I just purchased Xara Photo & Graphic Designer. It's fairly easy to work with. I'm used to Photoshop, but I needed something on the fly, as I'm not at home.
Why can't I save my Xara design as anything other than a .xar file?
This is frustrating! No print shop accepts a .xar file. When I try to save it, it only gives me the option to save it as .xar.

I'm trying to add text on both sides of the diagonal line. I want the text to be screen filling, so what I'm trying to achieve is two triangular shaped text boxes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe website is run on WordPress, and so I did not design the site in Xara. However, I designed the graphics. I had them all in one Xara file. Today, I wanted to add more mouseovers. You can see the ones I have by hovering over the right-hand side of the page. There were 5 or so pages in the file with a variety of ideas and small graphics that I exported to png files and uploaded to the site.
When I opened the file, it had only 1 blank page. I was horrified. I noticed that the latest and greatest Xara is a bit quirky, compared to the previous 2 versions.
I would like to know how to change the colors of the charts that Xara brings in the Design Gallery.

In optimizing a new assembly I'll often have several iterations where I take an assembly to a point and would like to keep that design intact, yet would like to move on from there with new design features based off that existing design.
Currently this is the way I archive these fully functional design iteration steps that may be created just a few weeks apart.
Open assembly - save as "LinkageDesign-7.iam"
Open each part individually - save as next part # sequence...
In the new assembly then RMB click on each part and replace with new part # sequence that I just saved.
Parts keep all their contraints and are ready for me to start adjusting, all the while having the other version still intact so I can compare directly 2nd iteration with 7th iteration.
A way to do this with fewer clicks? As the larger the assembly the larger the task at completing this.
I am having problems with an error message relating to what appears to be a corrupted design data file. I am unable to save changes in my dwg to my design data file. I get this message:
Style library (C:UsersPublicDocumentsAutodeskInventor 2011Design Data) cannot be saved because it is damaged.If I attempt to copy a view in a dwg to another sheet or move it using the browser, I get the following error:

I have also noticed that if I multi select components with ipropWiz5 and attempt to change the part name - it fails.I have tried reinstall in Inventor, ipropWiz5, etc. But to no avail.
This seemed like a big update and took a while on my multiple computers. Before the update I was having glitches exporting my xar drawings to jpg files. It was hit or miss with only small fragments saved, weird file extensions such as Einstein.xar.jpg, needing to save as instead, needing to type the extension, etc. I always had to check my save folder afterwards to make sure exporting worked. It seems like this is now solved and have not had a problem exporting since.
If I am working on a xar file and want to make a jpg file from it, is there any difference between exporting it as a jpg and saving it as a jpg?
I have a problem, Save As is not working. I usually do my work in Xara, Save, then Save As to whatever format I need.Just recently (last night), I did a Circle (from a template I have), put some text in it. Saved to .Xar format like always.
Then I tried to do a Save As -there was no Choices in the Files drop down -well, actually just two choices:

All Files (*.*)

I am trying to save a line of text in PGD6 as a PNG so that it will have transparency. However, each time I export as a PNG and open as an image in my web design software it has a white background and is not tranparent. how to get it truly tranparent?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI was trying to save a custom stereogram that is approximately 36" x 24" at 300dpi out of Stereogram Generator, the software I use to compile my stereogram images.
Normally I save to PNG but I kept getting Out of Memory errors.
I finally decided to try another file format and picked Photoshop PSD. Not only did the image save, it saved almost instantly even though the file size is 191 MB! I was able to save one PNG version but it took about 30 seconds and the file size was about 51 MB.Does the PNG format because of its file compression method require more system memory to compress the image?
Is there any way to default the "Area to Save" option on the export menu, to "Page"? This is nothing crucial, but it would save me some time, because I select that hundreds of times. If I could pre-define "Page", I would be even more happy

However the part that should become a template is not all that is in the document.
I guess I can turn off the eyeball of all layers or objects not meant to be part of the template but then the template will have all the extra junk in it (turned off).
Is there a better way than saving a copy of the doc, opening it and deleting all that is not meant to be template, then resave as template?
Is there a way to export all frames of an animation at once as a sequence of gif files? (rather than going to file-->save for each frame)
A related question: is there a way to select multiple objects on different frames for easy editing?
I used Graphics & Photos 2013, I update the software yesterday and if I save my job as PDF, the transparency done on a picture is inverted.Currently I removed the transparency but it is not the solution.Issue appear only when I create a PDF file. By creating a JPG file it works.

