How does one change the thumbnail for a video clip? By default, VS Pro X3 seems to use the first frame of the clip. I would like to choose the frame. Is that possible in VS?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am not able to save the changes that I make to the starting position of my scenes thumbnails when I use a Thumbnail Menu to create my DVD. I am using Video Studio X4 with Service Packs 1 and 2 installed running on Windows XP Home, SP 2 with all updates installed and DirectX 9.0. The scene changes work fine when I Preview them but they are not saved when I close the Create Disk sub-menu. When I return to the “Menu and Preview” section of the Create Disk sub-menu, the Main Menu scene change is present as is the Chapter 1 scene change but the other chapter scene changes are gone. What can I do to correct this?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm working with (an older) Videostudio version : Pro X2. This works perfectly, but when I have al lot of clips in the timeline, the library (with the thumbnails) doesn't indicate what clips I already inserted.
Is there a possibility to add a little checkmark on the thumbnail, so I don't insert the same clip twice?
Or from what version on (Pro X3 - X4 - X5) is this option included?
Wondering if it is possible to change the default Frame that is used for displaying thumbnail chapters when I create my Menu for Blu-ray authoring The existing Frame that has the Polaroid /postcard look with a paperclip, etc
If so, how does one replace this frame?

I am Creating a DVD + menu using X4..I have 5 Mpeg videos added to the burner module..I am using one of the Text Menus...Customised to use 6 per page.My five links show on the first menu page. From Advanced I have selected to show Thumbnail Numbers
I expected to see 1 through to 5...I see 1, 2. 3, 4, then 1..I added a further video just to make sure and I see 1, 2, 3, 4, then 1, 2 …the numbering starting again.
I'm at the stage in Trevor's guide entitled 'My guide from Mpeg Capture to Burn'
Burn a DVD
stage 11/ add menus and chapters as required.
I have navigated to the exact points and done add chapter for each point, but the Thumbnails are not the best possible for the indicating the section's contents.
Post says double click on the thumbnail. I do that, navigate in the preview window to a more representative scene. Then it appears all I can do is 'add chapter', then it appears on the timeline as an extra chapter. My question is has it really increased the chapters, or is it just that UVS only has this way to show the new Thumbnail ?
is it possible to show thumbnails of a clip in the timeline like this one?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to show more than just one thumbnail from a given clip when inserted into the video track? Currently in VS X4 I get just a thumbnail at the start of the clip and a blue bar after that. In Microsoft Movie Maker by comparison you get thumbnail after thumbnail from the various frames within the clip, I also see in one of Trevor's tutorials (bottom of the page) URL.... there's thumbnails galore but he may be using images rather than a video clip.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I produce a MP4 video file in X4 it shows a thumbnail in the video file. I cannot figure out where this image comes from. It seems sometime to be the first video image from all tracks, but sometimes it is just the upper video track and sometimes it is a picture from a later point of the video. How does it work? And how can I control which image is used?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the videostudio X6 trial version. For some reasons, some sequences from mpg clips I added to my project seems to be repeating itself for no reason. The bug occurs within a unique sequence and might change the "restart" position while the timeline cursor.
Ex: Original video = Cow cross the road, a car hit the cow then the car explode and finaly a generic
After importing the original video = Cow cross the road, a car hit the cow then the car explode, then the car hit the cow a second time
If I move the cursor right to left a couple of time, it might end up missing the first part of the clip where the cow is suppose to cross the road (replaced by a second car exploding)
It's a single clip and the final display is changing even if I don'T touch anything. I use to be a Ulead video studio user and I never had such problem.
I've been doing a project using two different cameras, I've done some of it and saved as a .mpg without a problem. Now for some reason I cannot use the split clip tool it is greyed out all the time no mater how I have the clip in the timeline be it set to clip or project.
I made one cut to align two clips now nothing..As I say I've completed three parts of the project without a problem using the split clip tool.
Working with a 1080p/60fps mp4 file from my GoPro 3. Trying to save a trimmed clip using "same as first video clip" option. Everything seems to work fine but the saved clip plays for a second and then the video freezes but the audio continues. This happens playing the clip with WMP and VSx6. The original untrimmed mp4 plays fine.

