Apr 16, 2011I've created a bevel, and I'm happy with the basics. Is there a way to adjust the color of the shadow and highlight? I can't seem to find anything.

Jul 8, 2013I was using these tool on a lot of images, because they often seemed to vastly improve them, making the colors pop on otherwise somewhat dull ones, and getting rid of unwanted color casts..
Later though I noticed that it is often at the cost of burning out hightlights in some areas beyond salvation.I also find shadow /highlight sometimes does this also.
Then I tried to protect some small areas with a mask before proceeding, but it seems that I can't find information on just painting a mask, but only videos with much more complex adjustment such as the Russel Crow or Lynda ones with maintaing hair detail while superimposing images, which is way beyond what I need in these cases.
If I try the wand to select and inverse I get unnatural looking divisions. Is it a matter of feathering to the right extent?

Jul 2, 2011I have the attached image. It is the letters A & D combined, I'm trying to change the shadow color. I selected the shadow in the Layer Gallery and used the Color editor to change the color with no luck. Is there some other approach? I'm just playing around with the image to try to stylize it a little, so it would stand out on a black or white background. The creative part is not a strength.

Jul 29, 2009I found this excellent tutorial on how to change shadows, etc. It included the ability to change the amount, the tonal width and the radius, BUT, I cannot find it in my PS 7.
Is this function not available in Photoshop 7?

Jun 29, 2012I have a copy of Photoshop and perhaps the most common tools I use is the Highlight/Shadow adjustment on a single photo. In it you can open (lighten) the shadows and tame (darken) the highlights. I'd expect to apply this control globally to a video clip, not a frame.
Does VSP have this feature?

Mar 18, 2007I have extracted some images in PS. I had to go Adjustments>Shadow/Highlight to be able to see the outline properly, as the background was too close in color to the actual photo.
Now, how do I get it back to the original? I mean, after extracting it and saving as a psd, is there a way you can undo the Shadow/Highlight?

May 30, 2012I just upgraded to lightroom 4.1 and the highlight and shadow recovery sliders have disappeared. It now looks like me old version 2. What happened to the new sliders?

Jun 27, 2013There's a gap between the edge of my tonal information and the end of the histogram box on both sides of the graph. No matter how bright or dark I make the image it does not show clipping and the values do not slide to the far edges of the box like they used to. Also, holding down option when dragging the 'whites' and 'blacks' sliders no longer shows me clipped values no matter how bright or dark I make it.

Jan 9, 2013I just downloaded LR4 as a trial. Everything seemed to install just fine, but when I open LR4, the new whites highlights shadows blacks sliders instantly turn back to the old LR3 recovery fill light sliders....I see them for about 3 seconds and they change right before my eyes.

Jun 12, 2013I'd like to have a custom set of stretchable buttons as my starter set for new projects.
As shown by the attached (zoomed) screen capture, when I add a highlight line and stretch the button, the line no longer follows the rounded corner shape. I've exaggerated th highlight line for this example. The line on the Xara template button uses a solid gray line all round, which isn't useful to me. Ideally, the line would be two colors with proper transitions at the corners.

Mar 2, 2012I have something that appears so simple yet I want it to look exactly as example shows and do it with DP7.
I've tried shadow too, and cloning/offsetting. It doesn't give desired look.
3D extruding isn't the answer as then the type gets a skewed perspective and that's not what I need.
Perhaps there's some way this look can be achieved that I don't know about.
Here's the example, then my efforts that don't look right.
There's a remote chance it's the font. If so, how to recognize that font? I do know that original artwork was cut in a 2 pc vinyl stencil as I asked artist but she doesn't recall font or program used as it was a few years ago.

Basically I would like to change the angle, and of course works the dragging of the shadow to a different place, but have to do for several objects and not sure I can do consequently on the same way with the mouse. (even with keeping the CTRL)

Jul 6, 2011Has anything changed in the export of a document to a PDF.
I have a problem exporting a document that contains a shadow on some text. In the final PDf it shows the shadow as a block. I'm sure i used to be able to convert the text to an editable shape / ungroup them and the problem would be resolved. But it still exports the text with a block behind it.
I found that if I convert the back image under the text to a bitmap it resolves the problem only this causes a color shift in the background, no good when I'm trying to keep constant colors throughout the document.

Apr 9, 2011I need to produce a PNG image that will be used as a menu bar that has a shadow effect on the top side only. The image will ultimately be just 1 pixel wide and then be repeated as required to create the right width (length) on the web page. How can I slice the image without getting a shadow effect on any of the other 3 sides?
Obviously the edges of the image must be sharp so there is no banding effect when the image is extended.

I have turned off the page shadow in File>Page Options>Tab[Page Size]:Section[Spread]:Checkbox[Show page shadow]. The shadow is gone from the view of the document, but when exporting to PDFs, it's back!

Apr 26, 2012I have recently purchased Corels VideoStudio X5 Pro. Having successfully created my own menus in Ulead Photo Impact 12 and imported into Video Studio X5 (and actually getting them working) I have been creating new frames to use in the menus, mainly so that I can change the color to suit whatever background I use. I would like to be able to choose the color of the highlight and also possibly how the frame is highlighted.At the moment the frame is highlighted by completely covering the scene within the frame with either a yellow or cream highlight. I would like to create a border within the frame and have this as the highlight.
I have tried doing this and naming the border as HLI but when imported into Video Studio X5 it does not highlight the border, but the whole scene as before.
