Noticed that the multiple copy option has been removed from the rotate command? It used to be that I could choose the copy option in the rotate command and set a reference angle to create multiple copies of an object based on a rotational axis. Now the command will let you copy based on a reference angle, but only once. Is there a system variable I can set to bring this option back?
View 1 RepliesI frequently use ROTATE with the reference option, which is a very useful tool. Just wanted to do this again, but instead of the usual 4 point picking process I am asked to "Specify the reference angle" after choosing "reference". Never came across this before.
Did I unintended change some settings? It´s the first time I use ROTATE after reinstalling my AutoCAD a few days ago.
Is there a lisp that can be assigned to a script file to rotate-reference all items in a file always a certain way. This would be used to rotate files that are exported from revit before another team, that work only in CAD, can use them.

I know i've seen them in drawings where a portion is larger in a circle and with an arrow pointing to where the actual reference is. Or is that all done in modeling or drawing also?

View 9 Replies View RelatedOne of the new features in 2013 is the ability to copy a view that is on the idw. Is there a way to copy/paste a view, then replace the reference of ONLY the part in the view that was just copied?
What I have is two parts. For simplicity, just imagine both as a square plate. One has a hole in it, one doesnt. I have already dimensioned the square plate. Now I copy the view and paste it back on the sheet. I want to replace the reference of the one I just copied and change the reference to the part with the hole. If I use replace model reference command, it will replace both references, which is what I dont want.
Just a wish I guess, but the only way I can do this now it to place the second part on the sheet and start dimensioning it. Seems like a waste when we almost have the tools to quickly complete this.
Is there a way to change the marker size when selecting objects for move, rotate, trim, chamfer..etc commands?
I have tried Autosnap Marker Size, aperture size and cross hair size from the options menu with no luck.
i have various files which I cannot copy elements of into other drawings.
when i use the ctrol+copy command, I get the "copy to clipboard failed". This has only started since I upgraded to AutoCAD2012.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI found a program which rotates selected block(s) about thier insertion point. I modified it to rotate each of the block(s) about the y-axis. Works great. Now, I would like to change it so that it rotates a copy of each block about the y-axis and leaves the origial block in place. Its kind of like the mirror command exept it is rotating the new block(s) to the other side instead of flipping them. I want to keep all or the parameters of the block(s) the same as each original. I am using AutoCAD 2010. MOCORO is not recognized as a command. The new features workshop says to use the new command AMCOPYRM, which is not recognized either. Go figure.

I have a macro that i have been using in autocad 2012 for a simple copy & rotate command as follows
^C^C_select;auto;\_copy;p;;0,0;0,0;_move;p;;\_rotate;p;;\redraw
For some reason it now does not work in 2013 the macro exits after the copy part of the macro is finished & fails to let you rotate the copied object.
Any lisp routine where you can select objects and do a global rotate, scale, etc. from each object's insertion point ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have AutoCAD 2010 installed on 5 machines in our office. These machines work and save files to our server. One of the workstations always gets a pop up that it is missing reference files. No other workstations are running into this issue. We've tried having multiple users log into this specific computer but they all encounter the same error.
Another thing (which may be related to this error) the drawings that do open up on this computer don't line up. For instance we have a field in the lower right hand corner wiith text such as job name/number, tech who worked on the drawing etc. One all other computers this information lines up perfectly but on this one it doesn't as well os other lines on this machine don't line up properly.
I wonder if the RM can be used in reverse, i.e. to find which drawings reference a certain file.
Or is there another tool for this?
After creating a parametricly dimensioned, fully constrained, 2D drawing I wanted to add a couple of annotative reference dimensions to two different curves. I first select the parametric radius dimension (default is annotative). Next I click on the curve, then click the desired location. The dimension shows up, highlighted for editing. I press enter. Now the over-constrained window pops up giving me two options: Create a Reference Dimension or Reselect the Object. I choose Reference Dimension. The dimension immediately disappears. No error shows in the command bar. Attached is the file. It is the two large radii along the bottom (or top, its symmetric) that I am trying to give reference dimensions.

