View 1 RepliesI'm working from a book tutorial and the book wants me to "turn off Surface Selection" in the "Selection Mask Options".
I've looked everywhere but can't find "Selection Mask Options".
Is there something like a "Maya 2011 Bible" out there (or even 2010 or 2012)? The publisher that makes the Bible series does not seem to have made one for Maya since 4.5. I was wondering if there was a book or website that simply listed every Maya option with a short description and its location.
i'm trying to create a mask in photoshop7
(i know how to create a mask in flash)
I have 2 layers-
top layer - custom photoshop shape (Heart)
buttom layer- big image.
and i want to create a mask so i'll see the image in the custom shape of heart.
(i'm selecting the heart, holding ctrl shift and click on mask but notin happens..)
Im getting myself in a mess with this one, i need to have a picture as the background With two videos running one in the blue section & one in the red!
Is there a easy way to do this? or will i have to make two mask one for each video? if so how would i make them?
I have a picture of my Dog that I took in front of out old house. It has cars and other junk in the background.
Is there any way I can create a mask around my Dog so that I can cut out that portion and paste it onto a better background ?
Coming from a background in Micrografx Picture Publisher (which is no longer made) in that program all I had to do was:
1)define a basic mask
2)click on the edit mask tool
Win7x32 and PS CS6.
To reproduce bug create any new file. Create levels layer with any mask. Activate "mask viewing" by pressing Option/Alt and clicking to mask icon on the levels layer in layers panel. Then try to call menu->select->color range.
way to create a clipping mask for a group (folder)?
It seems I can only create them for single layers, but not for a whole grouped bunch of layers...
How does one go about creating a layer clipping mask using the SDK?What I want to do is to simulate clicking on the "Make/Release Clipping Mask" button (the left-most picture button) that is at the bottom of the Layers Panel.

Can i create a saturation mask based on a gradient map? For the example a gradient blue from 2441f6 to 6075f6 , and have a luminosity mask based of this gradient.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm currently working on a project in which I have a background that has a large text layer above it. What I want to do is create a sort of "dynamic" clipping mask that essentially subtracts the shape of the text from the background yet remains editable as text in case I need to change the word or font.
However every way I've tried so far as been met with the backgrounds instead being constrained inside of the shape of the text...which is NOT what I want.
How can I do this while still having the text able to be edited?
On the Artboard are a few lines of text (black on the white background) and an image. Let's call the item being created a "placard." The placard's content part works...all is well with the text and image.
Adding rounded corners to the placard does not work.
Added a "rounded rectangle" with an imperceptible stroke (very dark blue)Tried various combinations of colors for the rectangle's fill (e.g., [None], white, black, red, very dark blue) behind the text, thenTried to create a clipping mask (so the resulting placard has rounded corners). I have wasted hours attempting and researching (RTM and videos) how to do this...and can clip with two very simple colored boxes...yet cannot get the placard to end up with a rounded edge.
I am looking for a way to create an opacity mask through JavaScript. My program has the correct items selected, I just can't seem to find any documentation about creating an opacity mask. If I run the program as is, I just need to click one button ( "Make Mask") and the desired process is completed. Of course I would love to find a way to do this programmatically.
If I cannot access Opacity mask, is there a way to manually do this through grouping and blending or something?
This is something I recently wanted to do, but found that the clipping in Edge Animate only allows us to make a square or rectangle shape. I'm pretty disappointed by this because technically you can make a circular, or elliptical, clip shape using HTML5 and CSS3. Also, the same is true for masks. I would love to see this as a future update in Edge Animate because I can see a few more instances where I would want to use clipping, or masking, in this way.

