However, when applying those same filters to larger images like files with a 5184x3456 resolution, the filters have little to no effect. I'm guessing this is because there are so many more pixels that altering each pixel has a less noticeable effect.
You can see an example here with the accented edges filter run over a smaller version of a picture I took, and then a larger one (that was then downsized to make it viewable): [URL]
The 1280x853 one looks pretty cool. On the larger 5184x3456 version the filter had almost no noticeable effect.
The problem is that I want the cool looking version like is seen in the 1280x853 version, but at a high enough resolution to print on a large canvas that is, say, 40' x 40' or so. Is it possible to get the bigger image to look like the smaller one without losing the resolution required to print it on a canvas that large? I've been trying to figure this out for weeks now...
I'm designing business cards and made my image to scale but when I try to print it says there are resolution problems. I'm not sure what to do. I set the print size to 3.5 inches wides by 2 inches tall but every time I upload it to the print company it say low resolution poor quality.

He's using Photoshop on a Windows Vista 64-bit machine with 4GB RAM and around 3.5TB of storage space. Do you know why the sluggishness might be occurring?

I was going for the distressed look that it has, it looks ok when I print it out considering it's low res and I blew it up fairly large. However, it's a little too pixelated to look professional when printed. Are they any tricks or things I can do to make it look higher res for print. I've attached the image as well as a screenshot of the InDesign file so you can see it in context.

Is it possible to take a 72dpi .jpeg or .gif file and easily convert it to a higher resolution printable graphic? If Photoshop can't do it, is there any type of program that can?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been working on this photograhph. This is my great grandma, grandma and mom - and I really want to make this picture look better. I have been working with curves, which helps greatly with the contrast, and then tried reducing the noise with median/gaussian blur etc. and then selecting overlay.... but I haven't found anything that turned out even decent.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have noticed with PS CS2 that when I make an image with the gradient tool that it leaves horizontal lines on the image.
If I'm working with the gradient tool it does not leave a clean image. There are always some vertical, horizontal, or angulared lines ,,,or even circular lines that I don't want in my images.
When I make the images in CS2 and view them, it's fine. But after I save it and open it up in something else or CS2 later, the lines appear on the image.
How do I make an image so that it does not have the horizontal marks or lines in it.
I have multiple pictures of the same product but had to focus on different parts to get those parts in focus. As you can imagine, this meant other parts were out of focus.
I seem to remember during one of the "CS3 is cool" seminars I attended that something along the lines of what I'm hoping to do is possible.
I would like to merge these images together to form one image with everything in focus. Exposure is the same on each of them.
Is this possible (and if so, how) or am I dreaming?
When I export the image quality is poor. I tried all settings but it does not get better. E.g. I used JPEG, progressive, highest quality. What is the reason for that?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI am using two different types of raster ECW and MrSid. ECW file resolution goes way down when plotting. They look like blocks. MrSid files look fuzzy but alot better than ECWs. I've tried RASTERTHRESHOLD, and RASTERPERCENT. Both are set to 90. Using HP6100ps.
Images are fine when using Imageinsert.
Is there a setting i'm missing somewhere for them?
is there anyway that the blur can be taken out of this image?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI captured the attached image from a MythTV recording. A buddy of mine would get a kick out of it if I could find a way to enlarge it such that it looks good on a Letter- or A4-sized printout.
I've enlarged the image 10x and successfully applied the "Despackle" filter, but the lines in the cartoon look pretty blurry. The "Sharpen" and "Antialias" filters don't seem to readily do what I want them to do.
How to clean the image up so that it looks good enlarged?
I would like to scan an image and clean it afterwards because areas of the same color in the original image (a poker card, so a simple logo with white, black, red, blue and yellow areas) end up to have spots of different color.
Is there a way to improve scan fidelity or edit the image with Gimp in order to smooth these differences and recreate the same areas of uniform color?
I have some random curves (already created) and I want to blur them just from one side to have the same blur distance and effect one the whole curve.
To more precisely describe what I need, I need to create gradient with direction of normal for every "point". The best example I have found so far are borders in Civilization IV game. Here are two examples:
3.bp.blogspot.com/-40x9Kw5vrrA/TiHjTNwOuQI/AAAAAAAAADA/uw2NeAnsmOk/s1600/Civ4ScreenShot0008.JPG
apolyton.net/civ4/files/info-images/agade.png
As you can see, there is a solid curve, which gradually blends (i.e. alpha channel is lowered) till the gradient disappears. I have the solid curve and the question is, what would be the simplest way how to do this (the number of curves is around 100) gradient.
How I can achieve the blur effect on this image - Also the transparent sort effect too.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI take photographs that need the top and bottom center point pulled in to straighten out for image distortion (looks like a bow tie when I'm done). I'm aware that it will interpolate if I expand the image so I have always contracted rather than pull the four corners out beyond the canvas edges. There is a noticeable blur or softening of the image that happens. Does anyone know of a way to cure or minimize this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to blur just one edge of an image in my site header, so it fades into the white background rather than retaining a sharp edge. I could finally get the effect (using an alpha channel and Refine Edge) but couldn't get it to stick when saving.
I read that JPGs can't accommodate alpha channels but even a tif didn't work.
I tried different functions like Refine Edge, feather, etc - all to no avail. I was working in PSD.
how to accomplish this effect with the car in full focus and the background motion blurred?
I can't seem to make it look natural when I try to select the car and apply the motion blur to just the background.
when i use text over a blurred image...the text color is not proper...i mean..i am using black as text color but the color i see on the monitor is gray....why's that..?? and is there any way so that i can have the original text color i want.... and.. i am making a webpage for 800X600 pixels monitor....what canvas size should i work on.?? and will it look bad on a 1024x768 pixel monitor.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got PSE CS6 and the blur too will NOT work ....blur filters work, but not BLUR in the tools panel I have tried: unintstall/reinstall, updating, using it no a picture straight after opening it, duplicate layers, selecting an area and then blurring....flattening an image, every single different setting in the the blur tools menu bar NOTHING works. And everything I find about blur is the new blur filters....

Some of them are really not well scanned, and really hard to read, I managed to correct partially some of them with Paint.net, so I figured If I could have some kind of script that would Darken the Gray part of the Text and another one that would narrow the line so it become more readable .
As an example:
This is the First line of the Text , I placed the Full picture below if required

i have outlined this pic and used the Gaussian blur , but how would i soften the edges of the blur so it doesnt look so "sharp"? I want it to kinda blend in so to say here is the pic.

Here's an example:
I'd like to know if it's possible to remove the overlapped bits of screenshots in the upper and bottom left corners and the text in-between using GIMP. The second picture is merely for reference of the material missing(I'm not sure if it can actually be used because the quality is not the same, and I believe the colors are a little off). And if it's indeed possible, how it can be done.
Any way to convert this image to a vector without having to recreate the entire thing. I need to make it so that it can be used like the rest of the logos on this sponsor backI have tried so many different ways but it's just not coming out right. The client doesn't have access to a better copy of the image, and I need to get this to the printer tomorrow.
