3ds Max :: Split Pipe Open

I am working in 3ds Max Design 2012.

I have a short piece (4") of thin-walled pipe that is split longitudinally (sp?) - in other words, it is not a complete circle... and has a 1/4" gap that I can insert spreader pliers into... I want to 'open' the gap with spreader pliers (to release it) and thus, the pipe must 'act' accordingly.

I attempted using the Bend modifier, but did not have desired results. I might also add that I have not used Bend modifier beforehand.

I am attempting to split a face so I have a good area to apply a load in simulation and 3/4 of the areas split just fine but I CANNOT get the 4th area to split! This is all just projected geometry but left and right are symmetrical so I can't figure out why the L side works but not the R side.

One of the things I seem to struggle with is being able to depict a single pipe when it needs to be shown in one profile as a crossing pipe, and another profile where you you show a lenghwise slice through the pipe. I end up tracing the pipe with eliptical objects where I'm cutting across the pipe and setting up more for the lengthwise/sideview of the pipe. Is there a way to have two different styles for the same pipe, one for a cross cut and one for a lengthwise slice?

AutoCad :: Pipe Cutting Template - How To Unwrap Pipe Into Flat Section

I have these two pipes, one is 4" diameter (running horizontally) and the other is 6" diameter running at a 30degree from horizontal angle. eventually the two hit, and at that intersection I need to make the 4" pipe join to the 6"' pipe, which then continues on its merry way farther down the structure. So I can extrude the two pipes, and I can even make a union and then remove the excess of the 6" pipe, because what I am really looking for is: a cutting diagram for the joint where the remaining 4" pipe hits the 6" section. A cutting diagram for the short piece of a Y joint.

I can make this image appear on my screen, but I am then stumped as to how to unwrap the pipe into a flat section so that I can see the curvature of the cuts required in planar view, for the real pipe that I have on my shop floor.

3ds Max :: Split UV Tiles

Sometimes when UV unwrapping, the map, for some reason ends up as individual tiles, even though the mesh is a single object. How can I fix that? Every single polygon has thick, green lines - like seams. When generating normal maps, it simply comes back as 'squares' of nothing, but laid out accordingly to the UV layout, so it's useless and holds no detail what-so-ever.

There are no inverted faces or overlapping faces, so that is not it. I can't weld every single vertex - there are thousands of them, of course, so it's rather baffling. The vertices, though, are connected, so that too is not the problem.

I have been using VS for quite some time, along with my Panasonic GS500. When capturing my video, VS would create a file for every start /stop of the video. I shoot high school football. This is extremely convenient for cataloging plays, because each play is its own file. I know that "Split by Scene" is available, but it does not create a file for each play.I recently purchased a Canon XH-A1s and wanted to move to HD. will the new Canon camera and VS Pro X4 provide for the same type of capture, when optioned for HD.

I am using VS Pro X4 on a Windows XP Pro PC. When I 'capture' video from by vidcam (DV tapes) using 'split by scene' all the resulting clips all contain the first frame of the following clip.

I had this problem a year ago using my laptop on a VIsta Business platform and though that perhaps the 'problem' had something to do with Vista (well Vista isn't everyone's ideal platform) but now I am experiencing it on an XP PC so I am thinking that it is caused by VS Pro X4.

Is there a fix for this and/or a setting to stop this annoying problem. I am thinking that if No then I should reinstall VS 9, which I never had this problem with, just to allow me to capture video by scene correctly.

I've been doing a project using two different cameras, I've done some of it and saved as a .mpg without a problem.Now for some reason I cannot use the split clip tool it is greyed out all the time no mater how I have the clip in the timeline be it set to clip or project.

I made one cut to align two clips now nothing..As I say I've completed three parts of the project without a problem using the split clip tool.

I'm trying to achieve simple task, but can't do that. I have a guilloche background made of strokes. I need to cut them by a shape. The visual result i'm tring to achieve is the same as using the clipping mask. However i need to apply the mask to the strokes, and remove everything that is outside the shape. So is there a way of doing that?

Scirssors tool is not an option cos it'll take entire life to cut all the strokes manually. Outline opption in pathfinder is somewhat close, but then it's barely impossible to delete the cutting shape as it gets segmented as well.

I have over 40,000 images in one catalog, which is by date, within month, within year (back to 2005). Example: Today's images are set to import into folder 2011/Sep/02. I realize this is crazy and I'd like to split my existing catalog into one for each year. I recognize that to find an image from a year in the past, I might have to load and look into multiple catalogs, but I think the ability to back up a catalog at the end of a year and create a new one will make backing up WAY more effective than having, as it were, "all the apples in one barrel."

I have used my Video Studio Pro X3 to creat a few videos. When I now try to creat a video the split by scene buttion is greyed out. I dont think I have done anything with the settings on my Camera a Sony HDR CX7EK. I record in standard definition and the file created has an extension .mpg with 720x576, 25 frames per second. The only difference this time around is that I took the memory card from the camera and transfered it to the computer with a reader instead of using the sony transfer and charging docking station. Strange is that I can also not split by second when using old projects where I could split scnenes some 6 months ago.

I also did read in a few other posts the button is greyed out if you record in analog cameras, which is understandable, but to my dissmay it seems like splitting by scene does not work on HD recorded files, is that true as i have used the HD function in the camera and created AVCHD files with file extension .MTS and plan to creat a few movies later on?

I'm using Corel Video Studio Pro x4 to make a promotional video for an upcoming event, and I used the split audio function to, surprise, separate the audio. Here's the problem: It has no sound. When I play it as a clip, it works fine. But if I play the project as a whole or add any kind of filter to it, it is mute. I've tried saving the project and opening it in a media player, still nothing. My music track and video track play fine, but the split audio does not.

I have my editing all done for a 2 hour 12 minute video. It has been my experience that I can get about 1hr 7min. on a DVD. Normally when i'm done editing, I choose Share > Create Video File > DVD. This creates a DVD compatable mpeg-2 file for burning later. I know I want to create 2 seperate DVD's. How do I split the video? Is it possble to slpit in the editing phase? I'm using VS pro 12.

I would like to split this part into two seperate Ipt files so i can assemble it a different way.

For example,

the part i wish to design is an alternate keying of the one i just drew-

meaning that a solid of the part is rotated 60 degrees in this case.

Is it possible to do this with inventor commands?

I modified a box build in Inventor in Fusion and then imported it back into Inventor as a bowl. I am trying to split the bowl in half and create an assembly drawing which I can submit. When I try to split the bowl I get and error message: "The attempted operation did not successfully complete due to unforseen problems. Try with different inputs or outputs."
