AutoCAD 2010 :: X And Y UCS Reset
Aug 3, 2012Somehow my X and Y are set to 2412.14 and 4868936255!!!
I have tried to reset these to 0,0 but to no avail.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Cannot Reset FRAME System Variable To 3
Jan 24, 2013According to the documentation the FRAME system variable overrides XCLIPFRAME, IMAGEFRAME, etc., has four valid values, 0, 1, 2, or 3, and its initial default value is 3. While editing a drawing, I set FRAME to 0, and then some time later, tried to set it back to 3. AutoCAD refused to accept this value, saying "Requires an integer between 0 and 2." Typing (SETVAR "FRAME" 3) at the command line also failed. The only way I could get it back to 3 was to use UNDO to go back to the default value. Is this a bug?

Mar 19, 2013In my drawing I have set my UCS to a gridline (I'm drawing up a survey from a construction site), named the ucs 'square' and then set Plan view to Current so that it is nice and square to the screen. I saved the drawing in this plan view.
However, when I reloaded the drawing this morning, my 'square' plan view has become 'World'. Also my 'square' UCS has disappeared from the list of UCS's. I thought this was just a funny bug so I typed 'UCS' followed by 'w' hoping the world UCS would go back to the real one, but nothing happened. As far as I know it is not possible in ACAD to rename, alter or in fact do anything to World UCS (for good reason), but this is what ACAD appears to have done all by itself.
Luckily I have all the site gids saved in their 'world' orientations so I can get round it by a simple bit of copybase/paste/rotate, (but it means my dimension text is all going to be skewiff).
As a caveat I should add that I am a very exprienced ACAD user (7years) and regularly work in 3D in all kinds of views and UCS's and I've never had this happen before.
AutoCAD 2010 :: Way To Get Program To Reset To All Factory Defaults
Aug 21, 2012One of our users has managed to get the workspace kind of messed up. They have some toolbars, but only a fraction of the total, and the ribbon menus are just blanks. The odd thing is that if someone else logs on to that machine and starts AutoCAD everything is fine. We've uninstalled AutoCAD and re-installed it and it has no effect at all. The user's workspace is still all screwed up. Is there some SIMPLE way to get the program to reset to all the factory defaults or something?

Sep 7, 2012I am working on an AutoCad drawing (Vers. 2013) that I got from someone else. I am setting up my drawing and right clicked my sheet tab as usual to go to the page set up manager. I set up my printer, ctb, paper size etc. But when I try to set my plot size to 1:1 it won't retain it and reverts to 1"=1'. It will however let me switch to anything other than to 1;1 (ie 1:10). I checked some existing drawings and the problem doesn't show up. So it's just this particular drawing that's messed up. I checked my drawing units and drawing setup commands and they are the same as I always use.
So the question is why won't let me use a plot size of 1:1?

Nov 28, 2012i'm in action schematic and if i reset any node (for example images/surface) then some parameter is still not affected. For example : the blend type and surface type and couple more are not affected by that reset function. Is this a bug ?

Feb 8, 2012I am new to AutoCAD and am trying to self teach myself using the autocad bible as a reference. I am on chapter 3 and was following the suggestions for moving the ribbon by undocking it. Great, but now I can't get it back to the top where it started. It moves left and right just fine. I tried undo 100, no luck. I tried restarting my computer but it has now transfered to all of my practice drawings as well, all have the ribbon on the side.

Mar 15, 2013About six months ago, when I ctrl/tab between drawings, it started having a five second delay for it to "reset" itself. Irritating as all get out. Nothing had changed on my CPU, just started doing this out of nowhere. My boss, who has exactly the same cpu / software/everything, is not experiencing this. I am using 2012 full version.
Another question, my co-worker had 2012LT on his laptop and when he is measuring a distance and take off either the ortho or snap, the text box on teh screen showing the distance disappears.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Workspace Setting Reset
May 16, 2013I have installed AutoCAD 2013 and Inventor and here is my problem. This versions of AutoCAD crashes a lot, usually related to making pdf's, but that, while problematic in itself, is a secondary issue and not the reason for my email. When it crashes, it rests all my custom work place settings, even after I have saved and locked them. Restarting AutoCAD takes a few minutes, but this is VERY annoying and time consuming to reset everything everytime this crashes. I have never encountered this problem with previous versions of CAD.

