AutoCAD 2010 :: Viewing MDT File
Sep 6, 2013Not sure of the version of MDT files, but they won't export into Inventor 2011 so they are older than MDT 2009.
I have been trying to figure out why client cannot see objects drawn in MDT when opened in vanilla Acad. I had him check what I believe is the main variable affecting this, proxy show, and it was set to 0. After setting it to 1 and doing a regen, still nothing.
I also checked proxy graphics and proxy notice and they are both set to 1, but neither affect this issue directly.
I've had a few people check this file on their systems and they can see the objects. Various O.S.'s were used to test the file, Win7/64 and 32, however the client who is having problems is using WinXP/32. I am also able to open and see the object on another WinXP system.
Something else to note, I realize this isn't the correct way to use aectoacad, but I tried opening the file in vanilla Acad and used that export to acad command and guess what? The client can see the object now!
I thought export to acad (aka aectoacad) was suppose to be used from what ever application the dwg first originated in?!?! If it works this way then so be it!
AutoCAD 2010 :: SLOW Regen When Viewing From The Right?
Jan 9, 2013What would cause AutoCAD to choke, ONLY when viewing a model from one direction? In my case, it's the right view, and it doesn't matter how I get to that view, ie "view, right" or "dview,clip". Views from other directions regen almost instantly, but from the right takes a full minute, while Acad tells me up top that it's [not responding].
Issue is only in single dwg. Tried audit, purge, etc. Wondering if there is some obscure (dwg specific) system variable causing this, before trying the WB to get rid of an offensive entity.
AutoCad :: Viewing Or Converting SHX Files In 2012?
Nov 16, 2011I have had a client send me over some information about a site we have out in the middle of nowhere, Australia, and they've sent over the info in a bunch of .shx files. The types are shown as Shape Source and Compiled Shape. So, is there a way for me to change the .shx files to .dwg or .dwf files without downloading a piece of software for $150-250USD without knowing if it really works? I've looked through the forums, but I don't want to convert the files from .shx to .shp, I also tried a couple of trial downloads for converters, but for some reason have only found downloads for 32bit machines, whereas I'm working with a 64bit machine, or they don't do what they say they do.

May 17, 2012I've attached an image of my problem for reference. I've had this problem in other versions of CAD so it's likely a user error that I'm not clear on how to fix.
I have several dimensions which I'm trying to place on my drawing through VPMAX in my viewport, but the text keeps showing up upside down. When I manually tell it to rotate 90 degrees, the text remains upside-down but the landing becomes vertical. When I rotate 180 degrees, the text becomes vertical which isn't really useful. Rotating 270 degrees almost solves my problem, but the landing is once again vertical.
If it matters, the UCS coordinates have been rotated 90 degrees for ease of viewing in paper space.

Nov 20, 2011how to disable F1 in autocad 2012. How to do this in 2012 version. The F1 key doesn't appear in the CUI under keyboard shortcuts. My internet connection goes off and on and when it's off hitting the F1 key freezes my computer. so I need to disable it.

Jun 27, 2012In the earlier versions of acad the "ctrl-w" toggled object snap tracking on or off, but in 2012 it is changed to Selection Cycling on or off. This is quite irritating, because I got used to toggle object snap tracking with it and still automatically use it for that purpose. But I tried my best in the user interface to find it and change it or even disable it. But can't seem to find it anywhere or change it for that matter.

Aug 1, 2013I used to work with older versions of autocad where i just draw a line and extend it by grabbing the vertexes of it. But in 2012 when i draw a line to anothers end point it welds the vertexes and if i want to move it the original line moves strangely with it.
I just want all my lines to be sepperate unless i tell it otherwise...

Jun 1, 2010how I can disable the feature that highlights external references when they are selected in the xref manager. When large drawings are referenced (and many of them), selecting references in the xref manager takes a lot of wasted time. It seems like each xref needs to regen just to select it in the manager. I know which referenced drawings I want to select and I don't need the visual clues, so I'd like to dump that feature if at all possible.

Sep 19, 2012Is there a system variable that disable the "Rename and Renumber Sheet" dialogue box from appearing when double clicking on layout tab of current drawing which is part of sheet set?
I used to be able to just double click on a layout tab and change it. This dialogue box can't seem to edit it if the drawing is open. We use the layout the tab as current revision of drawing.
I know I accidentally click on yes before when it asked me if I want to use the dialogue box to edit layout tabs but can't seem to find anything on how to disable it.

May 23, 2011I don't need or want the drag and drop (DROPGEOM) command. I never use it because it is much slower than simply using the move command or grips. But some times when I am going faster than the computer I accidentally do it and then have to wait while it moves the object and then wait while I use undo to move it back. It can take a really long time if I accidentally move a large xref. So is there some way to turn off drag and drop of autocad entities?