I am working on a video piece and I need to mask out a moving figure throughout the entire video, what is the best way to to this? I know that I can import the video frames to layers in CS3 and then create a mask on each frame, but there are thousands of frames - and when I render the video from the animation it is slow to run in quicktime. Even if I were able to edit each frame, it seems like there should be a better way.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have created a heart object. When I powerclip an object inside the heart, I would like the object to be faded around the edges of the heart. I might want the edges of the graphic to be unevenly faded or feathered (I hope these are the correct terms). I also want to do this with an oval I created.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to develop an animated GIF to use as a web-ad, I have readthe docs and googled but still having problems :-(
The ad (portrait format) is very simple: a background logo at thebottom of the ad, and three different text messages which rotate. Ithus created a bottom layer with the logo covering the bottom third; asecond layer with nothing but the first text message on the upper2/3rds, another layer with the second text message also in the upper2/3rds and finally a layer with the third text message in the upper2/3rds. While the logo at the bottom should be displayed at all timesthe three different text messages are shown one at a time.
After reading the docs I then expanded each layer with a text messageto be as large as the ad itself. My next step was to try to create alayer mask - for each of the three layers with the text messages, saidlayer mask to cover only the lower 1/3 where it would be transparent.
This is where I ran into problems, no matter what I tried, I could notaccomplish this. There must be something very basic I have yet tounderstand!
Last, in order to create the animated GIF, I exported all four layersusing "replace" in the dialog box. I also experimented with "combine"to no avail. No matter what I tried, I either ended up with an animatedGIF where the logo and the three different text messages over timebecame overlaid, or, an animated GIF where only one thing was shown atone time.
What have I missed?
Ive been looking through various tutorials on how to create a mask that leaves the detail of the hair of the subject in
It seems all the tutorials I have looked at choose a subject with jet black hair, invert it, and hey presto, job done
Unfortunately, all my kids have got fair hair, and no matter what I try, find it almost indistinguishable from the background
How to do this, cos im losing my mind trying to paint strands of hair in and having the result look like Ive cut the image out of a magazine with a pair of left handed scissors (im right handed!)
I have been using Gimp for awhile (love it!) and have always used layer masks with no problems. But for some reason when I create a layer mask by filling in an area with black it isn't 100% opacity. Everything seems to show 100% opacity, but I can see the layers underneath (the mask is maybe at 90%??). If I "show layer mask" it is black where it should be and white where it should be, it doesn't look transparent. All my layers are set to "normal" mode. I'm at a lost as to what setting I must have changed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created custom text, so that each letter in my 3 letter word is a separate compound object.
Now I have made a filled (with gradient) ellipse and rectangle behind the text to create a clipping mask with all 3 text objects. (see image1) However, when I select all the objects and select: object>clipping mask >make, it only mask the one letter, which is the one on top. (see image 2)
However, when I group the 3 letters together, it does not create a clipping mask at all, it shows nothing... (see image 3)
How do I ake all 3 letters be in the mask?

I am drawing animations with the brush tool onto a black solid layer which is set to add blending mode.
My goal is to create a mask on the solid layer to hide a certain area of what I drew... but it doesn't change anything.
I noticed when I add another effect to the layer (such as curves) the mask does hide that area of the effect, but thats not exactly what I'm trying to do.
ps. I have After Effects CS6
Is there anyway to create a gap in AEC extended wall in 3ds max. I know to create a gap while using doors and windows. But I wish to create a gap without any doors or windows. I do not want to use proboolean also, because I need the properties of Walls too.
Is there any modifier to create proboolean? Can we create a curved wall using AEC extended wall?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was creating a gun on 3DS and everything was fine, I started with an horizontal Cylinder but since I wasn't happy with the final result I wanted to restart.
Now when I create that Cylinder again it's created vertically, not horizontally, probably I pressed something that I didn't want to, I want every object to be created in an horizontally way, how can I do that?
PS: I don't want to use any modifiers and/or mirrors, I just want every object to be created horizontally!
How to make this shape? I am using this lamp in a project for school. I have attempted to create this shape with many different methods. I tried a Gengon but that did not work and I tried piecing the lamp together with individual pieces but that looked cheap.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to create a animation like this with a very Engineering Drawing theme to it: URL....I have also attached two images (stills) from the animation.
The question is, how do I create the "construction" lines (i.e. the blue marker lines) that go beyond the models? Is this something I should consider doing in post?
My current approach is to use planes with textures of the "construction" lines and linked to 3D models. The lines would also look like marker pen/pencil lines.
An alternative could be to use lots of lines and make then render-able but then they would look too perfect and not pencil graphite or marker lines.
I'm trying to create a surface between 2 splines. See attached image. I normally do this in AutoCAD very easily but I I'm playing around with the Max modeling tools.
I have tried drawing a spline between them and using loft. But the loft surface does not go between the two splines.
I have tried drawing a spline between them, converted them to nurbs and tried a number of the nurb surface options such as 2 rail and ruled. But they both create a surface but the surface does not go the full length of the splines.
