View 6 RepliesI have been trying to use the color select/erase feature in Xara P&GD9 (version 9.1.1.28178) on my Windows 7 64-bit computer. I can use this feature to change the appearance of the sky in a photo -- for example, to change it from something drab to an attractive blue. I've now tried to do this in several versions of two photos, and I've been completely unsuccessful. Following the instructions, I first used the color select/erase tool and clicked on the sky in several places to erase it. I then clicked on the Make Soft Mask button and saw that everything but the sky was now pink. I then went to Enhance in the Photo Tool and selected the Hue control. But no matter where or how much I changed the Hue and/or the strength, nothing happened. I was left with the same drab sky I started with. I've tried to show what I've done with four thumbnails.

I'm messing around with shapes and bevels and I have this shape (attached .xar file) that is basically two lines - I need one of them erased! I don't really care if it's the top line or the bottom one. No this isn't actually two lines, or that would be easy (well it would be draw a rectangle over it and clip it several times, right? But no, this is a shape, so when I draw a rectangle, and try to slide it, it does two things - 1) it does slice the shape, but leaves behind lines or 2) completely removes the original shape and leaves only the (now weird shaped) rectangle. So how do I get the "extra" line to "erase?
Just downloaded/purchased DesignerPro X and do not understand how to use this tool. I followed the instructions in the help file (as well as an old man can!) and cannot get it to work. For instance, I cannot get the color tolerance/fade controls to move off of 20/25% respectively. If you specify which photo you are using in the Design gallery, I will follow along.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change the hue of the sky in a photo. Following the instructions in the Help file, I first used the Color Select/Erase Tool to click on the sky in several areas to erase it. The instructions then say "Now select the Make Mask button on the Infobar." My problem is that I don't see a Make Mask button. I see a Make soft mask button and an Edit Input Mask button. Since the instructions go on to talk about these other two buttons, it seems clear that they are not the Make Mask button. So where is that button?
I might add that I am also looking for a way to make just one part of a graphic transparent. Would this Color Select/Erase Tool be appropriate for doing that?
how to erase or trim or whatever it is called in this program.
To keep things simple what I basically have is a rectangle serving as the main portion of the bat and an ellipse serving as the knob of the bat. The ellipse overlaps the bottom portion of the bat to creat the knob. I would like to remove the portion of the ellipse that overlaps the rectangle.
find that this tool is less than stable for their use? When it works, I'm quite happy. It's just that it seems to work <20% of the time for me.

Does this means that Magic Erase should be done with another format than PNG? If there is possible that Magic Erase will not copy the source area colour 100% on any format even if the Feather = None?
A small feature I have been using for years, and find very useful, was changed in X6 Update 3. Using the Erase with the ALT key use to erase in a straight line from one point to another point. Now after installing Update 3 this key combination is used to interactively adjust transparency (a new feature according to the release notes).
Is the point-to-point erase feature gone or can I somehow adjust settings to get it back? Or is there now another key used for this?
Using CorelDraw Suite X6 with Update 3 on Windows 7 64bit.
Wblock when run from the command line used to erase the entities selected, now it seems it does not, but the dialog box shows an option to keep or erase the selected entities.
Any variable name that controls this functionality?

Xara's a LOT easier to use than Photoshop. But it is different. I know Xara's really for vector artwork, but when you end up using it more and more for photo editing, it's useful to have a bunch of techniques in one place.

Here is a picture of what she displayed as well as the original photo of the wooden bowl.

I really looking for a solution how can I change the color of a part of a picture. In my case it's a pharmacy sign (see attachment). I want to change the color of the white Part (snake&scale) into a sort of brown (#bcb29d).The green cross I want to change into red.
I only managed (not even that perfectly) with hue. But I cannot choose exactly the colors I want. I manage with the color/select tool to select the region I want to change but then.I don't know how to move on.

So far I have been importing into photoshop and erasing my lines with the eraser tool but it takes so much time!

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm working with the attached photo. As you can see (or rather, can't see) Jeanine's eyes are obscured by the glare on her glasses. I'm sadly finding little blips and blurbs such as this on all the outside shots because this event took place on an absolutely spectacular day (not that I'm complaining given the bizarre weather we've been having). It's just I could not see in the camera's display some of the problems. I even had a couple that are completely blurry though they looked fine on the display at the time.
What is the simplest way to quickly correct this? I have several similar shots of her but the glare is present in all of them. It's actually worse in a couple of them.
I want to take a photo I have and make it into a drawing that actually looks like a drawing. I'm going through tutorials and don't see exactly what I'm referring to, I have a photograph image of a flower that I took - now I want to make that flower look like a hand-drawn color pencil drawing. how to get this effect? I know how to use the shape editor tool to get the outline of the photo, but how to create the fills to look like shaded pencil/charcoal fill?
