If it was possible to copy a portion of a 3d objects so I can show a blow-up of how the pieces come together (better view). I know i've seen them in drawings where a portion is larger in a circle and with an arrow pointing to where the actual reference is. Or is that all done in modeling or drawing also?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a nice image that has lost the red channel histogram data for about half of the image. It can still be viewed, and the preview is correct.
Can I copy the histogram data from the red channel of the non-corrupt portion of the image? I know it's the red channel because when I open the color data from the corrupted portion the red channel is literally non-existant.
Noticed that the multiple copy option has been removed from the rotate command? It used to be that I could choose the copy option in the rotate command and set a reference angle to create multiple copies of an object based on a rotational axis. Now the command will let you copy based on a reference angle, but only once. Is there a system variable I can set to bring this option back?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a more efficient way to reference objects from different sheets.
Currently, I am using a method where I have a column on the left hand side of my sheet: with sheet number on top and "line" number on the bottom, as as sheet map. So when I have to reference something externally to the current sheet, I place one of those hexagons in the sheet with the corresponding location.
Is there a better, automated way to do this, as this can be frustrating to change when there is a slight shift and the line numbers have to be changed.
One of the new features in 2013 is the ability to copy a view that is on the idw. Is there a way to copy/paste a view, then replace the reference of ONLY the part in the view that was just copied?
What I have is two parts. For simplicity, just imagine both as a square plate. One has a hole in it, one doesnt. I have already dimensioned the square plate. Now I copy the view and paste it back on the sheet. I want to replace the reference of the one I just copied and change the reference to the part with the hole. If I use replace model reference command, it will replace both references, which is what I dont want.
Just a wish I guess, but the only way I can do this now it to place the second part on the sheet and start dimensioning it. Seems like a waste when we almost have the tools to quickly complete this.
I have a block that I use as hatch (using superhatch), so the block appears several times. At the border of the hatch I want to fix some of the lines.
If I try to ungroup & explode the hatch, then the block appears outside of the hatch boundry.
So my question is if I can fix the lines so the hatch remains whole.
How to reach Reference Text Object in Vba?
We can add Reference Text in Label Components. it can be referenced to Alignment, COGOPoint, Parcel, etc. For example, after that it is needed to select a COGO Point, and Label is changed from "???" to a property of selected Reference Object. I want to add Reference Text by VBA.
I'm using this function to copy blocks from one drawing to another. It works in AutoCAD 2004, 2006 but I need to know whether will it work in AutoCAD 2010. This is the code that I use and my question is if I add these lines to check version is the method will work or not.

I have a problem with acad files. Almost every time i try copying objects from one acad file to another the program becomes unresponsive. It can be just a line. I am using acad 2007LT. The files usually are edited in acad 2007 LT and newer versions like 2010 and 2011
When i try to copy files the command line displays:
"_pasteclip duplicate definition of block _archtick ignored".
After this message is displayed nothing happens. Left the pc to process more than 15 minutes and still noting. Recently i tried inserting such a file as xref, but no luck. The progress bar gets to 99% and it stops.
File size makes no difference because it happens with small files as well as large. I have to say that this problem doesn't accure to all the files, but the majority have this problem.
My colleagues using 2007 lt have the same problem.
When I need to copy something between files I make it a block and use design center to move the block between files.
I've tried this one Autodesk Developer Guide. But it hangs.
What i need to do is copy all objects into a new drawingtemplate and automaticaly run some code over this.
And close the drawing where i started the program.
Is there a way to allow Inventor 2013 to copy multiple objects when executing the 'copy' command ? Similar to in AutoCAD where you can continue to copy objects in multiple instances instead of it terminated after a single copy ?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Visual Studio 2010 and AutoCAD 2012 64bit on a Windows 7 64 bit machine 8GB of ram. I am trying to copy a user selection and then paste the selection in another drawing or the same drawing based upon buttons on my form. The user will specify a base point and then select all of the objects to copy. I store the objects in a selection set so that the user could paste the selection multiple times into various drawings. The copy works correctly and I get a selection set from which I obtain the object Ids along with a point to transform my objects. My problem occurs during my paste routine. The Deep Clone Objects or WblockCloneObjects seems to be working correctly and then I get into my code to transform the entities. I'm also storing some information about the blocks so that I can manipulate our proprietary database later via another function call. It seems like everything works correctly, but when I select a large number of objects I receive a fatal error. FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading oxffbc4008 Exception at ed010939h. It seems that the number of objects that people can copy varies on each user's computer.

I was trying to recover a temporary file but as i know now, it's impossible. I entered a few commands relating to grips and something else wich i don't remember, and now I'm unable to lock/unlock viewports and when I select objects to copy and then press _CO or copy button or copy with base point, it deselects the objects and asks me to select them again.

I'm working on a large infrastructure project with numerous of drawings. On quite a few layout drawings I need to have the same base set of references, however I need to change the layer settings (colors, lineweight etc.). This cannot be done in the base reference itself as it is used by others. As the layouts I work with includes other references as well, it is time consuming to filter and change layer settings on each base reference.
My concept is to have a master reference file to manage all layer settings and add/remove base references. When the master reference is referenced into the layout, all layer settings on the base references should stay as set in the master reference. In this way I can easily control all base references with one file and make sure all changes will be the same for all the layouts.
New illustration of concept:
Seem like when I cut and paste objects from one file to another, particularly objects with different annotative scale, my lexisting ayers would get corrupted. Standard layer names will be appended with "@_96" at the end (i.e. "symbols" to "symbols@_96"l . The 96 would represent the annotative scale factor in the current file. If I exit out and reopen the file, all layer names will return bsck to normal. However if I cont. to work on the file for a long time, the file will get corrupted. when restore, a lot of annotative symbols that where on different "@_96" layers will merge into on new "audit" layer. Sometimes the symbols show up with a different current annotative scale

I am getting this error in my production drawings.
My setup is as follows:
- EG.dwg has my existing surface in it. I create a data reference to use it in other drawings.
- Level One.dwg has the EG surface data referenced in, and I use this to create alignments, profiles, and finish surface. All of these are turned in to data references.
- Storm Sanitary.dwg has my pipe designs. I data reference in the two surfaces, profiles, and alignments, and create pipe networks. I create references for these networks.
- Plan Profile.dwg is the production sheet I'm getting this error from. Every one of my civil objects is data referenced in to this drawing. Everything is inserted correctly, the pipes show correct FG surface elevations for their rims, etc.
BUT when I open this drawing, I get this error. I assume it's because my FG surface is not directly in the storm sanitary.dwg.
How do I get rid of this error, without combining drawings, or promoting the surface to one or more drawings? Isn't this exactly what data references is made for?

& tossed the copied objects out in model space accordingly. But as stated it only does this periodically.
