is just basic 2D drawings on autocad and need to speed it up. Could I also remove Autodesk 2012 libary?
When I want to edit a solid part in Inventor 2012, I click the "Edit Form" button which automatically launches Fusion. Units are defaulted to cm every time (I don't understand why it can't autodetect units) and the first thing I do is switch them to inches (english). I edit my part then return to Inventor. The part has been resized (smaller by a factor of 2.54) and moved off my original origin. I cannot figure out how to get around this HUGE problem. This has made Fusion useless to me and has drastically reduced the functionality of my ablility to solid edit.
If Fusion is intigrated into Inventor, why does it behave as a totally different product (reversed scroll wheel direction, different units, no refrencing between Inventor features and Fusion, etc.)? It's as if the Fusion programing team and the Inventor programming team met for just long enough to put the Fusion button in Inventor and nothing more.
How do I save an image so that it is rotated away from straight up and down. I want to put images on a website at about 45 degree angles, but I can't remember (or find) how to do it. I can rotate it image, of course, but whenever I try to save it, it comes back straight up and down.
I have an editable poly that's a 1D circle (not created from circle tool, detached from another), but when I try to apply the shell modifier, it does not extrude "straight" - instead it's skewed.
The affect pivots only are set like this, so it's not going in the direction of the pivot either..
I get the following error when I try to launch Fusion from within Inventor (or on it's own):
The application is unavailable. There was an error while initializing the graphics subsystem. This is likely due to one or more of the following: your graphics driver is not configured for "True Color", there was a problem installing the application, the application installation was damaged, or some other problem with the graphics hardware and drivers or the configuration of the application. More detailed information may be included below.
Also, when I try to switch to Realistic Visual Style, it will not allow me to. When I go into Application Options, Hardware, and try to set it for Quality it always goes back to Compatibility.
I have noticed that in one learning project my Perspective Viewport is completely skewed. Other projects are fine, just this one (so far).
Information:
See image IF01.jpg (below) the ViewCubein the Top Right of the Perspective Viewport is perfectly squared and showing the Left View - yet the Grid and all Objects on and around it are angled incorrectly.
Image IF02.jpg shows the Grid and Objects correctly aligned the way they should be - yet the ViewCube is now all off square!
I'm working in a CMYK workspace on a vector graphic with multiple shapes. The above photo is a portion of the graphic as it appears in Illustrator. There are only three color swatches being used.
When I export the file to a PNG, this is what happens:
The two shapes that make the creases of the hand come out a dull color that looks as though the opacity was lowered. I'm using the exact same color swatch for these two shapes as I am for the other blue areas seen in the photo. I've even tried to retrace the two shapes entirely, but I had the same result. My guess is that it has something to do with the yellow area, but I don't understand why it would be having trouble when the yellow shape in the bottom-left corner functions normally when a blue shape is placed in front of it.