So I did, but now, I'm stuck with that template - I can't choose a letter-sized blank page to work on because that choice is no longer on the list under "New". What the heck is going on? I just want a blank page to draw on, and now it's not available.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased Designer Pro 9 about a month ago. I have tried about 30 times, no kidding, to change the US Letter template from Arial 10 to Verdana 12. It happened again this morning and I've decided to finally come to the forum and find out what's going on.
Here's what happens: I open US Letter and make the changes, then choose Save Template. When I reopen it, it's still Arial 10. Makes no difference if I choose "Use as default template" or not. I even tried saving it as a template with a different name, Verdana 12, but it still opens as Arial 10.
As a test, I opened Designer 6, chose New, US Letter, and changed the font to Brussels 12. I then selected Save Template, saved it as Brussels 12, and closed out. Then I chose File/New/Brussels 12. It opened as a letter template with Brussels 12 point. That's the procedure I used years ago to change US Letter to Verdana 12 in Designer 6, and so the Save Template function still works in that version.
Because nothing I've tried seems to work, I am wondering whether any template I create will be saved in 9.
Should be a simple question. Using Designer Pro X I load a PNG file. I then do nothing except "save as" also in PNG format.
My expectation was I would get the same file. Instead it seems to have changed the resolution and now looks terrible.
An ordinary graphic program like paint.net or photoshop would save the same file back to disk.
There must be something I am failing to understand about Xara. How do I edit a bitmap and have it save back in its original resolution?
I design custom banners which include both text and images and have no problem saving my files as PSDs or PDFs as long as I stay under 96" wide.
The minute I go wider, CS4 no longer gives me all my normal options, instead it gives me TIF, PSB, Photoshop RAW, or DICOM.
I usually try to give my banner production house files that are not undersized as I don't want to have all the edges aliased and jaggy.
Especially photographic portions of the banner. Is there a size limitation with CS4 Photoshop regarding saving in "normal" file formats?
Typically I give my production house 300dpi PDFs and it works out great.
I wanted to use the program to design a robot for our school vex competition. Vex has provided cad files for all the parts. So, how i can import the seperate parts into one design. I can only open each part individually but cant find a way to combine them so can assemble the robot in one design.

I am having a catastrophic error in Inventor 2013.
When I attempt to save a drawing I have completed, I cannot save!
Can't save, save as or any other variation of save.
This is my issue every time I click save.
I have the student version of AutoCAD 2012 on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium OS. I originally installed AutoCAD in June of 2012. It worked fine for 9 or 10 months but now whenever I select File/Open, File/Save, or File/Save As, AutoCAD stops responding and the spinning blue donut appears. AutoCAD never comes back and I have to close it from Task Manager. I uninstalled AutoCAD and reinstalled it, and the process went smoothly. However I still have exactly the same problem with the File operations. I apply Windows updates, but other than that have not made any changes to the software on the laptop. AutoCAD works fine for everything except the File operations. I am able to save with CTL/S and am able to open AutoCAD files from File Manager.
View 3 Replies View RelatedURL....I am using PSE 12 as a photo editor for Aperture 3.5.1 and the photo is duplicated (as a tiff) in Aperture and PSE editor opens with the image. When I close the file and say to save the file it brings up the save as window.
I tell PSE 12 to "on first save -- save over current file" it now brings up the "save as" window and won't save over the file (changes the file type from .tiff to .tif)
I've created an action that uses the save for web dialogue to optimise images for the web. When I use the batch command to process a full folder of images, even though I have "Override action "save as" command" checked, it ignores this and still uses the location that was used when the action was created.
Apparently this is a known issue in CS6 and previous versions but whether this has been fixed in Photoshop CC?
