Using 2011 with a PDF underlay. When the drawing is plotted as a PDF and the new PDF is opened, parts of the PDF portion of thew drawing are green. Changing the transparency, contrast, fade etc. of the underlay hasn't worked. I don't want to save the PDF underlay as an earlier PDF version because I'm snapping to parts of the underlay.
View 7 RepliesI have a little problem with autocad 2012. When I open a dwg in autocad 2012 some hatch turns solid, but same dwg is fine in autocad 2011 or previous versions. What is interesting if I am in autocad 2012 and i click on the hatch and change something on the properties and i click enter it turns normal to what it should be. So i click on the hatch again change back the whatever it was previously and hit enter. I regen everything and its still fine. So basically i did nothing to it and its fixed. So this might be bug I am not sure. So after all this, i save the dwg and exit. I re-open the dwg again in autocad 2012 the hatch is back to solid. What is very interesting in autocad 2011 everyhing is fine no hatch problems at all. I attached two pdfs as to what it should looks like when its correct hatch and what it looks like when i open it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am very news to photoshop and I am using CS4 and have experienced a problem today that I have not encountered before.l When cropping a picture just a small green box with the normal red outline exists in Navigator howeverf if I click on Histroy the original pictgure will show back up on photoshop.
for the first three weeks I did not have a probloem with this issue, I am trying to get a fell for photoshop and then upgrade to the newest edition.
just done a job for a client and when they get them printed they are not to scale (slightly smaller), i have checked my drawing and it is scaled correctly. i plot to a pdf and the client gets the pdf printed locally. when i print i print to extents and plot centred. i also sent a shopfit drawing from another company using the same method except their drawing was set to plot the layout, their drawing plotted correctly to scale so i am wondering now if plotting to extents is the cause of the problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am a draftswoman have been using Autocad for doing my family tree, but i am having trouble reading the PDF's outout when printed at a high DPI. I've attached copies of the same part of the screen printed at 150 DPI, when its clear and readable, and at 2400 DPI when it goes all faded and unreadable. But there are occasions due to some graphics that its better for me to print at 2400 DPI. is there any way of improving the text printed at the higher DPI to make it clearer and readable?

So, some angle and aligned length dimensions are mirrored.
PDF previewed with Adobe Reader and Foxit PDF reader.
File is created and printed in 2010 LT, hence no UCS rotation, text style and print settings unaltered.
How do you get an xref to appear faded when plotted onto paper?
I tried putting the xref's on their own layer and adjusted the transparency level.
We (several people at my company including myself) are having a problem where we set up sheets for plotting in paperspace that include multiple viewports. Often, the projects require us to use irregularly shaped viewports (i.e. not square/rectangular). When we print the sheets to our plotter, to PDF, or to any other printer, the page looks fine. However, if we print them to DWF using the DWF6 ePlot.pc3, the viewports will square off, allowing items that were not supposed to be shown outside of the viewport to come through. This has caused extra information to show up across our sheets, making portions of them unreadable.
We are at a loss on how to work around this, beyond only using square/rectangular viewports. Is there a way to get the DWFs to match what we can get out of other plotters?

BTW, when I attach a PDF underlay, AUTOCAD allows me to snap to the lines in the PDF and even measure them. Since it recognizes those lines, is there an easy way to copy the lines from the PDF into the drawing?
We recieved some drawings from a client for updating. The Pneumatic, System Link and Heat Trace lines all show up solid in the drawings when I open them up in AutoCAD 2012. We tried opening them in AutoCAD 2004 and are experiencing the same issue. In the Linetype Manager menu, under Description, the linetypes appear correct. Under Appearance, Heat Trace and Pneumatic appear solid and System Link appears dashed (just as they do in the drawing itself).
Here's the kicker. A co-worker has AutoCAD 2004 on his laptop and everything shows up and plots out just fine.
I'm trying to import a pdf underlay in AutoCAD 2012. However, every time I have imported it, the frame of the underlay shows up, but the pdf itself doesn't show up.
Contrast = 100
Fade = 0
Monochrome = No
Show underlay = Yes
Path is correct
I've tried importing image underlays (PNG files), and they work fine. Also, the pdf file is pretty big (about 100 MB), so I didn't know if that affected its ability to display. How to get this to show up?
I do a lot of estimating and I do my take-offs from the drawings that I get from Isqft. Problem is when you print from Isqft you can't adjust the paper size even though it may be a D size you always print to a E size. So I decided to save the pdfs and insert them into a drawing. Scale doesn't matter here since all I'm doing is getting device counts and making sure device placements are correct. After I insert the pdf in model space and set up my paper space to the size I want I go to plot but the software crashes and shuts down. I've printed pdf's from AutoCAD but never had this problem before.

