How do I make a round object really really round? I keep getting this chiseled look no matter how I set it. The top and bottom of a rectangle have a cut glass look and I want this to be completely ROUND. Not just the top and bottom, but the whole thing needs to be round and beveled.

I know with the contour tool I can create a dome with horizontal lines, but is there a way to do it with vertical lines?

Need to do this for a client's site, for a gallery (patterns in the little ovals will show large in the middle), but think this is more a graphics question at the moment than a web question. This mock up was done in Illustrator by the client. I know Xara can do this easily, if I could only remember how. Have a feeling i have seen a tut illustrating this, but haven't been able to unearth it. Thinking it might be a blend, but not sure. Can't persuade things to go round the circle, nor work out how to keep them equidistant. I am such a newb.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have gotten to a point where I have the round text,, I have a seal with a blank space.. I would like to put the round text into the blank space,, but when I try, and no matter how I try,, the text is a white square with round text on it when I try to place it in the circle.
The other thought that came to me,, what if ..(the text circle size was a guess) the text does not fit.. how do I expand or collape it? I know I have in the pass while playing with round text.. gone back to that effect and changed angles, start points etc.. is that the only way?
I have attached what I have so far. ( I tried to attach the Paint.net file but I guess you can't, so these are the two I am working on,, as layers in Paint.net)
Evertime I try to open my 3-D Extrude and Bevel it opens the option screen but when I select anything on the screen it freezes then the program closes.

I drew a square and filled it, bevel works on it.But after two hours of trying and re-trying everything I can think of, I still can't bevel text.

In photoshop7 I make a coloured vector shape.
Then I apply a bevel with an obvious highlight and shadow.
Heres the question:
Is there anyway to then hide the shape so that I just have the bevel and shadow, so that I can overlay this elsewhere
Obviously hiding the shape hides the effect aswell....

View 13 Replies View RelatedI was playing around with the new AI CC fetures, notably Live Corners. Live Corners is very useful, but in doing this, I discovered a possible BUG in 3D Bevel. (See screen shots, below.)

There is nothing apparently wrong with the path Live Corners produced (no double-points, etc.), so I found no object repair possible before applying 3D Bevel.

After discovering this, I undid the 3D Bevel, and rotated the object slightly. Here is what 3D Bevel does now:
AI CS6 does the same thing, but the errors are in different places. AI CS5 has different looking errors, and there are many more of them.

Any thoughts on workarounds? Or am I just stuck with an AI CC 3D Bevel BUG?
For example if I wanted Drop Shadow to appear on top of Bevel / Emboss? tried draging them in the dialogue box but no joy.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have some extruded text that has yellow fill. Unfortunately, if we apply a bevel from the extrusion toolbar, the text turns light cyan and white instead of shades of yellow. Furthermore, we see no way to adjust the colors for the bevel applied within an extrusion. Why is the text face color changing?

The edges seem more precise than anything I did and the creases in the letters, like near the top-right of the 'a' or the middle of the 'h', seem to have depth that an ordinary bevel doesn't create.

I'm trying to get the text effect in this link: [URL] or something close to it. A previous post asked the same thing but the only answers he got was how to make it look gold, not how to do all the beveling, textures, sparkles, etc. For now though, all I'm wanting to do is achieve the bevel effect before I move on.
edit: the weird thing is, I can use the outline tool and it will apply only to the text. but when i use the bevel tool, it applies to the outer edges of the canvas.
