View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to draw a plan of my house in Autocad 2009 but I seem to be endlessly using trim and extend because I can't easily select the points that I want with osnap. Eg. imagine I have a box, and I want to start drawing another box inside it that has each side as 10 units smaller than the corresponding side on the outer box.
Step 1 - I draw a small line from the top left corner of the big box using the endpoint snap, typing in "5" for the length.
Step 2 - I then do the same at right angles to the first line to get me to the starting point of the inner box. This always leaves me with 2 small lines to remember to delete.
Step 3 - Then in order to draw the top line of the inner box I end up drawing to a random length because I can't say "draw until 5 units away from the right hand side of the big box", then I end up trimming it later once I've repeated steps 1,2 and 3 for the next side of the inner box.
I know in my example above I could have scaled the box down or something but that's not what I'm getting at. I really want a way of selecting line start and end points that are a known position away from an existing point.
How to have more than one point style in the same file? I’m wondering if there is a way to have more than one point style in the same file? Is that possible?

I can't control the location of a 3rd circle using ttr. I'm drawing two circles and then a 3rd tangent to both but I want the 3rd circle to be centered down below the two original ones and all it will do is be above them. See drawing.

My objective is to draw a circle with one quadrant at a fixedpoint (say point (1,0) on X-axis), so that, the line becomes a perfect tangentto the circle. View 5 Replies View RelatedBack in LDT you used to be able to mouse over point descriptions of dragged state points to get Osnap to select the node. Civil 3D has apparently done away with this, why who knows but its very very hard to know what point your selecting if say you have a bunch of points on top of eachother. Can this be enabled anywhere?
The very mundain work around is to use 'PO to select the point entity, but it does not show the little osnap indicator on the point marker when you use 'PO.
How can I get my old Osnap node selection back?

Is there a reason why the "node" osnap won't recognoze certain point markers? I have recently begun using named plot styles and I have been revising some of our markers to reflect this. I have noticed that some of the point markers (it seems like markers that use a circle as part of the marker) won't show the node marker no matter how I hover around it. Others seem to be normal.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to find a way how to insert a point or a * on the center point of a hole and put it on a different layer. The reason for this is - I am a CAD tech for a welding shop and we cut parts out of steel and we use the dxf file format for our plasma table to cut parts. For example : if i have a 1 inch thick plate and want to put a 3/4'' hole in the plate the hole will be distorted because the hole is smaller than the material thickness. For these situation we can use the plasma table to burn a point or a dot on the center point of the hole. But to do this the point or dot must be on a different layer in the dxf.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen inserting a DIMRADIUS in older versions of AutoCAD, the extent of the radius dim used to automatically stop at the tangent point along an arc. However, now in ACAD 2013 (and possibly other recent versions), a red 'extension' line is carried on beyond the tangent point, which I don't want. Is there a toggle that switches this off so that the radius dim stops wholly at the tangent point as before?
I've tried using endpoint snap to stop the dim at the tangent point, but the radius dimesion text is then placed on the outside of the curve rather than the inside where I want it.
We've tried every command imaginable. F3 doesn't work. Checked all setting is Drafting Settings, (incl. 3d). Saved, and restarted.
No OSNAPs work in any command.
The icons on my osnap toolbar do not coincide with the commands.

For example, the hatch below consist of lines but the “Osnap” can’t see them! Then when trying to draw a line for the point indicated below to the end of the one of the hatch lines then the snap doesn’t indicate the “Endpoint”

How to set a default point style for point groups? Whenever I import survey points, I always put them into their own point group, so I can display each day's worth of survey data differently. For some reason, the point style always defaults to a certain style (our control point symbol). I'd like it to default to Basic, so I don't have to change this every time. Is it a template drawing setting somewhere?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThats pretty much it. While pressing F3 to toggle Osnap, if Ortho is ON it first turns it off and then F3 would toggle Osnap. The same thing happens with F8 if Osnap is ON.
I checked out the CUI and for some reazon it had a lot of different shortcuts to toggle Osnap and Ortho, so I thought just keeping F3 and F8 would make it work, but it does the same thing.
How does one erase part of a circle from point to point ?

I need a radius for what I'm doing, so I drew a circle with TTR and then tried to trim against the tangent lines to get my arc. However, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. why this doesn't always work?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThere is a font and table style called "Legend" that is automatically generating and can not be purged.
I have looked through all the start up files, all the lisp files and can't find anything that would be creating them!
They appear in any file I open, new or old and even if I open a template file.
I have attached a file that should be empty but you will (or should) see both a font and table style called "Legend".
(FYI I am running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 as AutoCAD 2010)
