how to get the desired end result. When applying the Gaussian blur effect, I find that doing this always adds additional width or height to my object which makes the graphic larger than the desired size. To be more specific, I have a rectangle that is 640px by 100px and I want to add an element on top of that is 640px by 4px. I add the Gaussian blur effect to the 640px by 4px object so that my rectangle appears to have depth and my overall graphic is not flat. The problem comes when I export the both elements because the Gaussian blur has now increased the width of my graphic to be larger then desired. Is there a why to add the Gaussian blur effect without increasing the width of my graphic? The final result is a graphic width of 656px.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to blur some text so that it blends in with the background a little. I found the perfect way to do this using the Live Effect, Soften Filter, Motion Blur. However, when I finish getting it to blur to exactly how I need it to look, there is no option to apply this to the text. When I close the box (the only option available) I lose the effect! How do I get it to apply to my text? Do I need to change the text to a shape first?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am on Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 2013.I have a headshot that I can cut out of a larger photo using the freehand tool to trace the edges and then subtract the background that I want cropped out.
Now, I'm trying to figure out how I can apply some kind of transparency to the edges to soften them up a bit so they aren't so stark and will overlay nicely over my site background once the image is uploaded.
I have inherited a site tempate, and am trying to change the logo to emulate the text already present on graphics on the site. The site is at [URL]. I have played with varying the shadow on the lefthand text image but it just can't emulate that on the right which was supplied with the site layout. I can't get the shadow to have the same soft blur as the text on the right.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIm using sing Designer Pro X9, I have a large photograph and I would like to make links in different sections in the photograph so when the cursor goes over a section a popup layer with text would appear and go away when cursor is moved away again. I have tried putting layers over it but I cant get more than one layer to work.

To more precisely describe what I need, I need to create gradient with direction of normal for every "point". The best example I have found so far are borders in Civilization IV game. Here are two examples:

As you can see, there is a solid curve, which gradually blends (i.e. alpha channel is lowered) till the gradient disappears. I have the solid curve and the question is, what would be the simplest way how to do this (the number of curves is around 100) gradient.
I just got PSE CS6 and the blur too will NOT work ....blur filters work, but not BLUR in the tools panel I have tried: unintstall/reinstall, updating, using it no a picture straight after opening it, duplicate layers, selecting an area and then blurring....flattening an image, every single different setting in the the blur tools menu bar NOTHING works. And everything I find about blur is the new blur filters....
View 1 Replies View Relatedi was working in Photoshop CS5, and all of a sudden my file appeared as above.
I am working on a multiple layered file and sections just instantly became removed from each of the layers in different spots.
I tried restarting photoshop but its still the same.
I want to crop a square section from an image, using the rectangle tool, under options i choose square but then it blacks out the section of the image and is not movable, in PSP7 when doing a similar action, this square part of image is movable, how can i make this the same in photoshop?

I have an image sized 20" x 24". I just have a standard 8.5" x 11" printer. Can I print the image in sections? If so, how?I did this with a PDF document once.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat is the easiest and quickest way to remove this section or blur it with the background? I've tried using the dropper to select the background colour nearby and then using the paint brush to cover it up but my "fix up" seems to stand out just as much as the blutac did in the original...
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been asked to produce a timeline to be printed 110cm deep by 410cm wide and wall mounted on Foamex.
The time line will be made up of individual panels - one for each year. 2010 / 2011 / 2012 / 2013 / 2014...
The reason for each year to be printed as a separate panel is to prevent 2013 being plonked on the end of previous years - hope that makes sense! (Each panel will be a summary of the year.)
Ideally I would like to design the timeline with a flowing background graphic so I would need to create the main background as one, then exactly crop each year panel to print individually.
What I'm unsure on is how best to crop each year including bleeds ect so when butted uptogether the design looks seamless.
How I can achieve the blur effect on this image - Also the transparent sort effect too.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI take photographs that need the top and bottom center point pulled in to straighten out for image distortion (looks like a bow tie when I'm done). I'm aware that it will interpolate if I expand the image so I have always contracted rather than pull the four corners out beyond the canvas edges. There is a noticeable blur or softening of the image that happens. Does anyone know of a way to cure or minimize this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to blur just one edge of an image in my site header, so it fades into the white background rather than retaining a sharp edge. I could finally get the effect (using an alpha channel and Refine Edge) but couldn't get it to stick when saving.
I read that JPGs can't accommodate alpha channels but even a tif didn't work.
I tried different functions like Refine Edge, feather, etc - all to no avail. I was working in PSD.
how to accomplish this effect with the car in full focus and the background motion blurred?
I can't seem to make it look natural when I try to select the car and apply the motion blur to just the background.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've created my business card using gimp a few times. I usually us Vista Print to print it. The picture resolution is at 300 but when I get the printed image it has a little blur around the wording (that's the best way I can describe it). It's not a clear print. What do I need to do to have a more clear image to print? When I see the image on my computer it's crystal clear... I just wish it would print that way.

I want to cut out a section of an image and drop it onto a white background in another image.
I drew a vector point to point line around the area I wanted to copy and chose "selection from vector object" thinking that this would select the region inside the vector object. I then tried "copy merged" from the menu and pasted the clipboard into the new image. Now this didn't work and the copy only seems to copy the what is under the selection line rather than what is enclosed.
I want to know that how to clean and sharpen a blur and very poor solution image?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a photo and I would like to blur the bottom of the image while leaving the top of the image sharp, similar to limiting the depth of field by using a large f-stop. I created a gradient mask and then used Filters > Blur but it is not working. If I choose the layer that I created the mask on and choose blur, nothing happens. If I choose the layer (background) under the mask then the whole image blurs.
