VideoStudio :: How To Rotate Overlay Image To Slight Angle
Nov 16, 2012
In Graphics Editing software like Photoshop you can rotate an image ever so slightly to the left or to the right. I'm trying to super-impose a png of a head onto something and I would like to match the angle of the original head.

Is there a quick way to rotate an object to match an angle without knowing what the angle is? I am using AutoCAD 2011 now. I was using 2007 and I had an add on command the would rotate an object using a base point and picking the two lines that make up the angle, and it would match the angle you wanted. I can not get that command to load in 2011.

I have an HV 40 and take the video off with Hd Split.I put 30 minutes of video in the time line and then want to break it up to 8 -9 minute segments. I tried using the scissors to cut each segment and then delete what I don't want and share - output - mpg optimizer. That gave me five files. The first one is fantastic, what you would expect. The rest all have a jump or stutter at the beginning. Just for one second of play, the rest is great.
So I thought I must be doing something wrong, and then started over with multi-trim. I cut the five segments out using that and the same thing. I thought I would live with it. So then I converted all the clips to MP4 HD. Just to reduce file size and make easier to upload. Now the thing I was going to live with looks twice as bad. It went from being almost unnoticeable to a major glitch. Rest of video plays great and you can hardly tell any quality difference between it and the original.
So then I started playing around with cutting off the front 1.5 seconds of the clip and that seems to actually work. To get rid of it. But it is more work and I don't think professional.
Then I read something about fade ins so I tried that. I took the original first cut of the second segment and put it into the overlay track and used the little fade in slider in the preview window, to have a slight black fade into the clip. This covers up the jitter but the entire clip is now noticeably degraded. I mean it looks lousy!I went straight to mp4 this time, instead of making the fade and then using the optimizer to go to the same format and then convert.
So now I am a bit discouraged. I have a fast six core computer am using the latest corel x4 pro and it seems that things are not going to go very well. Simply cutting the video to make edits results in jitter at the start of each cut clip and messing with a fade in just ruins the quality. What to do?

BTW going from the mpg to the mp4 reduces the size by about half which makes up load reasonable, but still an all night affair.

I have this
Matrix3d cur = ed.CurrentUserCoordinateSystem;
Vector3d x = new Vector3d(1, 0, 0);
Vector3d y = new Vector3d(0, 1, 0);
Point3d o = new Point3d(0, 0, 0);
[Code] .....
Code is rotating well my model, but it's zooming to bad point. I want to zoom to the point from previous view, so I'm transforming it by new UCS - unfortunately something is going wrong (it's not this point what I want).

I'm making this diagram of the load condition acting on tunnels to explain a Japanese set of equations that are used for the structural analysis for tunnels:
load condition for EEM.jpg
But, there is one problem I have. I'm trying to set up the text for the dimension between the water table and the tunnel "Ha" to look horizontal.
However, if I click on the properties box and write 90 in the rotation box right next to where it says "text rotation," the dimension text does not rotate 90 degrees; if instead I try to rotate it 180° then it only rotates 90° (and in the opposite direction) instead of 180°. It doesn't matter how many degrees I choose, it won't rotate my dimension "Ha" to desired angle to make it look horizontal.
OK I know it's hard to explain my problem with just writing, so I've posted a few pictures:
In this one, the dimension is at 0°; I've only opened the properties box to attempt and rotate it: no rotation.jpg
Now I write 90 in properties box but the dimension text does not rotate at all; it remains at 0 as it is shown in the following image: 90 & no rotation.jpg
Next I try to rotate 180, just to see what happens; and it does rotate (only 90 degrees!): 180 rotates 90.jpg
I finally try to rotate the text 270 just to see if it rotates to desired angle and it does rotate (180 degrees from original position). As shown below:
270 last try.jpg
It doesn't matter how many degrees I choose, I cannot make it look horizontal.
How can I set up my dimension text "Ha" to look horizontal?

I'd like to orient a picture of a book so that it's on a 45 degree angle and then "cut out" the area around the "book" to that when you view the picture is looks like a book on a 45 degree angle with no area around it. I'm sure GIMP can do that but the question is whether I can put that same photo on a website and have it look like it's a book on a45 degree angle.

I'm looking for a lisp routine that allow me to select a text object that is rotated to anything other than zero, and it will change the text object to zero rotation and while still in the command allow me to place the text object on the screen.
I have a routine that is similiar called RT180 but it just rotates whatever text object you select 180 degrees from its current rotation, but I can not figure out how to modify it to rotate to zero rotation angle. What I like about RT180 is that you select your text it rotates it on the spot and then lets you pick a spot to place it.

I don't know how name this point, i name this pivot point, the point concerning which object rotates. And if i choose TRANSFORM OPTION i can type special angle, but i can't choose pivot point. More precisely, i don't know how do that. I choose object, then transform, set pivot and then open pivot option, type angle but object rotate around own pivot!!!

Is there any way to use the "Rotate at angle" command outside of the "custom view" environment?
Is there actually any technical reason why the controls in the attached screenshot are not available in the Studio and normal modelling environments?