how do I put in the time line already been settled for good, a video clip so that the whole time line moves?
Note: I added the other video clips in many 4-track, not using the main track, which is empty. So should I insert a video clip that I had forgotten about 20 minutes before the end, so you have to move automatically all the work (including effects, subtitles, etc), so it all coincides, without having to move the whole hand. ...
I've been using Videostudio Pro X4 for a few days now and I've seem to have run into the problem of losing the audio of clips after I have muli-trimmed them. It doesn't matter where I multi-trim them in the timeline, after I have confirmed the trim I lose the audio for the clip?
Let me be clear: the audio for the clips work perfectly before any editing ie. trimming and they are placed in the main video track. The clip formats are mainly AVI, MP4 and DivX AVI and have varying lengths.

I've been using VS 11.5 Plus for several years with no problem. Recently, I received a new camcorder, a Sony HDR-CX305 which produces .MTS files. I can open the files with VLC and Windows Media Player. For editing in VS, I chose to use proxy files. When I put the files on the timeline and play them in project mode, everything is fine (display & sound). But in clip mode, the clip is played really fast, less than 1 second, which makes difficult the editing.. I tried with smart proxy disabled : same problem.

I have a few clips where I want to add sound; HOwever, when I drag the sound clip to the Voice track or the music track, the clip remains silent. The original clip seems to have a audio track already. View 1 Replies View RelatedWithin a DVD menu I created a motion menu. However I don't want to have the first clip as introductory video for the motion menu. I unmarked the checkbox named "use first clip as introductory video and added, in the first page of the Share - DVD, the clip that must be played in the motion menu (moved the clip most left).
In the menu itself its now fine when nothing is selected, though when selecting the total video to play, the selected video file of the motion menu starts to play where the first video file (clip) must be played. I know that in the main menu I can select the first clip to play as well but that's exactly what I want to avoid..
I removed all chapters since I don't like to have a sub-menu. Just one overall main menu to play the total video, and in the DVD menu in the motion menu only, I want to see (and not select) the chosen clip.
I am usin the trial version of VideoStudio. After a lot of fiddling about (VideoStudio didn't recognize my camcorder) I was able to see my video clips in VideoStudio by placing my memory card in an external card reader. Whilst all the clips appear, VideoStudio informs me that there are no valid video clips.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI shoot AVCHD video from my Canon Vixia HF S 21 at the highest setting of 24 Mbps / 60i. I have a Lite-On BD Burner and make BD-R discs. Originally when creating the movie that will be burned to disc, I was using the Blue Ray option (MPEG2 25000kbps). I was not happy as I saw much degradation of the image. I know from users on this forum that H.264 is the prefered format, but VS X3 limits you to 20000kbps, which will result in an even more degraded image. (Will this limit be removed in VS x5??)
What I found by accident was in the above project, use the option "Same as first clip". This resulted in an H.264 video, VBR 22700 kbps and the video is very sharp on my 55" LCD TV compared to the MPEG2 compression. So I am quite happy with this setting.
My problem is on my project right now, the Same as first clip option is grayed out. Why is this happening? Could it be that this time I captured as real 24F rather than in 60i format? My only option is MPEG2 for BLuRay, or use MPEG optimizer which still shows Mpeg2 but now VBR is 22700 rather than 25000 kbps. There is no way to get it to render as H.264. BTW I also noticed this the other day when rendering a project from video from my wife's Flip camera.
VS ProX4 allows us to rotate a clip by 45 degrees. I need to just sightly rotate it (1 degree or less). It can be done very easily with other editong softwares; I guess it can also be done with ProX4.
