VideoStudio :: Can't See QuickTime Files

Oct 31, 2012

I got a new laptop and loaded VS x4 on it. I have a complex edit that I started on my big desktop, where everything worked fine. I have a mix of AVCHD and MOV (1080i QuickTime) files, and they work together with no problem on the desktop computer.

However, the new laptop simply can't "see" the QuickTime files. I can't load them into the Library, so I can't re-link them in my project. I updated my version of VS x4 to SP2 on this computer, and still no go with the MOV files. How do I get VS to recognize the MOV files?

Edit: I can play the MOV files on the computer and I loaded the latest version of QuickTime. But VideoStudio still doesn't recognize QuickTime (MOV) files. MOV is not a selection in the drop-down list when I choose formats of videos to load into the Library.

VideoStudio :: Compiling Videos In QuickTime

Mar 23, 2012

I've tried to compile videos in Quick time format at 800 x 600, 65% quality, using MPEG4 compression and each time it compiles at a much lower resolution than it should be, I used the Indeo compression for AVI and THAT compiles to my liking at 800 x 600, 65% quality, DivX is only free for 15 days, Xvid and Windows Encoder makes no difference (that can be noticed), Quicktime, DirectX and Windows Media Player is up to date.

I'll try compiling it using a compressor other than MPEG-4, but I'm not too hopeful of improvement, why it can compile AVI, but not Quicktime, I tried batch converting AVI to Quicktime, it still doesn't work.

VideoStudio :: Compression Settings For QuickTime MOV

Dec 17, 2010

Any recommendation for a quicktime .mov compression setting that results in good quality and a manageable file size?

Pro X3
Windows Vista

I'm doing a video and the client requested the final product as a quicktime file. I've had good results with creating .wmv files but haven't had much luck with .mp4 or .mov files. Using the "custom" option under "create video file" I select "Quicktime Movie Files" as the type. Every compression option I choose comes out crappy and a very small file size. When I select "no compression" the video looks great, but it's almost 2 gigs (the video is only about a minute long). The client will be uploading this video to a product page on Amazon and I think they have a maximum file size, probably around 500 MB.

I hope to convince the client to just accept a .wmv or maybe even a .flv file instead since I think Amazon accepts both of those. But in an effort to give them what they want, I hope to deliver in a .mov format.

VideoStudio :: MOV Files - Convert To Play On QuickTime Or WMP

Sep 26, 2011

I use Corel PaintShop X3 for my photo’s so logic says if I want to edit videos I need VideoStudio X4!

I have HD video taken on a Canon G12 camera which is a MOV file. When played on my Windows computer it opens in QuickTime.

My question is will Videostudio X4 upload the MOV files OK for editing and can I convert to play on QuickTime or Windows WMP?

VideoStudio :: X4 Pro - Does Not Recognize LG DVD Drive

Aug 15, 2011

I am having a problem creating a DVD. I save the video file as per the documentation and then choose Share, create a High Definition DVD. When I get to the create screen, I see a project name but my DVD drive is not identified and shows a red empty for the Dsic type.

I have previously used several Corel programs and Windows to demonstrate I can write DVDs, Corel DVD Copy 6 & Corel Direct DiscRecorder 3.5.

Both VS Prox4 & DVD Movie Factory are giving me a similar problem, i.e., will not write a DVD. My old version of DVD MF that came with VS ProX3 worked fine on the same computer hardware & software. What has changed is my upgrade to VS Prox4.

DVD MF shows the Next button active, but when I try to go to the DVD write screen, it just sits there or I get a "not responding" error from Windows OS.

I have all the latests versions of software and have removed & re-installed VS Prox4 as directed by Corel support. Currently they have not responded to any of my latest Emails.

VideoStudio :: How To Make X4 Recognize Camera

Feb 20, 2012

Using the trial version of VS X4 I am trying to get it to recognise my Panasonic HDC-HS700 video camera so I can use stop motion and onion-skinning. It recognises my webcam straight away but not the video camera.

Have been advised by email from Corel Support that in this case I should "use import from mobile device or import from digital media to capture from this camera." Unfortunately this will only read stored images from the camera's 250GB hard drive, when what we need is for the camera to be in its still picture recording mode so that each one can be checked by onion-skinning before proceeding to the next shot.

Have also seen somewhere that a video camera needs Firewire in order to be able to communicate with VS X4. The Panasonic has a socket marked with the IEEE 1394 three-pronged symbol, but the other end of the supplied lead has a USB plug on it.

Is it going to be possible to get high quality stop-motion videos using VS X4 and the Panasonic HDC-HS700?

There's a whole lot of lost souls on YouTube asking similar compatibility questions on "Corel VideoStudio Pro X4: Stop Motion Animation".

VideoStudio :: X5 Won't Recognize 16:9 M2TS Aspect Ratio For Import

May 20, 2012

I independently verified the M2TS files using MediaInfo.exe to identify that they were 16:9 ratio. But Video Studio Pro X5 seems to "misread them" at import as 4:3 ratio.(both as I hover cursor over file before importing into VSx5 and after import) The result is that the loaded file in VSx5 has black vertical framing added on the left and right of the video image in the preview window and any derivitive video files. Additional Info: the M2TS files prior to loading into VSX5 play in Windows Media Player at 16:9 aspect ratio with no black vertical framing.

There don't appear to be any patches yet for VSX5. Since obviously the VSX5 file attributes themselves are whats in question here, I've put both the output of MedioInfo.exe and VSX5 for the M2TS files here:

MediaInfo Output:

General
ID : 0 (0x0)
Complete name : H:VideoEditing2012_5_20_0_8_56.M2TS

Photoshop :: CS6 H.264 Video Corruption In QuickTime 10.0?

Jul 10, 2012

We're seeing an issue when exporting in H.264 (High Quality) and playing in QuickTime 10.0 (Mac OS 10.6).  We are using a custom size video to fit a spot on our website (398x498).  When exported and played in QuickTime 10.0 the white inverts throughout the video (back and forth).  The same issue is not seen when viewed in VLC, QuickTime 10.1 Chrome, Firefox, Flash or IE.

We are also NOT seeing the same issue when we export the same video to a different custom size (336x596).  Those videos play normal in QT10.0.  And lastly we're NOT seeing this issue when exporting as QuickTime/JPEG2000 format.

the issue is very specific to QuickTime 10.0 on Mac 10.6.  VLC, Flash, Chrome, FireFox all play it correctly.

3ds Max Animation :: Sound Not Working When Rendering QuickTime?

Dec 10, 2012

I have an animation I am trying to render as a Quicktime using H.264 compression at 720x480 with just one camera. I have 4 different sound clips (wavs) loaded into the scene. When I scrub the slider, the sound works just fine. However, when I render the scene as the mov, the sound does not render with it. Do you know why this isn't working and how to fix it so the sound will render with the mov?

I am using the ProSound option and rendering the scene at 30fps. Normally the sound works just fine when I render but now it won't work.