Oct 19, 2012We frequently will create a new part and drawing based on an existing drawing to save time recreating views and re-dimensioning the entire drawing. This is done by using Design Assistant to copy the idw and ipt file to a new name.
The only problem we have experienced with this workflow is that the revision history for the old drawing is maintained in the new file, and there doesnt seem to be a way to reset it. This also causes us a problem if a drawing needs to be changed from numeric to letter indication of revision level.
Any way to reset the revision history so that a new table can be started from scratch?

Sep 18, 2012before when reset scale it will have 1:1000, 1:2000, something like that.
now when reset it is same as autocad. which is like 1:1 (should be 1000), 1:2 (should be 2000)
what changed? i know it's just the name but this is bad. shoudln't change something like this all the sudden. hopefully is some variable.

AutoCAD Inventor :: All Application Settings Just Reset To Default?
Jun 4, 2012For whatever reason, everything reset back to default in my application settings. The only thing I remember happening was that at one point my Inventor was not able to establish a connection to the server where the liscence is stored and it gave out an error message. Ever since then, everything was reverted to default.
how to change the look of the highlights in the assembly environment when selecting parts? I can't remember where it's at.

Aug 8, 2013I have a CAD dwg with an embedded OLE object (Microsoft Excel). I am able to edit the text with no problems, but I am not able to resize the viewing window in CAD.
I have reset the 'print view' in Excel several times, hoping that this would render the problem. However, it is still showing 1 row of extra cells that I do not want to see.

Jul 3, 2012My office is launching 2013 and the one issue that is really bothering me is the selection preview variable keeps getting reset <0> and I cannot figure out what is causing it?
I like to have the selection variable set to <3> and my selection cycling set <-2> so I can hold down shift and tap space bar to visually cycle through overlapping objects but this is very difficult to do when the selection preview variable resets to none <0>.
I think the new box popup in this release is very bothersome and would like to figure this glitch out.

Jul 2, 2012I keep hving trouble with a hole and the diameter tolerance.
Create a simple hole, single diameter concentric and specific depth. I go to the tolerance window for the diameter and change it to a Limits-Linear. I enter my values .3758 and .3754. Precision is .1234. I clikc OK, then go back to the tolerance, and its reset both values to .3756 What gives???? I've deleted and recreated the hole, edited it about 10 times, and still the same effect.

Feb 6, 2013I can't reset the quick leader to its default value. I used to have a custom tool bar for that using the following command: (setvar “Dim DRBLK” “.”), and it worked greate. Now this command does not work with C3D 2012.
Now I'm stuck with the dot leader and I want to reset it back. I use dot and arrow head a lot.

Jan 17, 2012The Mtext Editor allows one to change the text highlight color by going through the Text Formatting toolbar, clicking the arrow drop-down menu, and selecting Editor Settings > Text Highlight Color...
This brings up a Select Color dialog box with a single Index Color tab, which lists the default color of 16,62,112 greyed-out in the Color field. In AutoCAD LT 2008, one can select any AutoCAD Color Index (ACI) color from a range of 1-255, including the seven basic color names for colors 1-7. In the full version of AutoCAD 2008 (and possibly other versions of LT?), there are additional tabs for True Color and Color Books, however these tabs are not present in LT. AutoCAD LT limits text highlight colors to ACI colors only, excepting the default color of 16,62,112 as noted above.
My problem stems from changing the text highlight color in a quick experiment: there is no apparent way to restore AutoCAD LT's default text highlight color of 16,62,112, since it is not an ACI color. I can pick a sort-of-close ACI color instead (I'm currently using color 156), but it seems like there should always be a mechanism to restore any variable to its default setting.
