View 2 Replies View RelatedI’ve an already drawn inclined line from a fixed point (saypoint (0,2) on Y-axis). The inclination is also fixed (say 150 tothe horizontal). My objective is to draw a circle with one quadrant at a fixedpoint (say point (1,0) on X-axis), so that, the line becomes a perfect tangentto the circle. The diameter of the circle may vary to make the line perfecttangent to the circle.

When inserting a DIMRADIUS in older versions of AutoCAD, the extent of the radius dim used to automatically stop at the tangent point along an arc. However, now in ACAD 2013 (and possibly other recent versions), a red 'extension' line is carried on beyond the tangent point, which I don't want. Is there a toggle that switches this off so that the radius dim stops wholly at the tangent point as before?
I've tried using endpoint snap to stop the dim at the tangent point, but the radius dimesion text is then placed on the outside of the curve rather than the inside where I want it.
I would like to know how to make something like what I attach below. Its a circle with radius 112, touching a point on the corner, and the circle must touch some point on the line above precisely.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a line which is at (0,0) and (2,2). I need to draw a perpendicular to this line from point(1,0).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm starting to draw a line and I want it to end above a point so that the next line I draw will be perpendicular to the first line and will end at the point. E.g., in the attached picture, I'm starting to draw the orange line and want it to end above the top-right corner of the rectangle.

How can I do that?.
How shall I draw lines into a created surface using raw or full description of ascii file format(COGO)
for example in the imported file i have points to describe a road center line(CL),or edge of the road(ERD),breaklines(BRKL) and want lines represented by the descriptions to be drawed in the surface so that i can use the lines as guides in profiles design.I didn't want to use point number which are not serially ,and have tried to use point grouping without any success
The attached file could be of good use.
Since switching over to Inventor 2012 I have been having trouble snapping to tangent points on a curve or circle to pull dimensions. I would do it manually but if the dimension is not referencing a specific point in the model it turns pink to identify an error.
Is there a setting that may be not allowing me to snap to tangent points?
I need to draw an arc that starts at a specific point, ends tangent to another line, and has a specified radius. What's the best way to do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to find the tangent intersection point between 2 circles within certain conditions.
Circle 1 is r: 30 m and is fixed.
Circle 2 is r: 20 m and its position is inside circle 1.
Circle 2 can be moved in a given angle.
The question is: what distance should circle 2 move, to become tangent with circle 1.
I need to find a way how to insert a point or a * on the center point of a hole and put it on a different layer. The reason for this is - I am a CAD tech for a welding shop and we cut parts out of steel and we use the dxf file format for our plasma table to cut parts. For example : if i have a 1 inch thick plate and want to put a 3/4'' hole in the plate the hole will be distorted because the hole is smaller than the material thickness. For these situation we can use the plasma table to burn a point or a dot on the center point of the hole. But to do this the point or dot must be on a different layer in the dxf.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWorking on Acad2012 3d Civil. I draw a circle of 4000' radius and another one of 2000' radius. I put a tangent line between the two circles and I do see the tangent symbol but when I zoom in real close, it's not. So now I can't trim the excess radius of the two circle. I do have a trim line pasted the two supposedly tangent points. Is this a CAD issue or is their a variable to change that actually makes the lines tangent.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow does one draw a line tanget from the end of an arc.
I noticed the tangent snap stops at the end of the arc but one can still place a line beyond the end of the arc, thus no longer tangent.
tan.jpg
i want to snap this line to where it would be at a tangent to the arc (as right), but as you see (left) when i hover with TAN snap it picks a tangent from the pick point, not from object's orientation.
at the moment i construct a tangent by rotating a copy of my line by 90°, and snapping it to centre of the arc. then extend out past arc, where the intersection is now the point i originally wanted to pick. make sense? gotta be a better way!
When I draw a line, is there a way to say, "Start at point (864,0), go exactly 270° down (actually, I can hold down the shift key for that, but I digress...) and end at the other side of the canvas at point (864, 3456)?
A script would probably work well, but I've never dipped into that.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow can I draw a line from the endpoint of an existing line (snap to grid is on), without the lines being joined? Joining causes two problems for me:
1. The arrowhead at the end of the existing line moves to the end of the joined line, whereas I want the arrowhead in the middle of the combined line.
2. Even without entering isolation mode the new line gets joined to a line which belong to a group, thus becoming part of that group as well. This defies the use of grouping to create logically connected units.

I am trying to create a dimension in an .idw that goes from a line to the tangent of the outer diameter. I have tried several approaches but I cannot get it to work. Essentially I am trying to replicate a drawing which was created in Solidworks but I am having trouble with this dimension.