I have been a user of Media Studio pro 8 for some years now and I have just downloaded and installed Coral Videostudio demo version. I am working with overlays and in particular to rotate an overlay together with motion.
The motion side I can see how to do it but I cannot find a rotate options which will rotate the clip a degree at a time. The only rotate option I can find is in 90deg at a time.

I have a PNG image with only one layer as a start point. It has a faded map on it.
I have a second PNG image with a hex grid on it. I do colour to Alpha to establish transparency on the hex grid for white filled hexes (others are not filled with white).
Now, I wish to overlay a portion of the first image with the faded map with the non-transparent part of the second image.
So I select by colour (for the hexes not filled with white) on the second image (the overlay) and I then paste to the first image (after creating a transparency layer and selecting it to receive the overlay).
I see the desired overlay section (minus any transparent stuff as expected), however it is centered over the map in the first image, not where I want it to be. It is a floating selection and must be anchored. So I select the anchor icon in the layer dialog and I think I anchor it into the transparency layer on the first image (that's what I'm trying to do anyway).
And then my problem:
I want to move the thing I just pasted in to the right place with respect to the underlying faded map. I attempt to use the move tool, but all I move is the background map (pretty much the opposite of what I want).
Nothing I do seems to let me reselect the pasted-in overlay so that I can move it.
Why I can't ever reposition the pasted in overlay? It should be in the transparency layer I created but even if I select all, I don't seem to be able to move anything other than the background image.

I've installed NewBlue ColorFast, and it shows up in VS X6 as expected. If I drag and drop it onto the video track, the changes I make apply, no problem. But if I drag and drop it onto the overlay track, then make the changes I need, they don't stick … they go away when the dialogue is closed. Is this filter limited to the video track only? Or do I have a problem here?

I rendered (in animation software) a series of .png files with transparency for an overlay in VidStudio. 150 of them that all need to be shortened from the default photo duration of 3:00 seconds. Plus, for each one, I will need to adjust the size of the overlay track. Is there a way to manage the entire track for these adjustments? Or a place to adjust the preferences..?

When I try to combine 2 videos to play over each other (i.e. one full screen one anchored in a corner) the overlay track plays at an accelerated rate with no sound, whereas the main video will play as normal. However if I switch them around the same problem arises, the overlay video plays fine the main accelerated with no sound.
If I play them separately they will both play fine. The video I am trying to anchor was recorded with a webcam and therefore may be the problem. If I need to give more details w/ specs etc.

I am attempting to follow her as if I am seeing thru a knot hole.I have the video of her on overlay track 1 and the fence/knot hole on overlay 2. How do I track her in the middle of the knot hole? Can the overlay tracks somehow be key-framed?

I'm just about ready to buy Corel Studio Pro X5, but one "issue" is bothering me, I cannot fade in and out the overlay track. I can drag the cross-fade onto the image or video, but it doesn't cross-fade with the actual video. Instead, the screen suddenly goes black and the overlay track fades in. Same on the way out, it just fades to black (queue the music ) and then the underlying video pops back in.
I'm using the 30-day trial Video Studio Pro X5.

I have a trial version of VideoStudio Pro X4.The overlay tab is not present at the top of the interface. Is this feature left off of the trial version? The video I have in the overlay track is blank and cannot be seen over the main track. Am I doing something wrong or is the feature not part of the program? I need to be sure there is a chroma key feature that works well before buying the program.

Using Video Studio X4 I have noticed that I can insert a Title to the overlay tracks. The initial title goes to the title track, but can be dragged to the overlay track.
I’ve had a look at the track manager and as expected there is still the option to use two title tracks. Even so the ability to use the overlays for titles is very interesting.

If I place a video in the overlay track, it doesn't retain its normal size, but is resized to small window in the middle. This makes it very hard to align components with the video track. Is there some way to disable this resizing of the overlay track video and just have it retain its normal size? (The same size as the video track video)

I haven´t used VS X3 for a while... everything as fine. Recently I used it again, and it happened that the fade-in/fade-out buttons (in the video edit group of controls) for the overlay clips do not work. Even though I select them to enable the fading, the overlay video starts without any fading.Is there any special setting somewhere that can change the behavior of these buttons. Also the rotating fade in/out does not work ay more.

I have seen tutorials and used successfully the process needed to produce a cross fade between the primary video and overlay tracks in VS pro x5, but it's a process requiring several steps. I was recently revisiting my VS version 9 located in another computer when I noticed that VS9 seems to automatically place crossfades between the two tracks.
Is it possible to do this in VS pro X5? Was this feature abandoned on versions later than VS9?

I'm trying to key frame an overlay video ( or picture) from a distorted position to another different distorted position. I tried Picture in Picture but that effect only changes position not distortion (well it can be distorted with rotating x,y or z but it does not give the desired effect). So how can achieve that effect
My second problem is that while the video (or picture) moves from one point to another point at certain positions I want that video become invisible. Again I tried Picture in Picture. Why picture in picture gives a black background? First I tried to remove that black background with chroma key but some parts of the video became invisible (because of black background). Since I defined a mask, I can not define another mask to specify invisible positions. When I tried mask frame for that video, the mask frame also moves with the video. I want the mask to stay where it is.
My last question is about texts. I want my text to move from right to left. There are lots of fancy text effects, but I couldn't find that one. There is one close to that one but the letters bends to one side.
