View 3 RepliesI am using AC LT 2008.
When inputting Single Line Text or Multiple Line Text I want to reduce the space between characters.
I mean the space to the left and right of the characters.
I do not mean the space between the lines of characters.
In typography this is called kerning.
In MS Word this is known as condensing.
I am using Times New Roman as my font of choice.
when using the arctext command I am not able to change the character spacing setting. Also, if I select the arc text which I created and select properties, then attempt to change the character spacing setting my AutoCAD 2010 system reads fatal error and crashes.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if it's just me but is Photoshop supposed to have so much space between the characters in text? I've added a screen snippet of what I'm seeing on my computer with it's current settings. I'm not sure if I have something set wrong or not. This is a minor thing but it annoys the heck out of me knowing I don't have complete control over the spacing of characters.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a logo with some character, but I am having issues with the chracter spacing.
There is a large gab under the font, and it is throwing off the dimensions of the final logo. Is there an easy way to cut this out?
When I (as I have in Photoshop CS2,3,4,5,5.5 and 6) click in the letting menu and change the letting, it allows me to change it and then when I click enter, it jumps down to a completely different number. I set it to 200 and hit enter and it drop to 19. I change it to 200 again, it becomes 47.
I am runnning the updated version of CC on windows 7 64-bit.
PSE doesn't show the user all the text formatting capabilities available in PhotoShop, but this script can alter the tracking (character spacing) of the text on a layer.
Here are the steps to use the script:
Open Notepad.Copy this text and paste it into Notepad:/*<javascriptresource><name>Character Tracking</name><enableinfo>true</enableinfo><menu>automate</menu><about>Adjust the kerning.</about><category>Typography</category></javascriptresource>*/var targettext = app.activeDocument.activeLayer.textItemtargettext.tracking = 30
Use "Save As" with the File Type of "All Files" to save it asCharacter tracking.jsxin the C:Program Files (x86)AdobePhotoshop Elements 10PresetsScriptsdirectory.Keep the .JSX file open in Notepad.Start PSE. You'll have a new menu item: File...Automation Tools...Character Tracking.Create a document in PSE with some text on a text layer. With a text layer selected, run the Character Tracking script. To adjust the tracking, simply switch to Notepad and change the numeric value after the equals sign, save the file and re-run it in PSE. (No need to close and re-open PSE.)
You can use negative values, too -- any number between -1000 and 10000 is OK.
For example, here's the original:
Here the tracking was set to -50:
And here the value was 300:
It works on paragraph text as well.
I teach in a large HS and students (and AutoCAD) occasionally stump me. I have architectural templates with layouts set up for Arch D paper. We almost always print to either ANSI B or Arch C paper. I have a routine for students to follow which will properly scale and position the layout on the desired paper size. Occasionally a student will do something to the layout which causes the WCS to be placed other than at the lower left print corner.
The result is the corner of the border line is displaced and half the drawing is off the page. When I check the limits the lower left corner has some very large values (don't know how they got changed). Most of the time we have to create a new layout and copy/paste the border and viewports.
I am trying to use the Arc-aligned text command from the Express tools menu. No matter what style, height, offset i enter i get a box that says "Invalid text!". I never use this command in my work but am trying to create a banner
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just started working for a new employer as a 2012 AUTCAD Tech: they have only used old school DTEXT for everything (what a pain compared to multi-text "MTEXT").
Problem: I converted several single line Dtext to Mtext (.075 test height) paragraphs but can not achieve the same spacing they have been using (.225) because .025 is not an availalbe increment in the parapgrah & line spacing selection. Is there a way or a LISP that will allow me to add custom spacing choices to the Line/Paragraph spacing default list?
Then I can upgrade so much and work faster, yet maintain the standard spacing already set via snap grid settings.
The text that we're using for the majority of our notations doesn't look very good at 1.0x scale so I try and adjust the paragraph line spacing to 0.8x as I go. I also know that if I create MTEXT and adjust the paragraph line spacing at the prompt it will "stick". However it doesn't stick for leaders and there's no real way of creating a permanent setting, is there?
Slight inconvenience of adjusting that setting each time I create a leader.
I normally use AutoCAD Electrical 2012 but my problem is AutoCAD so I thought I would log it here.In ACE there are default profiles for ACE and Vanilla AC. I use the Vanilla AC for basic CAD drawings.
I like the feature "Base Line Spacing" for dimensions, to state the obvious,BUT it I do some vertical dims then try to do some horizontal dims (both in base line spacing) the software wants to stay in vertical BSL.
I can find is to create a standard DIM, delete it, then i can do a selection of horizontal BSL.Is this how it works in AC2012? Or is it a function of ACE? There are some other functions in ACE that do not work in standard CAD under the CAD profile.
Is there any way to control the line spacing when you have text within a cell of a table? Specifically I want to change the spacing to act similar to 'EXACTLY 1.0' like in the MTEXT editor. Please see the included dwg.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I place a dimension and have text above and below the dimension line (using X), and then grip edit the dimension text to move it for space/clarity on plans, the text above and below the line will mysteriously move closer to the line. If I have backgrounds applied to the text, which I normally do, the backgrounds will cover the line. Even without the background, it looks odd next to other dimensions that were not grip edited.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working with tables that are linked to data from an excel file. After I create a table I dettach it from the excel file. I do not want the excel file to control the table.
I then need to update the text format of all the text in the table. I've noticed that the text strings are still formatted based on how the excel file was formatted.
The only way to remove this is to click on the cell, highlight the text, right click, and then select Remove Character Formatting. Unfortunately I have to do this for each text string.
Is there a way to remove the character formatting for all of the text strings at once?
Even better, is there a way to format the table so that it does not change the text style based on what is in the excel file but instead based on AutoCAD's text styles?
I'm currently getting the "1324 Error. The folder path 'My Documents' contains an invalid character."
when trying to run AutoCad 2010. It had been working fine previously, but now it gives this error and won't allow me to use it. I am also unable to uninstall or reinstall the program without getting the same error.
I have confirmed that the profile is not set to roaming. I have also tried deleting the registry entries as recomended here:

I have alignement of wall or embankment. I have existing ground including this corridor river. I have also CSV file with points (x,y,z). On my sketch there is drawn. Points present FDL (flow defence level) maximum level of river in case of huge rain or other things. These are almost aligned. I need to transform it (project) into alignment. I have to create profile of EG, FDL (based on this point) and then create new profile of height of wall or bank. What is the best solution for projecting this points. I tried with grading (distance and grade0%) I tried then with offsetting this feature line based on points and used it as breaklines. Created surface had holes.Even real is worst because alignment is perpendicular in same places to river.

Trying to place this dimension text. Is there any circumstance that someone would want the leader to be the final result of this animation?
Of all the ways to generate a leader (when the correct one to the center of the dim can't be generated), the extremely acute angle version doesn't seem like the best option.

I have some models which are based on skeleton modeling and where the actual parts are modeled at the position where they are in the assembly. When the skeleton part is changed the parts will update and their orientation related to the origin planes can change. This is where the problem lies, on the drawings of these parts the views are all skewed after an update.
Is it somehow possible to tell Inventor that all views on a a drawing should stay alligned to a workplane? Because it are all parts and no assemblies I cannot use posreps (and I don't want to use dummy assemblies). I also tried setting a specific edge to be horizontal with the rotate command in the drawing. This works for the base view, but all projected views will still be skewed after an update.
