View 3 RepliesFor example, I'm making revisions to a plan and drag a block or xref of the floor plan changes where walls/doors/windows have moved. I want to be able to simply pick the underlying linework as opposed to tracing over each line of said xref/block.

I was drawing a lot of lines with the pointer that stuck at the end of the line and after that it stuck at the beginning of the other line (i hope you understand what i mean). I don't know what i pressed but now this function is not active and is very difficult to draw the lines.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been searching for a command that could actually cut lines for purpose. For example, if I'm drawing a 2 line crossed, wish I could cut the 2 lines so they are now 4 segments. On a circle, I could actually draw a line that pass trough the circle on cut it off the way I wish. Does such command exists for autoCAD? Very often, I've many lines at the same time that I wish I could cut with a single one. The problem is that I don't wish to trim 'em and extend (losing time and long process). Sure there is also the div cmd, but this isn't what I'm seeking for.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI need to snap to guide lines but the only snap I can get is to the endpoint, which results in some very diagonal lines. I actually have ortho turned on because I need only 90 degree angles. Sometimes I need to move an entire line and I would like it perfectly lined up to the guideline. The line being moved is part of a polyline.
I sometimes do need to start or end at an endpoint but how do I do that then also snap to just anywhere on the guideline while maintinaing a 90 degree angle?
For a current assignment I have created a drawing with several property lots. I am supposed to label the lengths of the lot borders. However, I am having difficulty doing this. I would like text to appear on/above the top line of each block, but I cannot seem to find a way to get the curser to appear on the line. My first question is whether or not this is even possible. How to do this online and come up with nothing. Secondly, if it is possible to add text to a line could this text then be centered?
If this is not at all possible, what is the closest alternative method for inputting text on a line that is centered between the lot corners?
Say you have a square and you want to draw a line from the midpoint of one side to the other, can you set something so that it tells you when you are exactly on the midpoint of a line?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have used AutoCad for a few years and I installed 2013 to my laptop recently.I noticed that I couldn't specify how long a line should be. When I select the line tool and specify the base point and type how long it should be i.e. 3' and a red box appears around the dimension box and the line isn't drawn. I tried not specifying a unit of length and it draws the line just fine. But for some reason it wont complete the line if I specify feet or inches.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to represent some lines, in model space, that alternate in color, yellow/red, that are "scalable" with respect to different scale view ports in paperspace.
my initial idea was to use two lines, each in which the dash and space between were the same distance, then just offset the yellow/red lines enough for each to fill the others gaps. But, wondering if it was possible to represent that in a single linetype?
In previous versions of autocad after I select a line, and put the mouse pointer over a vertex, there would be an on screen number displaying the length of the line. In Autocad 2013 this seems to have disappeared. how to get it back?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI used direct-distance entry to place the dimensions 3/8 away from the object lines... needless to say, while most horizontal dimensions are 3/8 away, the vertical and inclined dimensions are not. see attached. other than creating construction geometry and physically moving the endpoints of the arrows to the correct location, is there any way of getting this precise and correct the first time i do it?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThere is a coworker of mine that seems to have an issue pop up in random files here. He is drawing his siteplan on a file received from a consultant, the issue he's having is that if a line has any sort of elevation to it, he can't extend another line to it. He can flatten the line and then extend to it, but if the same issue is tried on any other machine, the rest of us can extend the line without issue regardless of it having elevation or not. The frustrating part is that he couldn't tell the line had any elevation to it until he took the precision value out to 8 digits. The line he couldn't extend to had an elevation of 0.00000004. But as I said, his machine is the only one that has this issue. We are all running AutoCAD 2013 on Windows 7 64 Bit. Is there a setting or variable somewhere controlling this behavior?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI turned off the command line because I don't use it or need it on my screen. But each time after I do a plot preview the stupid thing automatically turns itself back on.
Is there a way to permanently turn this thing off because apparently hitting the "x" on the toolbar isn't working correctly.
Also, why did they do away with the flyout option on the commandline. At least then I could dock it somewhere and collapse it.
In Regis you copuld use the "clean"command to break each line at an intersection. What command or function must I use in AutoCad 2013? I wish to break the lines at each intersection in order to import the lines into a GIS application. I am currently drawing in 2D.

I can't drag it, select it, or find a way to move it in any way. I tried changing the resolution of my monitor thinking it might "bump" it back on the screen. When trying to draw or stretch a line or grip along an object in 2013 it does not follow the osnap like it does in 2012. For instance if I draw a line and then want to draw another line from the beginning of that line along that line using the nearest osnap and inputting a distance, the line follows the cursor rather than the snap.

I want record a macro to update a title block. We've revised the formatting of our title block. The block name is the same, only some appearances change.
I noticed in the insert command, "You can replace an existing block definition with an external file by entering block name=file name." This would be great. I could just type in the block name and the file name and AutoCAD would replace the current with the new version in the file. Then do an ATTSYNC and we're done.
*EXCEPT*
The path and the block name both have spaces in them. Is there any way to make AutoCAD stop taking the space as a return?
I have a query as to how I could automate the replacing of selected individual lines with predetermined sized rectangular blocks centered on the line at the angle and on the “0” layer . See attached file:
The rectangle need not necessarily be a polyline, 4 single lines would be sufficient. And whether the original line is or is not replaced is unimportant either.