Mar 18, 2012I have many PDF slideshows and PDF images. It seems that Lightroom will not read PDF files though... I recall that Bridge can read PDF files. I believe it would be a useful addition to LR to enable the viewing and cataloguing of PDF files.

The reason I am asking is that the DisallowFlateCompressedPSD registry change for CS5, which disables compression of PSD and PSB files does not work for 8 bit files (it only works for 16 bit and 32 bit files)I work on large 8 bit files (4-8GB) and would like to know if CS6 would allow me to disable compression on those files.
Illustrator :: Saved Files Turn Into All Black When Viewing?

All colour is just black. I'm attaching a screen shot so you can see what I mean, the colours here are supposed to be a shades of a PMS colour, but instead they're all black.
Photoshop :: How To Export Layered TIFF Files For Viewing In Preview
Dec 10, 2012Being an architectural photographer I create a lot of layered files with many exposures with different lights on and daylight separately. I always save my layered files in a folder called Layered files in the project. I also save flattened 8 bit Tif's at full resolution for my client as a print file in a separate folder along with another folder for web and device optimized files. When my client opens some of my flattened files they tell me the only see one layer. When I open some of them in Preview I get the same result. I only see the last layer I put into my layered file. But when I open the same photo in Bridge I see the full flattened file as I saved it. What can I do about that?

Lightroom :: Slight Color And Quality Shift When Viewing RAW Files For First Time In Library Module
Mar 1, 2013I have been shooting RAW for a while and have notice that after I import the images and then start to view them in the Library Module I will see a slight color and quality shift - almost looks like a white balance shift but not quite. I was thinking that perhaps there was some automatic preset being applied but I don't have any presets at all.
I am shooting with a Canon 1DX as well as 7D. I have not checked to see if I get this situation with the 7D, but I know for sure that I get it with the 1DX.
Today I was reviewing some images in Bridge and decided to open one of them in Camera RAW. At that time I discovered that the camera's Image Style Settings were available, Faithful, Standard, Portrait, etc. I noticed that the images did not have one of the camera styles applied to them but rather the Adobe Standard Style. At that point from within RAW I selected one of the camera's styles and bingo thats the kind of shift I am seeing when I first view an image in LR4 Library.
So as far as I can tell the RAW images are getting the Adobe Standard style applied in LR. I have no idea if this is a default behavior of if I have done something to cause it. I'm also thinking that perhaps LR does not necessarily apply the Camera's Styles automatically even though the particular style has been set in the camera -- perhaps is not imported as part of the metadata during the import and thus defaults to the Adobe Standard.
1. Should I expect LR4 to apply the Style as set from the camera automatically or not at all?
2. Can I prevent LR from applying the Adobe Standard Style and apply no style?
3. Can I cause LR to apply the Style as set in the camera for the particular image to be appied automatically upon import?

Create a quick file.
Save on desktop.
Do not close the PS file.
Open Illustrator and place your PS file.
Now "option double click" the placed image in Illustrator to edit original.
BANG. You now have two identical PS files open.

Jan 13, 2014I have an Olympus OMD EM5 and I notice that when RAW files are imported into Lightroom, an automatic correction is applied by default. It appears to read this directly from the metadata of the RAW file. How to disable this?
The issue is that this correction means that the RAW files in Lightroom differ from both the camera viewfinder and JPG output in terms of composition - sometimes barely so, and sometimes significantly depending on angle, zoom etc. This is undesirable behavior in a lot of instances where you want the RAW to match your chosen composition.
Illustrator :: Disable CS6 From Recognizing Paths Inside Placed TIFF Files?
Aug 1, 2013I have recently output a job to print that was supplied .AI with a simple .TIFF image placed on an artboard at its desired crop.
After referring to the original TIFF file I have realised whilst inside illustrator my image suddenly has a clipping mask attached to it, and a lot of it is missing. (however in outline, illustrator only see's a single TIFF bounding box)
Looking more closely at the TIFF in Photoshop, i've found it has x3 paths inside it!) Illustrator is picking these up and masking my photo. Is there a default function or process that can stop this from happening in the future, so it ignores any paths within the file?

Mar 26, 2013I have loads of dwgs made by a former employee at another site that have our company logo in the tile block. I need to replace the company logo with a new one. If it were not made from a dwt, I could change the .dwg file and just reinsert the block and let it redefine the block, done. But since all of the text in each drawing was input using a template, I cannot do this without losing all of that data. We are not permitted to explode the title block, delete the old logo & add a new one as the drawing format needs to remain as one entity. Is there a way to automatically update these dwgs without re-entering all of the title/revision block text on every drawing?