I suddenly am having a problem viewing underlays. It happens with PDF Files and DWF Files. When I insert the file nothing is displayed. I dont see a frame or an image. All I get is a point. When I select the point the underlay ribbon bar comes up. I have the show underlay selected. The Fade is Set to 0, In properties I can the layer is set to 0, but under view the height and width is all 0.00000.
I am running straight Autocad 2012 w/ SP1. Its 64 bit on Windows 7.
If I insert a pdf underlay into a drawing, it won't display or print out. I know a pdf has been inserted as I can use Erase-All and it will say an object has been selected. The funny thing is that it all worked fine a week ago, and now doesn't. I can open a drawing done months ago which was fine but now there is no pdf displayed.
I've checked various settings against another computer and they are the same.
In Civil3d 2012 when the Edit in Storm and Sanitary Analysis command is used to send a Civil3d pipe network and Catchment areas to SSA the program appears to open as expected with the "Create New Project" dialogue box displayed.
When the Create New Project prompt is accepted nothing is displayed in the SSA plan view.
But.... If I go to the SSA File pulldown menu the .spf project file is available and when it is selected a dialogue box is displayed indicating that the Background file(the dwg) file cannot be found and do we want to search for it "Yes/No".If No is selected the pipe network is displayed as expected.
If Yes is selected and the dwg file located and selected then the pipe network is displayed as expected but the background file looks like proxy objects.

We have recently noticed that after printing a PDF of a drawing I plotted from AutoCAD we are coming up with differences when we double check the scale on the printed hardcopy using a carpenter ruler.
For example, there is a dimension labeled on the drawing of 200 ft. However, if I try to scale this out with a carpenter's ruler at the drawing was set to (say for instance it is 1 inch = 100 ft) I am coming up short of the 2 inches it should be (typically come up around an 1-15/16" or around 194 feet, approx 97% of the correct amount).
In the Page Setup Manager in AutoCAD, I have the following options selected (see the print screen as well):
Printer/plotter selected: DWG to PDF.pc3
Paper Size: ANSI full bleed B (11.00 x 17.00 Inches)
What to Plot: Layout
I don't have a plot scale scale other than the default 1" = 1'
No plot style selected
Then, on the print menu when I open the PDF that I have exported from AutoCAD, I have the following settings (see the print screens I have attached):
Printer: The printer I use (Konica Minolta c650 Series PCL)
And I have selected the Options "Auto Rotate and Center" and "Choose paper source by PDF page size**"
** Note, that I have tried unselecting the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option and accordingly changed the paper size in the "Page Setup..." button at the btoom to match the document size (i.e. 11.0 x 17.0in) and it gets the difference to be closer (i.e. I now get 198 ft but some of my border gets cut off). See the print screen below for this a print screen of the print menu and sub-menu of Page Setup showing the paper size selected.
I saw that some people in other forums state that there is no real solution when trying to scale off of PDF's and that there should be a disclaimer saying as much if you are to send the file out to a customer who may rely on doing some in the field scaling from the printed copy of the PDF file. I find it hard to believe there is no solution as we have received some drawings from others whom the scaling works just fine.
How to make the pdf's clearer better quality?
When i try plotting to dwg to pdf using dwg to pdf.pc3 plotter, the pdf's is bad quality, text is unclear in some areas and lines is "out of focus".
I have tried recreating the pc3 file with no luck.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got this weird error on Civil 2012, I have been working with Civil products for a few years now and have never had this happen till today. Other co-workers have had the same problem which only started to occur yesterday.
The Error; Was working on a drawing with multiple layers, surfaces, alignments, assemblies, corridors, and of course point groups. The screen froze for about 2 seconds when I was attempting to hatch an object, after the quick freeze all my layers (each assigned different colors) turned on (visible) and changed color to white. Everything on the drawing became inactive except for the save button and the close button. So I saved it and closed the drawing, I had other drawings open at the same time and these were never affected (still had color and could work on them). Since the save button was still working I never lost any work that I had completed but it is still annoying having to close and open the drawing since larger drawings can take a few min to open.
Is this an Autocad issue or is it something with our machines/network?

The pickbox keeps turning into a rectangle and not a perfect square. It's width is less than its height. This keeps happening and is annoying. When I close AutoCAD 2012 and then reopen the drawing its a square, but soon turns into a rectangle.
