Nov 18, 2011I wish to use a shadow on my web site headings but even after using the HTMLtext (names) tag, after publishing, I cannot find the heading as text, obviously converted to an image.
Is there a way to do this i.e. have a shadow but still read the heading as text in the page view source?

Jan 4, 2012I have just received an "Extra shadow error" and Xara deleted SO MUCH of my progress on my project. Why is this? How can I recover this? I just lost three sessions of labor. I'm going back to Pshop if this keeps happening. I can't afford these kinds of setbacks.

Mar 2, 2012I have something that appears so simple yet I want it to look exactly as example shows and do it with DP7.
I've tried shadow too, and cloning/offsetting. It doesn't give desired look.
3D extruding isn't the answer as then the type gets a skewed perspective and that's not what I need.
Perhaps there's some way this look can be achieved that I don't know about.
Here's the example, then my efforts that don't look right.
There's a remote chance it's the font. If so, how to recognize that font? I do know that original artwork was cut in a 2 pc vinyl stencil as I asked artist but she doesn't recall font or program used as it was a few years ago.
Xara :: Customize Floor Shadow
Jun 8, 2012which kind of possibilities are to customize the Floor Shadow for an object?
Basically I would like to change the angle, and of course works the dragging of the shadow to a different place, but have to do for several objects and not sure I can do consequently on the same way with the mouse. (even with keeping the CTRL)
Is there maybe way to set this angle entering numbers?
Xara :: Changing Shadow Color?
Jul 2, 2011I have the attached image. It is the letters A & D combined, I'm trying to change the shadow color. I selected the shadow in the Layer Gallery and used the Color editor to change the color with no luck. Is there some other approach? I'm just playing around with the image to try to stylize it a little, so it would stand out on a black or white background. The creative part is not a strength.

Feb 9, 2013what's the easiest way to make a paper curl shadow? seems like it is common on Mac's and when using Keynote on the Mac I was thinking of using the mould tool to create a shadow and then put that behind my screenshot, but if there is an easier way, I would love to know. Feb 23, 2011I create a square, 300px by 300px. I duplicate the square, resize to 200px by 200px. Highlight both, press Ctrl-F4 and remove the inside box. What I have left looks like a picture frame. Is there a way to shadow the inside area? (the part I cut out)

Jul 6, 2011Has anything changed in the export of a document to a PDF.
I have a problem exporting a document that contains a shadow on some text. In the final PDf it shows the shadow as a block. I'm sure i used to be able to convert the text to an editable shape / ungroup them and the problem would be resolved. But it still exports the text with a block behind it.
I found that if I convert the back image under the text to a bitmap it resolves the problem only this causes a color shift in the background, no good when I'm trying to keep constant colors throughout the document.

Apr 9, 2011I need to produce a PNG image that will be used as a menu bar that has a shadow effect on the top side only. The image will ultimately be just 1 pixel wide and then be repeated as required to create the right width (length) on the web page. How can I slice the image without getting a shadow effect on any of the other 3 sides?
Obviously the edges of the image must be sharp so there is no banding effect when the image is extended.

Jan 10, 2012I am using Xara Photo & Graphic Designer (non Pro) version 6. I have a custom page size of 10"x7.5". I have turned off the page shadow in File>Page Options>Tab[Page Size]:Section[Spread]:Checkbox[Show page shadow]. The shadow is gone from the view of the document, but when exporting to PDFs, it's back!

Nov 5, 2013I am using my PC not cloud and had created drop shadows on several objects using the fx feature on the layers palate. When I added drop shadow to last object adjusted the distance to 9 & saved as default. Blending is on multiply still, but shadows no longer appear on all the objects.
What could I have accidentally done to alter all shadows where they no longer appear?

I understand that using stamp tool and doing some rotating can achieve this effect. But however, no matter, how many 90 degrees I turn for this image, I just can't achieve the mirror effect.

I'm a CAD designer and I use XDP7 to accuratly register graphics to frontplates, but the current method of calculating the offset for each object is very tedious.
The selector tool info bar has a 9 square grid that a pop up says "Set Orign Position" but sadly this is for rotating only. It would be useful to toggle to colour of these squares to set both.
I know that XDP7 "knows" the centre of an object as the "Arrange" function uses it, but what I want to do is set an object origin to the centre and to be able to use the X Y "Position of Selection" numbers to move it.
Xara :: How To Close All Objects Visible
Jun 22, 2012In the Page & Layer Gallery there are the small eyes to make objects Visible or not. If for example a document has one layer so Layer 1, closing the Visible eye beside the layer, all objects disappear. Which is anyway my target, just in this way the eyes beside individual objects became gray, saying that "click parent to show".
Is there maybe way to close all objects visible with one step, but be able individually open them after? As I can see this works only on that way that if the individual objects are closed one by one, in that way can be opened one by one, but if closed in one on layer level, in that case can be opened only on that level. I would like to avoid close all objects one by one
Xara :: Print Objects Larger Than Page
Feb 9, 2011I am feeling a bit dumb at the moment. How does one print something larger than the "physical" page size--ie., tiled pages--in Designer Pro 6?
I have a drawing that is 3 times the length of US letter size (actual size of the drawing is 7.5" x 30"). US letter size is 8.5" x 11". The page is defined as landscape, so 11" width, 8.5" height.
I regularly do this using another program and will have constant need to do so in the future.

Oct 10, 2013The four squares all have a 0px top and bottom Push Margin set, which I would have thought would have meant I could have butted them up directly next to each other (but not overlapping).
However you can get them very close but not touching.

Aug 5, 2012Over the years, I've used a combination of Xara and MS Visio for business graphics -- Visio primarily for "boxes and arrows" work given the ease of typing text into any object.
I just spent a few minutes with my new version of Designer Pro X hoping that functionality might have been added and that I could finally eliminate Visio. I didn't see any new text-to-object function, but thought I'd ask here just in case.
I remember there is a way to attach text to a Xara object but couldn't find the instructions.

Mar 16, 2012Somehow I must have activated an option to only be able to move any object a certain distance at a time. For example, I have a circle that I want in a certain position but I can not move it there with my mouse. Instead it insists on moving 18,9 pixels in any given direction whenever I'm moving it with my mouse. To get a specific position I have to enter its position manually.
