View 4 Replies View RelatedI’ve an already drawn inclined line from a fixed point (saypoint (0,2) on Y-axis). The inclination is also fixed (say 150 tothe horizontal). My objective is to draw a circle with one quadrant at a fixedpoint (say point (1,0) on X-axis), so that, the line becomes a perfect tangentto the circle. The diameter of the circle may vary to make the line perfecttangent to the circle.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been practicing using a older book(copyright 1990) and it has some decent exercises in it. I was able to do this one but it seems I can"t find the proper way to do this..First drawing a line a certain distance..ortho on,click the first point anywhere, move curser to the left and click again. that gives me a line at 180 degrees at what ever length..Line command again starting at the second point of the first line..after clicking that point,I type in @2.38<150 that gives me a line2.38 long at 150 degrees..now how do i make a third line relative to the second line so that the angle is 75 degrees and a certain length..the picture shows what I am trying to draw..using the polar cordinates you get an angle based off the UCS( which is set at world) when you try to draw the third line ..that makes the angle between line 2 an 3 not the angle that I want..To make the drawing,I rotated the ucs -30 degrees..But there has to be a better way than that..

I was wondering the best way to draw a circle that passes through an endpoint of a line and then is tangent to another circle above it? I need to create a radius of 3.5 between the two points.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Illustrator and perhaps it's not the best software of CS6 Master for doing this, but:
I have a few (13) circles, they are connected with lines (one line from the centre of a circle to the centre of the next one, so 13 connecting lines). I need to move the circles around in order to create the appearance that suits me best, but I want the connecting ending to move together (see picture below). I need to do this often and get an immediate visual feedback. How do I do it? Am I using the wrong software altogether?
In gimp, some things are confusing. like the shear/skew tool, isometrics/pixel grids, and selecting objects.
Is there a way to skew a circle for isometric pixel art (30 degrees)? Does gimp have a isometric/pixel grid? (there's a regular grid, but its not isometric)
when selecting an object, is there a way to select it without using float every time? Lastly, is there a way to constrain a line to the 3 most used isometric lines used in isometric pixel art? (shift works, but its hit or miss)
Working on Acad2012 3d Civil. I draw a circle of 4000' radius and another one of 2000' radius. I put a tangent line between the two circles and I do see the tangent symbol but when I zoom in real close, it's not. So now I can't trim the excess radius of the two circle. I do have a trim line pasted the two supposedly tangent points. Is this a CAD issue or is their a variable to change that actually makes the lines tangent.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow does one draw a line tanget from the end of an arc.
I noticed the tangent snap stops at the end of the arc but one can still place a line beyond the end of the arc, thus no longer tangent.
tan.jpg
i want to snap this line to where it would be at a tangent to the arc (as right), but as you see (left) when i hover with TAN snap it picks a tangent from the pick point, not from object's orientation.
at the moment i construct a tangent by rotating a copy of my line by 90°, and snapping it to centre of the arc. then extend out past arc, where the intersection is now the point i originally wanted to pick. make sense? gotta be a better way!

When inserting a DIMRADIUS in older versions of AutoCAD, the extent of the radius dim used to automatically stop at the tangent point along an arc. However, now in ACAD 2013 (and possibly other recent versions), a red 'extension' line is carried on beyond the tangent point, which I don't want. Is there a toggle that switches this off so that the radius dim stops wholly at the tangent point as before?
I've tried using endpoint snap to stop the dim at the tangent point, but the radius dimesion text is then placed on the outside of the curve rather than the inside where I want it.
I am trying to create a dimension in an .idw that goes from a line to the tangent of the outer diameter. I have tried several approaches but I cannot get it to work. Essentially I am trying to replicate a drawing which was created in Solidworks but I am having trouble with this dimension.
