AutoCAD Inventor :: Placing Dimension From Line To Tangent Of Diameter?

I am trying to create a dimension in an .idw that goes from a line to the tangent of the outer diameter. I have tried several approaches but I cannot get it to work. Essentially I am trying to replicate a drawing which was created in Solidworks but I am having trouble with this dimension.
see attached jpg. I want to know if there is a way to get rid of the "extension line" that the diameter dimension creates?
as you can see it runs over the slots on my detail and looks confusing.

It's 2012. I haven't found a setting in the dim style or the RMB options to turn off the extension line. I saw the posts showing drawing a sketch in the view but come on, all that to just turn off the line?
I am trying to place a tubes cylindrical surface to another tubes cylindrical surface using add constraint. How do I specify which side of the target surface to apply the constraint ?
When you make a diameter or radius dimension it always has this static extension line shown in red when you move the dimension far enough away. I can not seem to extend this extension line at all it is always the same length no matter what variable I change. How to lengthen this extension line?
I am trying to edit my drawing template dimension style to always do a diameter (if it is a circle). Right now it defaults to radius and I manually right click and change it. I found all sorts of styles for how it displays the radius and diameter, but didn't find where to set the default.
How do I change this dimension into a diameter dimension?
I have tried editing the dimension style to display as a diameter and it doesn't change it. I tried creating a new dimension style and it doesn't change it.
We need re-location the diameter dimension after we change the drawing view's scale. but we didn't know how to change the Startpoint of the dimension (mark with Red word "1"), just find the text location.
Who knows how to set the new point to for the startpoint?
how to break diameter line into horizontal line at the end ?... there's no such option in editor style (I want to have 2 arrows for this diameter, not one as it is in editor options)
Part I :When I place a diameter/radius leader, it is a set length.I can move it all around the circle I'm dimensioning but the length of this leader is set. It is really short and it sucks to have to place the dimension then move it to where I want it as a second step.
Is there a setting that will allow me to drag this dimension where I want and make the leader as long as I desire?
Part II:In Autocad 2009, if you wanted to change a leader location,you could pick the text grip and it would move the end of the leader to that point then place the dimension from that point. Now picking the grip places the text and I have no control over the angle of the leader (our standards require leaders to always be a set angle from the object!)

i have problem with the Application option settings for sketch enviroment: When i draw a line in the sketch, i am not able to do the "click hold for a tangent arc to the representing line" it just starts a new straight line.
I know it has something to do with the settings, but can figure out what the correct settings are...
Why can't Inventor constrain an ellipsoidal contour with a line? We have pressure cylinders which uses a 2:1 ellipse. These cylinder get welded to a base stand fixture. The surface of the ellipse nestles in between contact points of the base stand, in this case lines of geometry. Yet Inventor can't constrain them as such. Any good workflow (at the assembly level) so that we don't have to ground components and use the Analyze Interference tool to make sure we are right on the surfaces? I don't understand why it will work for a cylindrical surface but not an elliptical surface.
I have a detail view of a groove on a cylinder. I want to dimension a diameter in which I only see one side, the other side is not in the detail view.
From some posts I see that I should auto insert a centerline then dimension from centerline then choose options "dimension linear".
First when I try to auto insert centerlines it does not insert the centerline for me. Perhaps because my detail is smaller. If I make the field for the detail view larger it makes a centerline, but I dont want to do that. I have tried making a sketch of the other side and the centerline. When I dimension from here I do not have the right click option of dimension linear, instead only arrowhead options.
When I dimension an arc to find the radius, the dimesnions appears as a line going from teh center of the arc to the edge of the arc with the dimension in the middle. I don't want this. I want a leader pointing to the R text and that's it.
I've attached a photo of both scenarios- one dimension is the style I don't want, and one is basically the style I want (I'd like it to be more of an elbowed leader line), but it only appears when I use AutoCAD's ISO25 dimension style.
We have been having an issue with this for a long time in hopes of it being fixed in any new release. If I click Diameter and pull it to the OD of hte circle it shows as in the picture which is what we want. If I pull it to the ID it pulls straight from that point and the dimension is not level.
The only way we can fix it is click on it, go to properties, scroll down to text, and in the text rotation box, type 90.1 and hit enter.
Working on Acad2012 3d Civil. I draw a circle of 4000' radius and another one of 2000' radius. I put a tangent line between the two circles and I do see the tangent symbol but when I zoom in real close, it's not. So now I can't trim the excess radius of the two circle. I do have a trim line pasted the two supposedly tangent points. Is this a CAD issue or is their a variable to change that actually makes the lines tangent.
i want to snap this line to where it would be at a tangent to the arc (as right), but as you see (left) when i hover with TAN snap it picks a tangent from the pick point, not from object's orientation.
at the moment i construct a tangent by rotating a copy of my line by 90°, and snapping it to centre of the arc. then extend out past arc, where the intersection is now the point i originally wanted to pick. make sense? gotta be a better way!
I’ve an already drawn inclined line from a fixed point (saypoint (0,2) on Y-axis). The inclination is also fixed (say 150 tothe horizontal). My objective is to draw a circle with one quadrant at a fixedpoint (say point (1,0) on X-axis), so that, the line becomes a perfect tangentto the circle. The diameter of the circle may vary to make the line perfecttangent to the circle.
I am attempting to keep the cable line of the crane always tangent to the circle at the top of the crane. The length of the crane (including the circle at the top) is being polar stretched but i am unable to keep the cable tangent to the top circle as i stretch and rotate the crane.