I have received a drawing from another company that has blocks. When I try to rotate the blocks to an angle through the properties dialog box or by entering an angle at the command line, I am not able to. The value is always set to "E". I can rotate it graphically by placing points on the screen, just not through a key in. It seems like there is a lock on it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe behavior in AutoCAD 2012 has changed with regard to the UCS command. I am trying to rotate my UCS along the Z-axis.
In 2011, I could enter UCS [enter] Z [enter] then select 2 points on *any* line using END point osnaps to have the ucs rotate along the Z-axis at the angle of the selected line.
Now in 2012 when I enter UCS [enter] Z [enter], a rubber-band line displays anchored from a pre-selected point which appears to be the drawing origin, usually 0,0,0. I am only allowed to select a single point, which results in the UCS NOT rotating to match the line as before.
I am aware that I could now use the OBject option, and then select one end of the line. This is fine except it does not work if I select a line that is part of an attached xref. With the old method in 2011, I could select 2 points of *any* line.
I am also aware that I could "type" in a value in both cases above but that option is too time-consuming and error-prone. Are there any legacy options available for the UCS command to make it work as before? Or is there a way to override the UCS-Z command option to not pre-select the first point at the drawing origin?
I have the AutoCad Map 2009 (32bit) with Windows XP on one Computer and uploaded AutoCad LT 2011 (64bit) in Windows 7 (64bit) on a second Computer. The Files could not be migrated (not the same Program and Operating systems) In Release 11 all my Reference File colors are now faded in Model and Paper Space. What do I have to change so that it looks like in Map 2009?

I'm using Architecture 2011, but the problem is pretty generic.
I am working with a very complex vendor drawing and using it as an xref to my working drawing. I need to be able to freeze parts of the xref and change colors (for plotting purposes) of other parts. Under ideal circumstance this would require simple layer manipulation.
My problem is that a large percentage of the vendor drawing is made up of blocks. There are nearly 1000 different blocks. Most of these blocks were created using layers other than 0 - quite often more than one layer is used. Sometimes the block is inserted on a layer that was used in it's creation, sometimes not. The only way I can omit one of these blocks from my drawing is to figure out what layer was used in it's creation and freeze that layer. You can see how this could be a pretty tedious process.
My limited CAD knowledge only gives me: edit all 1000 blocks, changing them to layer 0

I pasted a OneNote scanned image into a drawing file. I need to rotate the image slightly. I created a new UCS and rotated avout the Z axis. When I did this the image disappeared. When I restore the World UCS the image returns. Is there a way to rotate a scanned image?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I start Reference Manager, the program window opens but at the same moment a message window opens saying 'AutoCAD component has stopped working Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...'. A solution is not found, so I can only select 'Close program', and the program closes. I have run Reference Manager successfully a few weeks ago, and after that I haven't installed or removed Autodesk programs. I have Windows 7 64-bit, AutoCAD Mechanical 2012 SP2 and Factory Design Suite Ultimate 2013. I cannot use Reference Manager 2013 (which works) because it saves the files in 2013 format.

I had a DXF file with an external reference file inside, when showing in AutoCAD 2012, the external file appeared very 'dull' and blurry. But when I look at the same file in the new AutoCAD 2013, it shows very clear.. this puzzles me, and our clients are complaining about this quite often.
Is there a setting I can change in 2012 version to make it (external file) clearer? The right hand side shows the external file (table and words) much better than the left.
I have opened a block to add a quick leader only and when I tried to close I got the message cannot save back ... (see screenshot 1) when I hit f2 the problem is shown to be a missing application reference (see screenshot 2).
This may not seem a big deal but the problem actually occurred after about 15mins of editing a block and it has taken me about an hour to figure out what the culprit was
I need to print this drawing and I cannot get either print to PDF or print to printer working properly.
I was asked to create a local area map of the site and i used a google map image as the map. I have a paper space layout with labels and the company title block, with a raster image reference in the model space viewport, when I go to print this drawing using plot PDF the image comes out so grainy it's useless. When I plot to printer the paper space layout comes out great but only a slice of the raster image is printed.
No indication of problems can be seen in autocad's preview mode, and this doesn't happen outside of Autocad- I can open the image and have it print to PDF clearly, and I can open the image and print to printer without problems.

The image is supposed to fill the whole viewport, but most of the viewport is blank.
